Trying different Mexican around town, tried this restaurant, next to The Julia theatre. Compared to my go-to Mexican this one was below expectations. 24 oz Doce Equis draft was ok not great. Peach margarita for wife tasted like Kool Aid weak sauce on alcohol. My burrito supreme was edible but the more I looked at what I was eating the more disgusted I got. My wife had a "ribeye" at a Mexican restaurant is what you'd expect thin, fatty, grease slopped meal. The shrimp, fresh sliced guacamole, and rice was good. We paid overall $10 more on the bill before tip than it should have been for okay food. I wouldn't recommend this location but it was mostly empty so can get in/out fast. read more

Had lunch here based on a Trip Advisor recommendation. Surprised it was not listed in Yelp. The appearance of the place is not a drawcard but inside is fine and the service was very good. The food was great - a very large authentic mexican menu along with a terrific cocktails menu - which we didnt sample as we were driving after. Portions were generous and the service prompt. Service was good but food was terrible and bland. No flavor in the salsa... it tasted and looked like tomato paste from a can. Should be fresh, not difficult to make. Burrito had lettuce? No one wants hot lettuce. Onion and cilantro instead, please. Asada was not quality. It was not a good meal, barely edible. This place needs an Abuela. We're finding that people in the south are not discerning so I am getting less and less surprised when "Mexican food" like this has 4 1/2 stars and then turns out to be garbage. Take a trip to the Yucatán! It's a short two hour flight from ATL. The food is incredible, fresh and delicious and the beaches are gorgeous! You'll see why this place needs a new cook. read more

Funny thing, what impressed me the most was that they had a button at each table to summon the waitstaff. I've always wanted to see something like this because I equally hate waving at passing waiters or having someone hanging over my shoulder like I was Aldrich Ames and he was CIA. I was surprised the place was almost empty on a Monday afternoon at about five, but whatever the reason, it wasn't the food. Good and plenty of it. Nothing fancy but definitely the best tacos in Florence...soft shell...there is no other taco. The tamales are pretty good too. They've got a bar in the back you can sit at if you're doing the loner thing. read more

Fiancée and I tried it out after a long day being out on the water yak fishing and couldn't even think about cooking at home, so we decided to do Mexican and try out Vallarta. We were not disappointed at all, we came an hour from them closing and the food still came out amazing! We both had the beef chimichanga combo and had both hard and soft tacos for sides, and they were so good! One of the only few places in Florence that actually seasons their food. We only wish that the Mexican rice wasn't so plain and that the beef chimichanga actually used shredded beef instead of ground beef, but that wouldn't deter us from recommending and coming back to try out more! read more

Having read the reviews, not sure what to expect. Traveling south to Florids, we decided to try it and we were very pleased.. We used to go on the Delmarva Peninsula and stopped at El Maguey in Exmore, MD that was great but alas it had changed. This was very close and very good! I am really picky when it comes to Mexican because it is my fave. I think Vallarta is great, but they need to serve their chips warm. Otherwise, we received excellent service, and our food was very tasty. I ordered a roasted poblano pepper dish stuffed with chicken and cheese and covered in a cheesy sauce. The flavor of the peppers was excellent, they were perfectly peeled, and the chicken was well seasoned and juicy. A little too heavy on the cheese sauce but I will ask them to go a little lighter next time, because I will be ordering this dish again. My husband got the fajitas and raved. Great Texas guacamole... Atmosphere was just so so... My cloth seat actually felt damp... Not good. Craft beer choices are very limited. "HAPPY HOUR" was a joke... $1. Off margaritas was all the waitress said that was offered. But there was a slight language barrier. Would suggest looking into a few craft beer options to make this a better option. Because of the lack of craft beer options, I only ordered the Guac and chips so no opinion on any other food items. There are a few other Mexican restaurants in Florence I would suggest over this one but it's certainly not bad. read more

This is our first visit here and we are very pleased with everything. We were welcomed when we came in and our server was friendly and helpful as we were trying to decide on what to eat. I had a pineapple dish and my husband had a new spicy shrimp dish and both were excellent. We will be back! read more

This place is legit. I had to pull off to take care of some work emails during a road trip to Charleston. I needed wifi and happen to love Mexican so the Yelp Gods smiled upon me and sent me here. It's 3:30pm on a Monday, and there are about 3 of us I the entire restaurant, but the food is delicious Mexican comfort food, the sweet tea is perfect, and the staff is ridiculously friendly. Best tacos in town. I got the pork al pastor tacos with a side of rice and beans. They have a few fun drinks and a good bar. The staff is very friendly. They have these little "waitress buttons" that page the wait staff when you need something so the service is fantastic. read more

I give this one star because you can not give a negative star. I have called five different times and every time I as for delivery , the delivery person is not in. If you don't deliver then don't advertise it. I went to pick our orders up and they had on the board that they give discounts to EMS, firefighters , police and nurses. So I asked about this being a nurse and was told this is only for Dine in. The last two times I ate there all the people in our order got very sick. I love this place and I can say they have the best food. It is always HOT and the service is out of this world. Ask for Ben when you come thru the door and your service problems are over. I think he might be the only guy on staff and the girls keep him on his toes. Oh by the way did I say he is my grandson and He is getting ready to go the the Citadel so leave him a good tip.
