The salon is always clean and comfortable, the selection of polishes and gels is giant, and unless you try to get a last minute appointment on a weekend in the summer, you can get in pretty fast! I My main service that I get is a gel manicure, but every few times I go I also get a deluxe pedicure, what a treat!!! I love their manis and pedis so much! They checked in throughout the process to make sure the water was the right temp, what shape we wanted our nails, and at several other points. I so appreciate this level of care! I've been a customer for over two years, I used to live closer but moved to southern suburb, a 40 minute drive to VNAILS. Ruined my natural nails by overfiling with the drill at an angle and the owners response to me emailing with photos of my destroyed nails was "It happens. Your nails will grow out." Not even an apology. A friend recommended this nail salon and I'm so glad I tried it out! It is my go-to place now, with unmatched service and a lovely environment/feel to the salon. The employees truly care about their customers and remember many of their customers by name! They are lovely over the phone and greet you when you walk in the store. They go above and beyond to make you feel welcome in the space. I've been here three times and had different nail artists each time and been so happy with each experience. The most recent time I visited, I got a pedicure and gel manicure on a Thursday night. They were able to accommodate me on short notice - I called ahead about 15 minutes to make sure they had time for me. My experience started with a lovely pedicure (I got the basic pedicure for $27) and I'd say it is way above a basic pedicure anywhere else. It includes a massage with hot stones and hot towels, very relaxing!! Then I got my gel manicure and that was above and beyond as well ($30 - very reasonable compared to other salons in the twin cities). They do the BEST job. My nails are perfect and I could tell they Phillip paid extra attention to detail and made my nails exactly how I asked. After my manicure, I even got a hand massage and a shoulder massage - included in the basic gel manicure! My whole experience was so pleasant and I know I'll be returning soon! read more

I made an appointment for myself and a friend to get a mani/pedi. I was clear about what we wanted for our manicures. I agreed on a time with Ann and proceeded to arrive on time. We didn't get to do our mani/pedis together and were separated. I spent 2+ hours at the salon and was treated rudely. They said a tech had left so they couldn't do my nails, but proceeded to take walk-ins even though it conflicted with their appointments. I saw other customers there for over an hour just waiting for their appointment as well. Each service was intermittently done which resulted in a terrible end result. I used to really enjoy this place, but they are quantity over quality now. I spent so much money to get my nails nice before my vacation and hated them. I am not one to leave reviews, but this was not the best experience for getting my nails done. I did not realize that appointments were preferred for this small business, which is completely understandable, even though they advertise that walk ins are welcome. However, I would have preferred to be turned away rather than having my nails quickly (and not what I wanted) done. After stating I wanted a manicure with tips to the receptionist, I was given a ten minute wait and had no issues! When the tech asked what I wanted, I asked for a manicure with tips and showed her a picture. The nail tech was upset and quite rude with my asking. Understandable that they were busy, but again I would have preferred they ask for me to come back with an appointment rather than rush through the nails. After talking to 3 separate techs about what I wanted with my nails, one tech finally started dip powder on my nails. I, again, asked if I could get tip extensions and she replied "you don't want that." I am not the best with customer service conflict, as I work in the customer service industry and understand the pressure. However, I would have preferred a different approach. I felt very uncomfortable with the situation and felt high maintenance with my request. Long story short, I wanted dip powder with tips in only one solid color. Many miscommunications must have happened, and I ended up with dip power with no tips in the wrong color. My cuticles are raw and bleeding, and the dip was filed very poorly that the tips of my fingers are raw. This is a small business, very clean and cute inside. However, I would have preferred to take my time and actually get what I wanted. Included below is a picture of what I showed the techs and what I got. I am going to a different place to have my nails fixed. I would love to try again with an appointment to see if that would help! I mean only respect, and that they would be able to see this so it doesn't happen to anyone else. Locals in Hopkins love this place, and I would be willing to try again. I've been here twice now so finally feel like I can offer a fair review! My first visit the nail technician was very friendly and welcoming. We chatted while she did my nails - which also turned out pretty good - and offered a great massage. My second visit the technician was less conversational and it felt a little awkward. I don't need a full conversation, but I'd at least like to know your name. I've had gel done for both visits. My first visit, the gel started to crack on my thumb after just a couple of days. It finally split completely down and I had no choice but to go back after just 2.5 weeks of wear. The second time around, I am on week 3 and slight cracking, but not nearly as much. Unfortunately now my nails are chipping more, so it seems I haven't quite found the balance yet. The atmosphere here is not great. Chairs are cheap and uncomfortable and no good place to hang my coat, so it ended up sitting on the floor and gathering dust. I'll be back since this is so close and the price is right, but it's definitely not my first choice in the Twin Cities. read more

My first visit today, and I was a walk-in which they were able to accommodate. The chemical smell was overwhelming, and I almost left before my service started, but decided to stay. My regular salon has a better air filtration system. Ann was pleasant, and I thoroughly enjoyed my basic pedicure complete with hot stone massage. I noticed later that the polish didn't completely cover some of my nails on the sides, and it was not cleaned up near my little toe. Looking head-on at my nails they appeared ok at the salon. The $34 charge for a basic pedicure (plus $1 charge for using Visa) is reasonable and competitive. However as the polish didn't totally cover my nails, it was disappointing. I may try to find the polish online to touch it up. I enjoyed the pedicure, but due to the chemical smell and a less than satisfying result, I probably won't return. read more

Highly recommend V nails! Very busy and popular nail salon in downtown Hopkins. Although it is a bit smaller in the inside, they provide excellent staff and efficient services! I was so impressed by how kind each person I interacted with was and how clean their salon was. After every customer a staff member would wipe down the area for the next. They have a great selection of nail polishes, offer water, and you also received a complementary neck massage after nail services. V nails prices are great as well! Ann can be sweet, (sometimes), but she overbooks and it's never relaxing. Lately I had noticed that she is quite rude to her clients, which is awkward. She's always running around answering the phone or something. My last appointment was during a very busy time for her and most of my nails lifted and were uneven and not up to par.I found LT Nails in Edina (formerly in Hopkins) and I cannot believe the difference. Ann used to do my nails with drill bits that were terribly dirty and use the "gel powder" from a filthy jar. They don't line their pedi bowls with the required liners nor do they clean in between clients. LT Nails is pristine, relaxing yet vibrant. They're only 10 minutes east and well worth it! So my nails look like they have grown out for about a week but it hasn't even been 24 hours. I've always had good experiences with pedicures here, and I've gotten my nails done here (acrylic) even though it's not the BEST (but still good and inexpensive). That being said, I got my nails done this last week (a full set, not a fill), and they look horrible. Crooked, curves upward, and not sized properly to my nails. It took a long time, too. My technician was Eric, and IF I go back, I will make sure I don't have him. *UPDATE I called in to share my negative experience, and they said to come in and they would make it right. They look better, but they said they couldn't fix all of them because they were really busy. I'm still not impressed, but I'll give them another shot. read more

It really sucks when not all the techs are on the same skill level. I've been here twice and had the guy do acrylics both times and both times someone else had to fix my nails. Anne who runs the place was super nice and eager to make sure I was happy. If I could have her do my nails every time I go, I'd continue giving them my business. The last straw for me was this second visit. I'm usually asked to rinse my hands after the acrylics dry but he didn't even have me wash my hands and continued to apply hand lotion on me after my everything was finished while I had dust all over. He seemed to be in a rush. He also used the cuticle trimmer on his own nails and then continued to use it on mine. I think the business can do without him honestly. It's too bad they'd keep someone like him working there. read more
