Fortunately, one of the three people standing at the open register managed to take enough time out of his berating and belittling another employee behind their back to the other two employees at the register, one ringing one doing absolutely nothing, to call up another cashier who managed to move slightly faster than a paraplegic sloth. Three employees...standing at a register...one barely ringing because she's so involved in the conversation, one doing nothing but participating in the gossip and a third who is apparently a floor supervisor, belittling the work of one of his employees to subordinates and in front of a line of customers. A skillet to fry pancakes was located, but when my mother asked about a less weighty one and the employee showed her one a little less weighty, it was still very heavy and she ended up buying nothing and walking to find other things.
