Utica university is one of my favorite universities in Central New York, The food, education, and environment of the campus is top tier, though, there is not that much to do in Utica it's self, it's close to many malls and shopping centers. read more

I have never been a student here. I have seen a sporting event here. Good locker room, with a sauna, and a pool.

My first online class Cybercrime and fraud investigations was horrible. I told the professor that the software that was needed for assignments did not work. Six weeks of "no one is having any problems". The seventh and final week, the professor decided to mirror my computer. She finally saw the issues I had. The classes seem out of synch, the curriculum not structured properly. I tried to change my major, the head of the department never responded back, so I left. I decided to return, finally after changing my major that was finally approved. But, once again, an issue. This time with the readmission menus. I have given up, and I would not recommend my enemy for this school. Save your money and your time. read more

I'd like to begin by stating that I am a Marine combat veteran with 12 years of service to our nation and would like to earn a graduate degree in cybersecurity. I diligently researched the available online options because I wanted to identify a school that would view me as more than a pay check. I thought I found a good school with Utica, despite some of the negative reviews I had read online. Unfortunately, I found out during the registration/enrollment process that Utica doesn't care about its students and it certainly doesn't care about assisting veterans. I was accepted to the program and am currently in the process of withdrawing. After three failed attempts to get a simple question answered and nearly two months of receiving false information from the staff, I directly complained to the veteran's representative for not accurately responding to my very specific question. The next day, the cybersecurity program director, Austen Givens, who doesn't even have a cybersecurity degree or any real-world experience, called me and arrogantly ordered me to apologize. He stated that my email was "nasty." I showed this email to five professional colleagues, as well as my wife, and they all said there was nothing "nasty" about it. I simply complained and aired my grievances directly to her instead of her boss. Anyway, the director went on to say that Sue has helped hundreds of veterans just like me for years with no recognition and no promotion. **Really??? What does that say about Utica as an institution? All I did was complain to her in an email, meanwhile, the school is actually hurting her livelihood by not giving the poor woman a promotion. ** He then arrogantly ordered me to email an apology, told me to carbon copy him in the email, and then stated we would "talk about getting me on full-time." I said okay and asked him for his email address. He replied, "You can look it up in the directory!" Then he hung up on me. Clearly, at Utica the customer serves the staff, not the other way around. Take a look at the question I posed to the veterans' representative below. This is the third of three separate times that I asked her about BAH. I had to ask multiple times because the BAH policy didn't line up with what Sue was telling me. With graduate programs, the VA determines enrollment status based on what the school reports to the VA. Also, I was actually drafting an apology to Sue because I felt bad the school hasn't given her a promotion, when my wife returned from work and told me Utica should be apologizing to me. Here is what I asked: "Good afternoon Sue, I am now enrolled in CYB 505, which is a 3 credit-hour graduate course lasting 16 weeks. Could you please tell me the online BAH rate I will receive for these 4 months? Also, what enrollment status will be reported to the VA during this 16 week period (e.g. full-time or half-time)? Thank you." Her response: "I put in the terms and the VA asks how many credits are full-time in the Grad Program which is 6. It is condensed so it should be the full-time online rate. Sue" My response: "But I will only be taking 3 credits for the first 4 months. So that would be half, right?" Her response: "You have to be going over 1/2 time to get BAH so you won't qualify." That is what I needed to know three months ago PRIOR to registering for this school! All I received were cookie-cutter responses. It's not even about the money; it's about going to a school takes care in assisting its students. There are a number of other instances regarding the conflicting and/or erroneous information I received from Utica College; however, it is simply too much to type in a small review. I would recommend avoiding this school at all costs! read more

This so called college institution makes a mockery of education. I would give 0 stars but it's not an option. Faculty was abusive and manipulating. One time they accidentally put an F on my transcript instead of an A- refused to change it. Eventually I had to write to request a hearing. All faculty up to the Dean refused to help or even to listen to what was wrong. This was just one instance of why this place is horrible. One of the teachers made up a lie about me and spread it around and another teacher tried to get me dismissed from the school for it we had to file a lawsuit and it sucks! Only 6 people in our class of 42 graduated if that tells you anything. The school is supposedly going out of business and will do anything for a buck- even enrolling students with no intention of graduating them read more

The financial department is pretty horrendous and quite irresponsible but the faculty for the most part is extremely kind and supportive. There needs to be some infrastructure change but this school has great promise. read more

Do yourself a favor and take your money elsewhere. I was accepted into the nursing program to start this past January, but because of constant issues with my tuition and my books and scrubs I paid for never showing up, I decided to drop and continue my education elsewhere. They were supposed to send my student loan money back at the end of January but here I am, months later paying on a student loan that I never received because I don't want it to screw up my credit. I've called multiple times over the last few months over this issue but they are taking their sweet time. If this would have been handled in a timely manner, I wouldn't have even bothered to write a review. But please, if you value your time... go elsewhere for a degree. read more
