As someone who has had countless negative experiences at the dentist, I am very wary about going in but I knew my oral hygiene was important. After trying three dentists in the area and feeling unsatisfied, I decided to finally try one more time and wow am I so glad I did. Not only was the staff so considerate and welcoming, but I actually felt like I wasn't crazy for my concerns or worries. I felt like the things I was asking for to make the experience more manageable wasn't hard but several other dentists treated me like I just needed to get over my fear rather than helping me overcome it. This is the first time I left a dental office feeling confident and comfortable about scheduling my follow up appointment. Dr. Lambert is a total professional. After 5 years of protesting an inevitable dental appointment I came to Dr. Lambert with nerves through the roof. His receptionists and hygienists are kind, gentle, and friendly. They eased me back into cleanings and helped me overcome my fear of the dentist. Although the dentist still isn't "fun", they make it completely tolerable. They offer me a warm neck pillow, a paraffin wax, and choice of TV channel to watch. They even offer to clean your jewelry! They hook me up with nitris and clean my teeth while I'm distracted by the food network. It's almost relaxing! Dr. John Lambert has been the best dentist I have ever had. I grew up going to a different dentist that treated me like another number and never really educated me on the health of my teeth and how to be proactive. Consequently I developed cavities that my previous dental office never even made me aware were forming. I never went back but knew my oral health was important so I did a search and found reviews praising Dr. Lambert. From the start Dr. Lambert has educated me on where my teeth are at, how to get them healthy and preventative care. My teeth are on the right track after speaking with him. I also am warry about dentists from the previous office I went to, but Dr Lambert's office pampers you and makes the whole experience extremely enjoyable, totally takes my anxieties away. Recently, I relocated to Michigan and needed to find a dentist to assist with completing the work on an implant procedure started by my former oral surgeon . Being new to the area, I selected Dr Lambert based on his reviews in Yelp. After my visit, I felt it necessary to give the good doctor the rave reviews he deserves. If for no other reason than to cancel out the one negative review that I personally dismissed based on the ludicrous remarks. Dr Lambert is a true professional. He is very knowledgeable, knows what he can and cannot do to "improve your smile" and has an approachable demeanor. He is informative as well as inquisitive as he seeks to meet your expectations for dental health and appearance. I am very pleased I ignored the one lengthy negative review and sought his services. I needed a dentist that was closer to home, and actually found Thomas Lambert's office right here on yelp. The reviews and the pictures of the spa like treatment sold me right away. As a new client, my first appointment was a consultation and boy was I educated. It was a little bit of a shock how much I was unaware of the condition of my teeth. No other dentist ever took preventative actions. I didn't even know I was grinding my teeth, which was causing detrimental damage that I was unaware of. They set up all the recommendations and gave me alternatives based on my budget. Everyone in the office was so incredibly kind and helpful. In fact, I've already recommended this place to multiple people, just after my first visit! I can't say enough good things about My experience at Dr Lambert's office. I visited the office to have a crown put on one of my molars. Dr Lamber's staff put my nerves at ease and made me feel very comfortable. I felt like I was at the Spa with my hot paraffin wax treatment for my hands. I really am fearful of needles, but Dr Lambert's technique was perfect and I barely felt my numbing shot. During my procedure I had my choice of music or to watch the TV. He has TV's on the ceiling to make it easy for his patients to watch! Through the process of receiving my temporary, and then permanent crown, it was a great experience and my restored crown feels like my natural tooth. If you want to get your nails and hands done then go this dentist. When going to the dentist the most important thing is how educated they are and does the dentist listen. This dentist has an office that can paraffin your hands but is short on listening and I question his knowledge. He wanted two other dentists to look at my mouth and just wanted to keep spending my money rather than do the work. This made me question if he was capable of doing the work. You only have one set of teeth so make sure you do your due diligence when selecting a dentist. read more

My smile has never been better! I've been a patient at Dr. Lambert's office for 22 years. The staff is very upbeat and friendly, and they all make my dental care a priority. The office is very clean and up to date, and they go the extra mile to make sure my visit is as pleasant as possible. Dr Lambert and his team are exceptional. I have had many bad experiences in the past with different dentists therefore I was quite nervous during my initial consultation two years ago. Dr Lambert's approach to patients is honest, realistic, and also backed up by the best dental technology I've seen. He clearly knows what he is talking about when you're speaking with him and he helped me have a better understanding of my dental health. We devised a plan of care moving forward that has been comprehensive. He also turned my husband into a dental health believer as well! He works with the best dental specialists in town (a few of whom I have also seen) thus creating a great team approach to my care which I appreciate very much. Considering the dentist is my least favorite place I had a really pleasant experience. I was greeted by very welcoming staff at the front desk, then met with Dr. Lambert one on one. We discussed personal things and of course my dental history. I was then taken to the back and offered paraffin for my hands. The dental assistant Karen did my X-rays. She was so kind and patient through the process. The office really took the time to explain preventative care, and I felt very important. I highly recommend this office! I read the reviews for this place when I was looking for a new dentist in the Grand Rapids area and decided to give it a try. After just a few appointments, I have no idea why anyone would rate this place highly or rave about it. On my first visit the dental hygienist (assistant? I'm not certain) did drop my wedding rings in a jewelry cleaner, and she did put my hands in a paraffin dip, then left them in oven mitt-type things until my hands were sweaty and the wax was hanging off. I had to ask her to please -finally- get that stuff off my hands, it was becoming a mess. My first meeting with Dr. Lambert, he walked into the room where I was in the dentist chair with a finger puppet on one finger and started bobbing it around, showing it to the dental hygienist who was working with me. This didn't say "professionalism" to me, but okay, maybe he has a quirky sense of humor. He'd talk to me for a few seconds, then tell the hygienist to finish the conversation and he'd be gone. *Poof*. I felt like I was just one more item on a factory conveyor belt and he was running in and out after very brief comments. I tried to chat with him for a minute or two and he just sort of cut me short and walked out. I felt no connection there, person-to-person. Sad. Because I'm a people person, I really like people and enjoy meeting new people. I specifically sought out a new dentist because I've had issues with my teeth after 30 years with one dentist I really liked a lot. I told Dr. Lambert I had cavities and/or a cracked tooth, one on each side of my mouth in back, and it was making it difficult to eat, because I'd get zings of pain with temperature of biting wrong on either side. But what he wanted to talk about were two things that could wait and weren't bothering, but were big ticket items involving extraction, tooth implant, root canal, etc. I said I really wanted to get the painful teeth taken care of. He said something like why was he going to fix the car when it has two flat tires, seeming to imply the two things HE wanted to do that weren't problematic for me at the time, were the "flat tires." On my first visit, I was hoping for a cleaning and exam. I had to get an exam and x-rays and then schedule a cleaning for another day and come back, they wouldn't do the cleaning on a first visit. Weeks later I broke a piece off a tooth - not one we'd talked about. I went into the office. Dr. Lambert described the damage and asked if I wanted to see it on the camera/TV screen. I said no. So what did he do? He turned on the mouth camera and stuck it in my mouth and showed me anyway. Why ask??? On that visit, I walked out crying in front of Dr. Lambert and the person doing the list of recommendations and listing the charges. They didn't say much of anything as I was walking away with tears running down my face. I went in for a cleaning a couple of weeks ago. I asked the hygienist why they hadn't suggested doing a bridge instead of that expensive implant (about $3,000) not covered at all by my insurance. She said because they wanted me to have the best care. Uh-huh... Shouldn't I be presented with all the options, so I can make an informed decision, instead of not being told about a viable option insurance does typically cover? The woman in the office called me this week to see about setting up an appointment to do some of the work. I told her I wanted to get the cavities/broken tooth taken care of, because they are causing my problems when I eat. She said she "knows" Dr. Lambert, and I'd have to drive over to their office and - again! - sit down and be told -again! - what they recommend and -again! - what the charges would be - again! I explained I'd already done that, that I live an hour away, so a 2-hour round trip driving to hear what I'd already gone through - and found upsetting - wasn't really a necessity. I "get it." But what I want is my cavities/cracked tooth taken care of so I can eat without pain issues. In our next phone conversation, she told me she'd spoken to Dr. Lambert and that he insisted I come in again to go over everything (again). Then she said that he said to tell me he'd understand if I want to go to another dentist. I was appalled. It felt to me like if I wasn't going to pay for the big-ticket work that wasn't the crucial issue to me at the time they weren't going to provide the care for what was causing me pain, and if I didn't like it, I could go elsewhere. It felt very money grubbing and unprofessional to me. I wouldn't recommend this place. There was nothing "fun" or "spa-esque" about the experience as I'd read on a couple of online reviews. Disappointing experience that left me feeling like I was very unimportant and if I wasn't a money well that could be tapped into, they weren't interested in being a care provider. read more

We had a very pleasant experience with Dr. Lambert and all his staff; from registration, getting appointments and to our office visit. My daughters (5 & 7) can't stop raving about how great their appointments were. The office staff were very friendly and his dental hygienists were very helpful, kind and did a fantastic job. My daughters got some goodie bags with products to keep our teeth, gums and tongues healthy. They can't wait to be back for their next check up. Dr. Lambert was very professional and very passionate about His work in improving dental health. I was really happy to hear about his involvement in research and academia and how he is constantly improving his practice as a dentist. He took the time to explain my daughter's Xrays and offered great suggestions and advice on how to keep their mouths healthy. I used to see Dr. Lamberts after my previous dentist retired. Against my orthodontist's recommendation, I allowed Dr. Lamberts to crown 8 teeth. My ortho thought it was radical and unnecessary, because there was not what he considered to be excessive wear or stress on them: I did it anyways as Lamberts considered it "preventative". Within 4 years, I needed to begin replacing them. Not only did Lamberts state that this is "normal", but he wanted me to pay $10,000 again to do it. Fortunately, I contacted the regulating body in Lansing, and they supported me seeking an alternate dentist. My new dentist has shown me how they were not the correct size and were poorly made. I have just lost my third crown and will continue to do the replacement work with a trusted dentist that is more knowledgeable and learned. If you do major work with Lamberts, get a written agreement as to the longevity of the crowns (which should last 10 years-life). I cringe when I see him advestising, because his work is sub-standard at top rate. Always get a second opinion if he tries to talk you into major "preventative" work. . read more
