Sure, racing isn't for everyone, but if it is for you, Arroyo is where you need to be involved if you live in El Paso TX, Las Cruces NM, Phoenix AZ or any of the surrounding areas. Yea, there are tracks closer to Phoenix, but what AZ does not have is an actual organization that sanctions racing events and seasons. In fact, to reach the entire southwest, Arroyo hosts 8 motorcycle races per year (season). 4 here at this track, and 4 in AZ at their local tracks. So if you want to actually race, Arroyo is your HQ for the entire southwest. The track is owned and operated by fellow racer Roger. He is hands down the greatest racer and event host there is in the region. Fair, knowledgeable, approachable and a great mentor. He will ensure ever Rider is taken care of, every vehicle taken care of, and every event ran smoothly catering to the customers needs. I can go on and on, but just trust me, Roger is the real deal and anything he hosts is the real deal. The community here of racers is beyond amazing. Nobody treats anyone with disrespect or holds it against you if you're "new". In fact, they take you in and everyone does their best to share parts for vehicles and advice for success. Whatever you need, they have your back on and off the track. It's truly a blessing to have such a great group of people surrounding you while you experience such a fun sport. I did 2 things today I haven't tried before. The 1st was going to a Motorway Go-Kart race. My…read morenephew is a racer and our family went to show our support. We went to the Arroyo Seca Motorway in Deming, NM, and got lost going there so be careful because everyone else also got lost even with maps. The track had porta-potties (and were clean) and it was cool that we were able to get so close to the track. They were going at least 65 mph and it was exciting when one passed another or crashed. It was professional with weight machines and a videographer on the track racing with them. Both my father-in-law and nephew were racing and they had fire-resistant suits on which probably was hella hot. My father-in-law said his hands and arms were tired because the carts didn't have power steering. It was a family event and little kids as young as my son's age were racing! We went on a Saturday morning specifically for the horse racing. No issues getting in. They will…read moresearch larger bags, but my friend had no issues with a coffee in a clear cup. Races run every 20 minutes or so, so you do not have to be there exactly at the first post time (you'll just miss the first race). The employees are quite friendly and very willing to explain how to place a bet. It's cash only but they have an ATM on site. I would've appreciated a map a little more to see where things are. They have several options for viewing the races! Inside is an auditorium-like setup with multiple races on TVs, facing the outside race track. You can also go watch the race from the finish line side outside. Lastly there are also personal tables/booths with small personal TVs that can be used. There are American food and drink options at the restaurant in the casino. No free drinks here, maybe in the casino area? I'm a little surprised since most other casinos I've been to have had free drinks while you're gambling. We stayed for a few races and made some small bets and had a great time. Desert Downs BMX Track had an open house last week where the kids got to go and try out the tracks…read more There was also a race, so I sent the hubby and kiddos out while I caught up on chores around the house. They reported back that they had a blast and the kids got to learn how to ride standing on a bike. The community was welcoming and patient. The kids got to let loose and get dirty and run around the tracks. My son got a big scrape on his elbow but there was a first aid booth and they patched him right up. Definitely another hidden Northeast gem and another great activity for the kids including younger kids since they also have balance bikes. Today is the last day for $1 tacos at Adventure Zone…read more They're coming out with a new menu and these $1 tacos won't be available anymore, they announced, so I got in my fix today and had an impromptu lunch date and notary signing with a friend Jessica East. Their wings weren't bad either and they accommodated my request to just have flats. All this food was less than $10.
