I love this coffee shop. Avoid the American chains and visit this place. Greta coffee, cakes etc. Excellent service. Great atmosphere.

Wiener Kaffee und Teehaus - Strawberry cheesecream cake

Wiener Kaffee und Teehaus

The Wiener Kaffee and Teehaus is such a lovely and authentic place to enjoy any of their hundreds…read moreof teas from all over the world or a real good coffee together with a home-baked cake! Or, have one of the delicious German lunch meals, such as Schnitzel or Bratwurst with home-made potato salad, and other goodies! I tried everything and I love everything there!! The ambiance is so nice, too. Very warm and welcoming. They play original German and Austrian music, candles and flowers on each table, as well as seasonal decorations. Don't forget to take a home-made loaf of bread before you leave! The best bread in town!

There's easily over a 100 different teas to chose from (the lovely couple running the teehaus can guide you through the selection), and the preparation is amazing. You may find your choice of tea is served a couple of minutes before your friend's, as they're sticklers here for serving the tea at EXACTLY the right temperature and length of infusion. (If you buy loose leaf take home packs of tea they helpfully print the full instructions on the packet!) The coffee menu is thorough too, with the full Starbucks style range and beyond. (The times I've been here I've been surprised at the amount of people opting for a latte when they're surrounded by all these wonderful choices.) The food is basic but lovely. The Teahouse/Teehaus is big, airy and welcoming, with lots of room to move around between the tables. The owners are so friendly and warm you can't help but feel loved. Lovely place, lovely people and wonderful tea.

Tea and cake! Tea and cake! Moar tea and cake!…read more This chain of cakey temptations lures you to their realm of gateaux and frangipan tarts via a well stocked display. Many a time I have let my eyes feast at the window, so I was delighted when a friend decided that this was the place to go for tea and cake. Now I have to admit, dear yelpers, this is one of those reviews where I yearn for a half star option. Some of bits of our visit were excellent, and one or two, well missed the mark, by just a touch. We were warmly welcomed, even with 2 prams, and promptly seated. We ordered, and they let.us take our time, a necessity when the two littlest members of your party are yet to hit double figures in months of age, let alone years. Plus, the last of our group was quite late too! My gingerbread latte was lovely, but I know some people will find it too sweet. My friends tea was beautifully served. I was super pleased that they had dairy free milk too. The service was attentive with out being pushy, and most of the girls were lovely and smiley. Best of all, they were patient, and let us feed our babies instead of trying to push us to order. When i'm breast feeding, I'm more worried about trying not to flash my milk melons to the world, so it was such a relief not to have flop a menu about at the same time. We all had the chocolate mousse gateaux. It was very lovely, and so if you're a Cadbury's kinda gal or guy, you'll love it. I am a dark chocolate fiend, so for me this was missing dark bitter hit I crave from this sort of pud. I also found that the cake layer rather dry. It was so big, I could only eat half of it. The other half was as diligently packed up as if I were buying to take out, with a ribbon and everything. I changed a nappy too, and the baby change was epic. Huge size, nice clean table and literally sparkled. A good loo really makes or breaks a visit when you have small people in tow. The eyes of the floor manager began to pass their steely gaze over table... one friend ordered an unwanted drink, because she feared we may be asked to leave. Granted, we had three drinks and three slices of cake to go with two hours of babies, chatting and menu indecision during lunch time. Eeks. Fair play that we were not removed. Finally, they say you get what you pay for, and at just under £8 each for tea and cake, it may be a little dear for some. For me, not being rushed with huge slices of cake and beautiful loos is a winner. I'll be back for that perfect pud, and that extra (half) star.
