Review Visit: October 5th, 2013 Music. Movies. Games. Debt. Let me preface this by saying that I love what Slackers offers. They have a huge selection of video games and as a gamer, I love that. They also have a wide variety of stuff between movies, cds, anime, posters, figures, and whatever else you could be looking for. Now the negative aspect. What I do not like are their prices. I am thrifty, so when I am shopping used video game stores, one tends to get a general idea/feel for what things should be priced at. Slackers tends to price everything above Market Value. Whether they do it because it is a college town or because it is a bit of a nicer area... it seems to be working for them. I love swinging by when I visit my friends in the area, but I hardly ever purchase anything since I can find it for a lot cheaper where I live. Any who, they really do offer a large selection of everything. I love the fact that most of their SNES-era games have boxes on the shelves. Nostalgia kicks in looking at some old gaming boxes. The games don't come with the boxes, as they are store displays. But still cool to see! I will try and snap a few photos the next time I go and update this post with them. It's a great place to scratch almost any nerdy itch you have, but it does come with a premium price. I have visited Slackers often and had really good experiences, they have a decent selection of vintage comics that I love. It is amazing how one interaction can skew your viewing of a place, it may not be fair but its worth noting. I went into the store on April 24, 2015 to pick up some comic bags to fit my collection of vintage 60's comics. I grabbed a package and went to the front and asked "will these bags fit 60's comics you think"? I got a very snarky reply from an employee who's name I did not get, which in hindsight I wish I did, who replied "Well the package says golden era so that makes sense", as he then quickly walked away. It was condescending and rude. Overall this place is good save for a few choice interactions, most of the employees are nothing but nice and helpful. read more

They're fine. They generally price everything based on what it's selling for online. If not it's because they just haven't updated it yet. I get that people are saying they have high prices, but to think that a small chain could compete with a massive chain like Wal-Mart or online retailers like Amazon is idiotic and ignorant. That thought process is pretty much what kills local businesses like that. But please keep at it. read more

Terrible customer service! Bought a new item and discovered it was defective. Not only would they not accept a return (citing a policy that applies to used items only), they suggested it was our fault that it was broken. No help whatsoever and completely unconcerned that we were out the money. Do not recommend buying from them! read more

Super friendly staff! They are great by not saying hi at all when you enter the store, just staring at you like you're an inconvenience. Then when you stand at the counter for ten minutes, I guess they expect you to jump the counter to purchase anything. I'll take my $100 elsewhere. Thanks Slackers! read more
