Well I see dr Russell ferstandig. He is AMAZING…read more HE HAS made me feel not worthless and maybe I am worthless something I am PTSD AND GRIEF AND ANXIETY. He is the mind of Dr I know HE change our whole patient Healthcare NOT MONEY WISE SORRY HE IS NOT A POLITICIAN LOL ..I MEAN HOW PATIENTS ARE CARED FOR A TREATED. Doesn't treat you like a animal. Like most Dr's I am new client, but I know he is going to stay my Dr. I AM TIRED of being treated like a animal

Doctor Russell Ferstandig saved my life. This is a powerful and true statement. I was addicted to…read moreopiates, and was putting myself in dangerous situations, doc shopping etc to get what I needed. I was 100% convinced I didnt have the strength, courage or will power to stop taking opiates. That all changed September 7, 2014, my 1st meeting with Doctor Russ. He immediately put me at ease, spent well over 2 hours understanding my situation, and discussing his process and care he will provide to safely get me off opiates forever. I knew I had finally found the right Doctor as he genuinely cares about his patients and goes to "above and beyond" to ensure their success in overcoming addiction. I had met with 3 different, highly rated Doctors in NYC, who spent 10 minutes with me, prescribed Suboxone, with no further instructions or counseling. Each time I relapsed, and fell further into my addiction Doctor Russ explained his process, and the importance of following it for a successful outcome. Additionally he educated me on Suboxone and how and when to consume for ideal results. He coupled medicine with counseling, which was the key to his success rates. He is very humble, and doesnt share that he has the highest success rates with no relapses. He cares more about helping you understand and overcome the reason that lead to your addiction. As our sessions continued he prescribed and anti-depressant as I was in denial of how much my depression was sabotaging my life. As our sessions continued, I realized, he was dedicated to ensuring not only my success in overcoming my addition, but also rebuilding an enriched life. I find it amazing how he is able to remember and build upon each of our sessions. I thank God every day for Doctor Russ. He listens, never judges, provides guidance to build a great life and never watches the clock. I have gone well over my scheduled hour, and never received additional billing, I have been opiate free for 4 years, and continue weekly sessions as they make me a better person. In summary, Doctor Russ saved my life and to this day, provides the incredible insights and counseling to rebuilding a better life and self.

I've been going to Dr. Berkowitz for about 7 years. He is the best Physchiatrist I've ever been…read moretoo. I suffer from anxiety, depression, and ADD. He is very kind, understanding and truly cares about me. In 2015 I lost my oldest daughter to an overdose , then in 2017 I also lost my oldest son, same way. Dr. Berkowitz helped me to get through this, he told me I'll never get over it but I've mamanged to be able to live and enjoy my life with my 3 other children and 4 granddaughters. I was on the verge of sucide! Dr. Berkowitz truly showed me compassion and sympathy. He actually took the time to talk to me and to tell me that my other children and granddaughters deserved to have a Mother that wasn't crying and sad all the time because that hurt them and they were also suffering from the loss of their siblings. I had to be strong enough to keep my family together. They needed me. Also advised me to get to grief groups, which I do go to and it helps tremendously knowing that I'm not the only one in this terrible and painful position. I love him, he is an awesome and caring Dr. He actually took the time to talk to me, when other Dr.'s just write prescriptions and rush you out. I'm very upset because he is retiring, but I'm also happy for him.I pray that I can find another Dr. that can fill his shoes, I know that I will miss him trmendously! He told me although he is retiring I can call him anytime if I needed to talk, he gave me his personal cell phone number. God Bless Dr. Berkowitz and I hope he enjoys his retirement and gets to travel a lot more. He loves traveling with his wife and friends. I can't say enough about what a wonderful, caring man he is!!!

I had been suffering under the care of another psychiatrist for a year and a half. Finally out of…read moredesperation I googled the best psychiatrist in NYC and Dr. Mekles came up. That description of him is very accurate. He is without a doubt the best doctor I have ever dealt with. The attention you get from him is outstanding. If you're experiencing a problem, you can be sure you will speak to him that same day. His office staff is just as attentive. I highly recommend him. You can be sure you will get the best care possible. Thank you Dr. Mekles for helping me get back to myself again anxiety-free.

My experience with Dr. Brian Pell deserves to be publicly documented so others know exactly what…read morethey are walking into. I booked an appointment specifically for an ADHD assessment, clearly stated as such. That was the entire purpose of the visit. Yet, during the call, Dr. Pell casually informed me that they are not conducting ADHD assessments at this time and may resume, possibly in January or February of next year. This immediately raised a red flag: if you are not offering the service, why accept an appointment for it? Why bill insurance for something you never intended to provide? The entire interaction lasted 18 minutes, and not a single part of it resembled an evaluation. Instead, we spent the bulk of the time discussing my career. He asked about my former psychiatrist's nationality; he seemed very interested in why he didn't take insurance "as a Black doctor" (which I perceive as a common conflation between race and poverty). He then asked only two quick, surface-level questions about why I was seeking an ADHD assessment. Then in the same breath that he told me they are not doing assessments, he also told me that I probably do not have ADHD. He said this despite the fact that I was coming to him for a second opinion after already completing a comprehensive, legitimate ADHD evaluation with a diagnosis from an actual specialist. (I did not share I was coming in for a second opinion, as I didn't want it to be biased). He provided no testing, no structured questions, no clinical methodology, nothing that even remotely resembled evidence-based practice. The whole thing felt dismissive, and frankly, like a complete waste of my time. I left the appointment feeling misled and deeply uncomfortable, as insurance had been billed for a service that was never delivered. If you are seeking serious mental health care, diagnostic clarity, or responsible clinical practice, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. This experience felt unhelpful and entirely out of alignment with what any patient should expect from a licensed provider.

What sets him apart is his ability to think outside the box. He's not practicing with blinders on or hiding behind a degree -- he brings genuine curiosity, a growth mindset, and a well-rounded perspective that you can feel the second the conversation starts. He connects the dots in ways most providers don't even attempt. His energy is authentic, his approach is refreshing, and he restored something I honestly thought the healthcare system had taken from me: trust. If you feel like you're done trying -- go see him. Anyone who says otherwise probably doesn't understand the value of someone who genuinely wants to help you become the best version of yourself. Helped me with PTSD/ADHD/executive function deficits/episodic depression

Doctor Adam (and I use the word "doctor" with caution) is the most neglectful psychiatrist I have…read moreever seen or heard of in my many years receiving medication management. He is purely transactional -- zero talk theapy. Far worse, he is absolutely negligent. On many occassions he has ghosted me for weeks -- not filing prescriptions that I depend on for my emotional well-being (which is borderine criminal). He should have his licenses stripped from him. PLEASE AVOID THIS INDIVIDUAL at all costs. To show what kind of person he is, he once held me "hostage" while coercing me to write a 5-star review. I suspect that many of the 5-star reviews shown here are artificial. Completely unethical. Please be careful. Follow-up edit: He emailed me in response to my post within 5 minutes, while it takes him over a week on occassion to respond to a refill request. This shows that he is only concerned with optics as opposed to providing a high level of service. Further, his business manager responded (within 10 minutes) with an iilegal post (i'd suspect?), referencing a category of medicine that violates doctor-patient confidentiality.

Originally posted 4/2023:…read more Please, if you value your mental health, DO NOT GO HERE. Right now I'm being retroactively charged for appointments from MONTHS AGO. I've paid my co-pays but still this practice is demanding money that I don't owe and refuses to connect me with my psychiatrist while I am in the middle of tapering off my medication (this is a HUGE danger to my health and well-being). UPDATE: I had to go for a psych eval. at the ER a few weeks ago because I was having such horrible mental side effects after having to taper off my medicines WITH ZERO medical guidance. This practice has lied to me multiple times. They have told me my health insurance hasn't paid anything out (a lie, I have an explanation of benefits that proves my insurance paid what they were supposed to). Then I was lied to again and was told the PA-C I've been seeing has been out-of-network the whole time, even though I've been charged the in-network rate for months. I love the PA-C I've been seeing (Christina Tallone), but unfortunately cannot tolerate such a LYING, RUDE, and DISRESPECTFUL office staff, namely the office manager, who decided to suddenly tell me when I was on the phone with her, "We're not taking your insurance anymore," all because she was annoyed with me. They outright refused to send me a letter confirming this. The office manager also lied to me about HIPAA compliance; when I tried to get my partner on the phone to talk to the office manager because I was getting too upset to carry on with the conversation as she kept interrupting me, she claimed I was violating HIPAA even though I gave express verbal consent that my partner was allowed to talk about my situation on the phone with them. Under HIPAA, formal authorization is not needed to disclose patient payment information; verbal consent from the patient is enough. So really they violated HIPAA... UPDATE: In another attempt to extort money from me, the office staff purposefully and wrongfully billed my secondary insurance company (THE WRONG ONE) which I previously specified does not pay out for mental health. This practice should not even be in operation. I hope to see them shut down one day. No one should have to go through what I'm going through with them.
