Me and my colleagues recently checked this place out while we were exploring the mall just to see if this place featured any interesting stores and besides all of the mediocre stores, this one happens to be the best one. Many of the items were unfortunately overpriced. They had professional wrestlers in a bin trying to sell them for $10 a pound definitely not worth the price especially when they're not in good condition. The bottom floor had many DVDs, video games of many eras for sale, vhs's and on the upstairs they had a variety of Books and Comics. The store had a lot of things and if they don't have it they can order it for you from one of their other stores. Great experience I'm surprised by the reviews. I came in and had to do a sell so I could purchase some other things. I offer offered me a trade, but I ended up selling because they didn't have one other item I wanted in stock. They mean it's super quick and seamless. I was in and out with less than five minutes. V*Stock is a great store. They have a wide variety of books, records, CDs, DVD, and lots of other media. should expand by opening new stores in former Forever XXI stores. They should also expand to the Northeast and Pacific Coast. read more

Print isn't quite dead yet, but maybe it's on life support. As is legacy optical media. If you're looking for either, this place can hook you up at a good price. I've never had bad service here. Never tried to trade anything in or sell them anything. You may be better off with Slackers for that. If you're buying though, the selection here is much larger. read more

Not Sure what the employees name was but today (March 19th at about 5 pm) me and a friend were checking out and she had a bluey shirt on, he looked up and said "we have some bluey vinyls for some dumb reason back there if you were interested" she says no and explains nicely that she just has the dog from bluey so that's the only reason she had it. He proceeds to cut her off and say " I don't really care I was just trying to get your money" and then continued to check us out while cussing because he was messing up on the computer. DO NOT GO HERE. Four reasons why you should Just go upstairs to Slackers or buy what your looking for on eBay. 1. They do not keep an alphabetical catalog of games behind the counter. All the games are in the original cases on the shelf in the dimly lit store so anyone can just take what they want. 2. The store is huge and there are only 3 - 4 people working at all times, but when you ask any of them for help they will just tell you if they don't have it on the shelf then they don't have it. 3. The selection of official console hardware is very minimal. I came in for a PS3 controller and one associate told me they didn't have any if they weren't in the area where the controllers are located. Then the associate proceeded to get flustered when I asked them to point out where that was in the store. 4. THEY ARE SELLING. BOOTLEG HARDWARE. After being directed to the ps3 controller section and seeing there was in fact nothing g there, I decided to pick up a PS3 copy of BO1 and check out. When I was checking out I asked the associate at the register, a completely different associate, if they had any PS3 DualShock 3 controllers. They claimed to have one officially licensed, I was shocked but figured they we're probably selling me a real PlayStation controller. They will sell a used one for $40 and a brand new in box one for $45. I was excited and bought the controller only to get home and realize I just paid $45 for a officially licensed PS3 DualShock 3 controller's packaging and not an actual PS3 controller. Not to mention the controller had a black scuff mark on the bottom left right after I took it out the box. So clearly this was not a "brand new" controller. PLEASE DON'T SHOP HERE. Explaining that CDs and DVDs weren't selling like they used to, the clerk told me he could give me $1.75 for 40 popular CDs and DVDs ("popular" meaning known artists with hits). Condition wasn't a factor--they were all in good condition. That averages four cents a unit for known artists and movies. That's quite a mock-up where the lowest bargain price is $1 for unknown material, and popular entertainment is more than $4 per item. So I'm skeptical: For product that doesn't sell like it used to V-Stock has quite an inventory position in CDs and DVDs. I guess they can afford to with a unit cost south of a nickel. I kept my items. If you have material to sell block out some waiting time. It took an hour to assess those 40 items around midweek business. read more

Super welcoming staff on phone calls and in person. Iv sold a few times here and got 75% of my stuff bought from them. Iv sold DVDs and books of all kinds. Wide variety of stuff there from anime to music to toys. It's very chill and home like. Retro or earthy look. Has a upstairs and downstairs to the mall. All ages and types of people could enjoy something there. Highly recommend. Just needs a bit cleaning up floor wise and elevator wise. Besides that great store! I took two big boxes of books here recently to trade in. It was hard to return to the space that formerly housed my beloved Borders. I'd never shopped at a V-Stock before. I left my books at the counter and shopped for 20 minutes while they went through the books. I was disappointed in the book selection, which was mostly general and genre bestsellers of the past 15 years. Didn't shop the other merchandise. I was most disappointed that they took only about 1/3 of the books and I earned a whopping $11 for some 25 items. The salesclerk told me that books don't sell well at the Mid-Rivers V-Stock and that I might try the one in Chesterfield. The receipt was itemized and I got to see how many like-new books earned me 10 cents. Yes, 10 cents for something they'll likely sell for at least $5. If you're trading books in, try dedicated bookstores first. read more

Everytime i come in here there is always something different to witness. Well today once again it was the dirty bathrooms im not sure if anyone cleans them ever. Everytime i go its dirty theres tolit paper everywhere nothing is clean. This time trashcans are full. Normally its dirty bathrooms that i can tolorate. "It'll be a little bit to go through your trade--just so you know it'll be about an hour wait." Then come back an hour later and they literally have not started on your trade but are working on other ones that weren't there when you left. That based on my experience is what you should expect. "Well Saturday is our busiest night" but also they just told me at 6pm half their staff was leaving which is why it would be an hour. Terrible scheduling and coverage and genuinely awful customer service from counter staff. Rude, snarky, and combative overall. If you are buying things it could be an okay place but trading things is worse than any similar process I've experienced. I was at the DMV the same day, their internet was down, and were still done in 1/4 the initial time estimate that vstock gave me for selling ~50 movies, let alone how long it actually took, for reference. read more

Wish i could give zero stars, my original NES was working when i brought it in, had a bit of games with it, they said they would only give me $2 for the system cause it was broken but i was just playing mario with my daughter 3 days prior. They said they could only give me $10 for the 4 games(3 of which a mario games) a duck hunt controller and 2 extra controllers. He said none of it was going to get sold for the much but some of the same games were sitting on the shelf for over $30. There was even a zelda game on the shelf for $50. Seems a bit fishy. Once i got home the NES was having issues reading games all of a sudden, so guess what i had to refurbish it. Now its not going to be worth as much... they probably started the covid virus and blamed china so they can sell more games at outrages prices . read more

Unpleasant experience. Me and a friend were chatting and browsing when an employee elbowed his way into our conversation and started an argument in plain view of the store. This was all because of comic books, as I told my friend I liked DC more and this employee felt the need to "correct" me in the most condescending manner possible. This is a store, not a social media site, and it's highly unprofessional for an employee to treat a customer this way. The store's selection in video games is rather sparse as well, with numerous new and recent releases missing from the shelves. Hope you don't like handheld games, because their selection of those in particular is lacking, with massive holes in the 3DS selection and only 5 (!!!) Vita games to choose from. All the loose handheld games are kept under the glass counter in a box, instead of displayed, so you have to ask an employee just to browse. Line forming at check-out? Too bad! You gotta wait in line just to look, not buy! They've decided to stock the glass counter with swords instead... I can't recommend this store and I doubt I'll spend anymore money here, not when the far superior Chesterfield V-Stock exists. It has better selection, friendly staff, and a better layout. read more

Absolute rip off. I took in about 50 ps2 games, 15 Xbox 360 games, 2 360 controllers, 10 dvd's, and my old Nintendo wii and ps2 consoles. They wouldn't even take my ps2 (which was still in great condition) because I didn't have a controller with it. They only offered $9 for the wii console. They only offered about 5-20 cents per dvd/game (which if you add it all up isn't much) and only wanted to take about 1/3 of all the disks I had. Awful customer service as well. A genuine waste of my time. Don't try selling anything to this place. You'll get jipped, I guarantee! read more

I usually dig this place, they have a great selection, prices, you name it. However cashier "Erih" at the Mid Rivers location created an unpleasant experience upon my decision to put an item back at the counter, making a snide comment as to why I didn't walk all the way back and put it back on the shelf, in an extremely condescending manner. No customer service, let alone social skills whatsoever. Not inclined to come back to a store that employs incredibly rude / awkward staff. read more

Took in probably 30 movies/games most of which box set tv show seasons to trade in. They offered 30$ store credit or 20$ cash. Trade values are better at game stop and slackers, games especially at game stop with power up rewards card. Most trade values are less than $1.00 if you want cash. Janky, greedy company. They will give you .75 cents for something they turn around and sell for almost 20.00 or more. Take your trades elsewhere. Also, price compare on buying items as some movies are cheaper at Wal-Mart, most games are cheaper at Game Stop or Slackers read more

I called and asked if this location had the Wii motion plus adapter the guy on the phone said yes we do we have 3 of them I then asked can you hold one for me until tomorrow he said sure we have a 10-minute conversation about what I needed. So I drive 20 minutes to the store today and I never been treated so poorly by the lady behind the counter she showed me 2 nunchakus and no Wii adapter plus tell me how these 2 items sound anything alike? In my opinion, this is the best of the three St. Louis area V-Stock locations (the others being at South County Mall and Chesterfield Mall). The section of DVDs/Blu-Ray, books, retro games, and toys is amazing. The only thing they have going against them is their music section is pretty small, but has a good variety of vinyl. The team that works their are super awesome and knowledgeable, especially House, who has gone above and beyond and a few occasions for me. If you are a pop culture nerd like me, you can easily spend hours just browsing around. Also, if you are into retro games, this has been my first choice location for finding some hard to find games. I can't say enough good comments about this location. Check them out, it is worth the drive (the other two locations are closer to my home, but I happily make the drive out to this location every chance I get). read more

One of my favorite places at Mid Rivers Mall. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, and they have a wide variety of items such as movies, games, books, consoles, novelty items and more. This V-stock is just okay. The DvD and Blu-ray section is nice. It has some neat toys/figures every once in a while. But the book section is small, the anime section is even smaller, the comics are just sad and is now composed of more crappy $1 issues than back-issues, and the manga section is hands-down the worst of all the V-Stocks (and dare i say the smallest). I highly recommend the Chesterfield V-Stock over this one. It's two levels and has a lot more to look at (especially the anime and comic/graphic novel section). read more

Wow.... Worst experience ever! It's good to know that this store likes to rip off 9 year old kids, and are rude on top of that! My son wanted to trade in his game and buy an older version. So we bring in the game and of course it's on their no buy list. Not sure why, it's newer than the one he wanted. The guy behind the counter said he will buy the rest, making the game itself useless for my son. He then asked if we want to buy the other for $24.99.....we said hold one we will think about it... As we were walking around the store we see a sign that says all skylander starter sets $14.99. So, wait, your going to try to sell me a starter set for full price with a big sign saying all on sale for $14.99. Way to rip off a kid. Tgis store buys games for 10% of the value and then sells them for 1000% profit! I understand they need to make money buy not by ripping people off... Not sure when customer service died but it is non-existent in this store. And to top off my experience, the guy behind the counter made a snide comment, when I asked him what he said, he lied and called me a nice guy. But I heard him call me a moron. My son and I went to try and sell some of his Yu-Gi-Oh cards. He did all his research to see about what most of the cards are worth. He separated them in to categories by type, strength, and rarity. We tack them to V-Stock knowing we will not get face value, but instead got slapped in the face. They had four piles the first of about 50-75 cards they said they would sell them for a $1.00 each but give us $0.15 each and the other piles of 100 each they would give $0.50 for each pile. After saying no I then tried to understand why they wanted to rip us off so much. They blamed the "owners" and when I said how can they come up with these numbers, he said his "expert" looked at them and decided. My son had to go through all 500 cards to make sure he had all the most valuable cards none of which they wanted. We have sold games to them before and tried with others but lately it has not been worth it. I will never go back! read more
