I am surprised this place (Costco & the gas station) even exists! It's clean, well maintained, affordable, staff is attentive, membership definitely has its privileges.

I was embarrassed and appalled by the way I was treated by the attendant at a Shell station…read more I stopped at the station at 1700 W Imola Avenue in Napa at 5pm, December 16. I pulled up to pump 9 and my friend and I went in to pay and ask where the restroom was. The employee told us that it was out of order. I protested, saying that I was buying gas. "Heard it before, bro. It's really out of order," he told me. I then told him, "Well, I still need a $30 fill-up on 9." Only then did he immediately pull a key out from under the desk. He ordered me: "Don't make a mess because I'm the one who has to clean it up." After lying twice to me, he scolded me like a child for a mess I didn't make. I wish I had asked for my money back and gone across the street to Chevron. I hope that it is not corporate policy to treat customers like this. I understand that providing restroom access can be a burden, but I would prefer to be told honestly that restrooms are for customers only (if this is even legal) than to be chided and lied to. I contacted Shell customer service that night, but today, three business days later, they have not sent me anything beyond the automatic reply.

Sometimes it's friendly, sometimes it's rude. Since they're independent, they have higher prices than most. Like the Valero behind the outlet malls, sometimes the pumps don't work that well, and they do have card issues. It looks rundown and isn't well-maintained. The place could use some cleanup and TLC. It's a fixer upper.

There was a line early in the morning the last time I went. I'm thinking these people are one of a few things, real go getters, people that can't sleep, or people that pretend that they being water conservers for the drought and don't want to get caught washing their car. Only about 20 minutes into the 90 minute drive my husband said we needed to stop for gas. Casey drives an Altima Hybrid, and we've made it from Vegas to home on one tank - the vehicle knows how to conserve fuel! Even after the empty light comes on, and it says you have approx. 0 miles remaining, we can go about 20-30 miles, sometimes more. I told him we could stop on the way home - and then we reached Napa - and on the freeway, his car just sort of stopped going forward. No more gas, no more electric. We coasted off the freeway and barely made it to a safe spot on the side of the road before the vehicle stopped completely. Casey ran up the road a little ways just to find a closed gas station, then he ran the opposite direction, back toward the off-ramp, and came upon this Chevron. He bought a container of fuel and brought it back to the car - we then filled his tank at Chevron Napa. Nice station. And so glad they were open on a Sunday when the rest of the town was so quiet!!
