The hotel rooms aren't great - but they are passable, and they don't claim to be high quality, so I guess it is what you would expect from a railway station hotel. There is a fairly varied menu on offer here and the prices are very reasonable. Best to avoid on a Friday and Saturday night though - unless you like extremely loud music and drunk people. Visit during the day or early evening.

With Christmas parties in full swing we were offered a sixth floor room to keep noise at a minimum and Nathan excelled himself with attention to detail and making sure that my partner felt no need to visit Wetherspoons for breakfast! This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in for its star rating and price point. The young lady at check in was very polite and helpful, but sadly it was all downhill from there. There was some kind of function going on into the night, and it was extremely loud and carried into my room at the back of the property. Breakfast was OK but certainly nothing special, and there was an extremely limited selection of cold items in the included breakfast buffet. (You had to pay for full English, even with a breakfast inclusive rate!) The very worst part though was that the bathroom was dirty (by which I mean the toilet still had someone else's poop tracks, and there was a long black hair in the bathtub - a whole lot of ick) and the housekeeping in the room hadn't been that much better. But I was exhausted from all the driving we had done that day, so I just went to sleep, and put it down as a poorly managed and run property which is a bit of a missed opportunity given the location. When I decided to email the hotel manager to discuss this feedback with him/her, I sent an email to property asking for the GM's contact details and was told that guests are not permitted to get "higher management details without their permission"! Says it all really about what "higher management" at this hotel think of their guests.

A typical Premier Inn, with a Table Table restaurant attached where breakfast is served if you have booked B&B. Rooms are a standard layout from what I've experienced. Great, comfortable double bed, with two types of pillows and a duvet, rather than sheets. A TV with freeview is in the room, as well as mini kettle with tea and coffee. Bathroom is immaculate, cleaning is great here. I've stayed here three times, a year apart, and service and cleanliness has been consistent. If you don't have a car then a taxi from Gloucester station costs about £7. Vending machines are available in reception so fizzy drinks, chocolate, crisps and water are all available. For any single female travellers, there are some nice touches which I have not experienced before at other hotels. Location of room is considered for you and also on check in, staff will hand you your room key/card but your room number is written on a card, rather than announced to all and sundry in reception for security reasons. Breakfast is good and sets you up for the day - continental options available (£5.95 for breads, croissants, yogurts, fruits, tea and Costa coffee and fruit juices) or full breakfast (£8.95) which includes full, Continental, the works, so fill up for the day if you need to! I like how I can choose what my breakfast will consist of, so as I'm gluten free, the Continental option is lousy for me but I can take a cooked breakfast and eat can have a huge plate of bacon if I want. Dinner at Table Table - paid separately is fine with quite a broad menu - burgers, fish and chips, pasta dishes, salads, etc. On early weekday nights (Mon, Tues, Wed) they appear to offer some kind of buffet for about £6.95 - last time it was Chinese and food was replenished several times in the 30 minutes I was there grabbing a quick bite. Fizzy drinks (Pepsi, lemonades) are free refills. It's not fine dining but pub food and staff are able to advise me what options I can have and prices are good so its all good :-)

Our first room was very spacious but had a slight plumbing problem so we were moved straight away to a charming room with a wonderful view. framed by gorgeous casement windows. All the modern conveniences you'd expect but in a wonderful setting. The grounds are extensive and well worth a wander. Ate in the restaurant as we were quite late arriving and the food and service were excellent, and very reasonable too. We will definitely be going here again, would recommend it to anyone. Could find no real faults with the place.

I did the high tea for the first time and it was a little disappointing they didn't come around and refresh our tea and it wasn't it wasn't all I've hoped it would be but oh well. The breakfasts were great by UK standards. The room was fine it was big. As with a lot of places in Europe that didn't have air conditioning and didn't have screens on the windows. We had called ahead and asked for sheets on the beds which we appreciated them doing I enjoyed exploring the grounds and the English Gardens. There were sheep nearby which I enjoyed walking to see. As a part of our room we were told we got an hour in the spa so in the US that means massage facial pedicure that's not what that means there. It meant that you got an hour in there pool jacuzzi area which I thought was very strange. And I figured if they were giving you a time like that that we'd have it all to ourselves not not at all nope nope nope nope. I've never been at a place that had a pool and a jacuzzi and they gave you only an hour that was really weird. But they did have a sauna and steam room also that counted in the meager hour that you were given. Personally I didn't like that policy. There's not a whole lot around that area so anything you go do you're spending quite a bit in transportation. But this is the nicest place in the area. A great place to have an event like a wedding. There's things around the facility that tell the history of the building which is interesting to read about it was a hospital and I think even a prison. But either way it is very well restored my husband's company thought about buying it for their headquarters and I'm glad they didn't because they wouldn't have did it justice. It needed a lot of money to make it gorgeous again.

You can get here by bus if you want to walk a lot, but it's advisable to have a car. Golfing is the main event here if you're not getting married (or combine for a double-pop). The view from our room of the 18th hole of one of the site's two golf courses was very much appreciated, in addition to the view of the River Severn and the Severn Bridge. The room was spacious and quiet. In addition to the comfortable double bed we were provided with ample lighting, a large desk, a chest of drawers, side table (unfortunately found to be quite dusty), comfortable armchair placed to take advantage of the view (which I took full advantage of, relaxing with a book and a coffee first thing in the morning after my swim), several large and clean mirrors, and a bedside table each. The wardrobe with sliding doors contained several hangars, instructions on how to obtain dry cleaning services, an iron and board, a large electric fan, and a good-quality hairdryer. Above the chest of drawers and facing the bed was the large flat screen television, upon which a range of options were available (including the opportunity to purchase recently-released films). We were provided with a selection of tea and coffee in our room, along with a small but clean kettle. At one portion of each item per-guest we felt that we could have been spared having to contact reception in order obtain more. The bathroom provided high-quality facilities above the level of essential. So many hotels no longer have bathtubs, so the opportunity to enjoy a soak was very much appreciated. However, I cannot help but mention that a used bottle of complimentary body lotion was found behind the shower curtain. As neither of us are accustomed to feather pillows and prefer the support of a foam pillow. A quick call to reception and we had a couple of decent foam pillows sent up. The soft and spacious double bed, the comfortable temperature of the room, and the tranquillity of the surroundings made for a wholly restful night. The pool, although relatively small, was perfectly adequate for a few laps before breakfast. Both the sauna and steam room were clean and spacious. Although I didn't pay it a visit, the gym appeared to have plenty of modern equipment on offer in a pleasant atmosphere. The changing rooms were clean and provided secure digital lock mechanisms on spacious lockers, hairdryers, ample space in which to change and private facilities, and complementary toiletries. The breakfast buffet was fantastic in terms of the availability and quality of items. There is something to suit a great many tastes here and the staff seem only too happy to accommodate any special requests. I made the mistake of leaving behind a treasured jacket and was very pleased to find the facilities team had located it and dispatched it in the post to my home address.
