A few weeks ago, I went into Valero to get a cold drink. There were 3 different sizes of cups for the iced coffee machine. I selected the middle one, clearly labeled "16 oz", the smallest size (why it was in the middle was beyond me!). I wanted a little ice, but there was none. When I asked about it, the clerk said the machine was broken, but they had it in a bucket in the large-bagged-ice freezer. The clerk took it out, and put a few cubes in the cup (Heaven knows how sanitary the bucket was, but, I hoped it was at least cleaned out when the ice was added). When I tried to fill the cup, the machine was running ridiculously slowly. The same clerk checked, and it turned out to be nearly empty. She "helped" me by holding in the button, which I could have done. When I went to the register, she rang up the 24 oz size. It turned out that it was, indeed, 24 oz (I hadn't noticed), but, I protested that it was in the wrong slot. She said she would fix it, later, but, that I was "stuck." I was pretty miffed, because that's a great way to cheat people, accidentally or not, regardless of the amount spent. Considering all the mishaps for one drink, you'd think she would have discounted it as a courtesy. I was there for nearly 10 minutes. I complained to Valero's online "contact." Three weeks later, they said it was out of their control, since this was a franchise, not directly owned by Valero; nice to know they care so little about their name and reputation. For grins, I returned a few days later. Neither the cups nor the size/price signs had been changed. The only reason I gave it two stars, was because the employees tried their best to help me, even with all the above problems. This was not a good experience; I will not return. read more
