Alberto's crew installed artificial turf and pavers in our backyard. Although the work was generally OK, the quality and follow-up are lacking. They stained the pavers with mortar powder and did not remove it after completing the job. Alberto ignored several requests to return to address this issue. Called Alberto at 9am on a Wednesday and he was in his way to pick up sod for another job. He was near my home two he stopped by within 10 minutes of my first call. He gave me a great quote and was able to schedule the job for the next day. The next day his crew arrived and within an hour they were finished with removing three trees, one stump, and trimming two palm trees. Took them another 30 minutes to grind the branches and clean up the whole backyard. I am so pleased with the experience. I will definitely call Alberto again! read more

The first job Alberto did for us was a sprinkler valve repair. He was sub-contracted by the company who installed our artificial grass. He did a great job and was very nice, so when our Yucca tree fell, I called him to come remove it. Again, he did a great job. So when another sprinkler valve broke, I called Alberto again. I called him on a Thursday. He asked me to text him my address and told me he'd call the next day to tell me what time he would come. Log story short, on the following Monday I texted him back to ask if he was coming, or if I should call someone else. He called me right back and asked me to text him a picture of the valve that was broken, which I did. Then he started making excuses. He was too busy, it was too small a job, etc. I told him I was very disappointed. He had wasted my time for several days. He could have just told me from the start he didn't want to do the job, and gave me a referral to someone else. I'm really sick and tired of self-serving businesses and selfish owners. They have no loyalty to their loyal paying customers. I'm a business owner myself. If I can't help a client I say so, and give them a referral to someone who can. They appreciate my respect and my honesty. They always come back to me, and I always appreciate their business. read more

Alberto came out on the day promised and completed everything we had contacted for in a timely manner. I felt the price was very fair for the height and difficulty cutting my hedges. Believe me I know because until this time I've been doing them myself. It was nice to have someone doing the work that we contracted for and beyond. They even got all the debris out of the pool. I was very pleased with the job he and his crew did for me (new lawn and sprinkler system) Very straight up service and great price. Alberto explained the process, "spray and kill the grass and in two weeks they would come back to rototill, remove the grass, install new sprinklers and install the sod". I didn't expect a crew of 6 guys and a bobcat going to town in my backyard removing the old lawn with Miguel installing the new sprinkler system. This applied to how the landscape functions as well as how it looks. If there were zero stars, I would put that. Alberto was not only disrespectful, but dishonest and did not keep his word. He did a lot of damage to my property and blamed everyone else for it, but himself. Alberto and his team work very hard to get the job done right...and did it in a week. I had little inclinations, that i'm sure were a total pain for the workers, like moving a boarder an inch after they had it installed....I actually did this four or five times because I am on a corner and designs can't just be figured out by consistent measurements like a square yard can. So after it was in, it just didn't sit perfectly when I looked at it. They made the corrections with no problem...super nice guys. Alberto suggested all the measurement guidelines, i.e. how many feet the big (first row) rock needed to be, the small mahogany rock (second row) and the decomposed granite walkways. He was right...no changes needed. They redid all the sprinklers and put in drip irrigation...even to my pre-existing plants and palm trees. They sprayed my yard with chalk so I could see an outline of big rock/smaller rock/decomposed granite/planters. We adjusted the island size after all boarders were in (I readjusted that too LOL). I cannot "see" designs until they are actually in front of me (like they can), so doing this job was very challenging for me. Im very grateful for Miguel as he was a lot of help. He has an artistic eye and would give me his opinion whenever I was stuck, then I would decide. (He was usually right, even when I overrode him, but then we would see my design wasnt as nice and he would just put it back without a word.) We have a very large lot we were trying to NOT water anymore so using rock turned out to be the answer (keeps dogs off it too). Initially we were putting mulch or bark in the second row. My husband changed that to rock, last minute. We went and picked it out...Alberto went and bought it/picked it up and although we paid the additional cost of the rock (from the mulch), he didn't charge us more for changing things up. Plants are not in the initial bid as he doesn't know what plants you will want. He sent us to a nursery to pick out plants/flowers and then he went and picked them up because only he can get the discount. He didn't charge more for that either and gave me the receipt showing the cost of the plants. Only downfall that I can see someone not liking would be I didn't get an official bid. He came over and showed me a regular lined paper with the amounts on it. So....in this day and age you could worry about someone jacking up prices or not doing what they said they would do, but he did it all. Im sure you could asked for a bid too. He had already worked on three houses in the neighborhood so we took the chance that he was honest. We even had to leave on the last day and gave him our garage door opener to set up the sprinkler timer cuz sod has to be watered for 10 minutes 3x a day. We didn't have a manual for our sprinkler system and he went and bought one. He called us when our flight landed and even waited til we got home for the final payment. He is a very trustworthy person and many of his workers are family. After getting other bids, he proved to be very very comparable (even a bit less)...and we got larger rock on the first row AND boulders that I think would have been more with any other landscaper. He gets a deal with a specific rock company and if you want that rock, its cheaper. I liked it, so all we had to pay more for was the dark second row rock which we bought locally. We are VERY happy we went with Alberto/Vallarta Landscaping. OH....because they are an excavating company, they dug out more dirt than any other company said they would. This is very important for preventing weeds from coming back. Give him a call, you won't regret it. read more

I think everybody should be warned about this guy Alberto and the kind of work that he does. I made a big mistake by hiring him to do what turned out to be approximately a $20,000 landscape job including irrigation. I was impressed by his new pick up truck and the bobcat tractors that he had with the trailers as he seem to be well equipped. As it turns out he has family members working for him plus other help and he himself rarely shows up. I failed to investigate whether or not he had a legitimate license to do what he's doing. I would not recommend him to anybody and would like to warn everybody out there that they are going to be very sorry they ever met this guy as I am. Be careful he is a very personable guy in the beginning as long as you don't question him about how and why he does things the way he does. I had to call out a plumber to have him properly regulate the water pressure going to the irrigation system and then also an irrigation specialist who tells me it's ridiculous what this guy did and amazing how he gets away with it and said all his business is redoing unprofessional incorrect systems like Vallarta landscaping installed at my home. What a nightmare! Be very careful. Alberto blames everyone else for his mistakes. Without my consent, he decided it was easier to replace my entire irrigation system than add or repair. He used a lot of junk and presented us with a huge bill. My husband has never loathed a contractor this much in his life. They double programmed my timer so tit was flooding not only the property but the street then tried to tell me it was a bad timer. Eventually they fixed it, but my water bill was enormous. Getting them back out here was difficult and Alberto was very argumentative about everything. They increased the price of the job substantially, some based on added work which was fair, but we would never recommend or hire them again. On a positive note, Miguel is the bright spot on the crew; a hard worker and super nice but he screwed up the electrical, the fountain, and the sprinkler timer. The heavy equipment they have is great, but I'd look for a licensed contractor and check the reviews. read more
