He my daughter and I went inside to buy beverages and to use the restroom and the owner, a woman dressed in a sari, singled me out and said very rudely you have to make a purchase before you can use the restrooms. I responded with I just purchased $51 in gas, isn't that a purchase? She said yes but that I didn't need to be so rude! I said I'm being rude? You just started attacking me for nothing?! I went back to stand in line for the bathroom when she the came back again and started yelling at me! She upset everyone and I told her that I was going to use the bathroom and if she wanted to call the police she could. There were young children front of me that she scared and the lady in front of us said she did it to the last lady as well. At that point I decided to go out and call the police station (not 911) to report her disturbing behavior. Like my husband said you knows how far she was willing to go. I talked to an officer who said they would go out and talk to her but I got the impression that they had received calls like this before. Needless to say we went across the street to the Cirle K to buy snacks and beverages another $25 missed out on after being so worried about me making a purchase. Side note: how did she not know I wasn't making a purchase after I had used the bathroom? With her tone and demeanor I wouldn't have! She was so worried about money that she lost a customer for life (I live in Colorado and come up to Georgetown regularly). I hope enough people report their issues with her. It's so sad in today's society people, especially those in customer service, are so mean and nasty. She actually said I don't care about my business! Upon walking in, we were met with the nastiest stench of lifetime. When i say i have never ever spelt something so smelly in my whole life i mean it. It smelt like rotten meat, dead bodies?, and super strong chemicals. We were holding our breath and it was so bad we could taste it. We had to run out gagging before we threw up all over the store. The smell followed us to the car and the employee definitely thought we were rude for running out like that. In my experience a few weeks ago, there was a stall in which the toilet paper container with 2 empty rolls left inside it and this bloodied roll on the top of the toilet. Seems to be that management leaves the roll on top of the toilet to encourage users to clean their needles rather than locking it up in the containers. Truly unfortunate that management seems to enable this problem. Blood everywhere on the walls and doors, this is one picture but could have taken many more. AVOID at all costs.

This little service station basically serves as a tiny grocery for Gilpin County. It's not that different from any other service station, but it is the closest thing to a grocery in about 10 miles, which makes it important. Given the small population of Gilpin and the subsequent lack of grocery stores, it is very much necessary. Until Black Hawk figures out how to get an actual grocery store in town, this place will continue to factor highly into the lives of Gilpin residents, particularly those who do not pass through Nederland frequently.

Need a helmet for skiing or snowboarding? The hospitality they showed me was unbelievable. They helped me find the local 4x4 rescue, and were generally great people. Not to mention, the taffy was pretty good as well :) So, all in all, highly recommend this place. The owners are great people, and the food is amazing here as well.
