Kimberly Bolton, a professor for the nurse practitioner program I believe, is not fit to profess! A lot of money is spent on this program from students who hardly have the means for this already over priced program and so the professors of said curriculum should be working for the students to help them succeed and guide not easily be against them and cherry pick. Their wage is paid by the students hard earned money from pocket or loans with ridiculous interests therefore the students be should be getting every opportunity to succeed to their greatest potential and also at the beginning to be given a chance to settle in and learn their role and duties and receive the right communication for preparedness and the beginning of the course. This course is meant to well prepare students and help guide them to be great and safe practitioners for our communities, not to give a "0" for a paper that has been handed in as a pdf and not word. It's the hard work and time that's been put in the project that matters, also being petty in counting seconds late and giving a "0" for that is unprofessional and discouraging. I get that this is all about being professional and punctual but seeing other students having their work put in late without ramifications tells me that this instructor is biased, prejudice and judgmental. People don't have thousands of dollars to waste on instructors that are taking advantage of their power and authoritative position easily flunking people's ambitions and injuring their own confidence in what they feel strong in and what they've already brought to the table thus far for their communities! A university with its long standing commitment to their students but employs and supports these kind of professors should warrant all professors to be reviewed and verified before a board heavily in their own psyche and backgrounds before being allowed to profess, not merely alone in what their achievements are in their own careers! read more

Do not recommend their post professional DPT program (for existing PTs wanting to obtain the DPT). 95% of this program is focus on writing. 5% on obtaining new information and knowledge. Same professor over and over who is NOT a content expert in the actual course, instead, just an instructor assigned to teach a course that someone else created. It should experts in the content of that particular course, not the same instructor over and over who is a just a general PT. I have literally not learned one new thing that I did not know prior to starting this program, except how to use Voice Thread and a good review of APA formatting. They act as if you are in a English writing Ph D program. Not a DPT program. The actual content is so ridiculously basic it is laughable. So instead, they have extremely high writing standards and Voice Thread standards to make up for the lack of rigor with the content. Really? Is this going to make us better PTs? No. It is obvious that the professor (instructor) has never taught real face to face lecture classes and is simple assigned an online class and thinks that the goal is to expect everyone to write and say things the way she would. As if that warrants respect, not! This is a classic sign of an inexperienced teacher. I only consider a teacher, instructor, professor to be legit if they have taught and lectured in a face to face class and know how to live lecture, engage in live dialogue with a class, write assignments and exams, etc. This then translates to online teaching. Not the opposite. Do your research, go elsewhere for your transitional DPT, not Utica University. Go to a program where you will learn new information and be challenged, not just regurgitate online info into your papers to make your professor happy and think you learned something. DO NOT.....I repeat....DO NOT do your RN to BSN online at this school! This has been the worst experience of my academic life! While I very much enjoy the electives (though very limited) the nursing program is a mess!!!! The "teachers" (and I use the term very loosely) want to slap up information then walk away. If you ask for any kind of clarification or help....your basically made out to be an idiot. God forbid if you may disagree with any of them either....they will whine and say your being mean....there is no support at all!!! Its so hard to describe the absolute NIGHTMARE....but basically it's the old issue of nurses eating their young....hiding behind a degree!!!! I suggest Arizona State University....a real school....or Chamberlain. Just stay away from this program!!!!! And this is not coming form someone who is failing.....I have a 3.9 but am ready got slap the s&@t outta half the women there! I'd like to begin by stating that I am a Marine combat veteran with 12 years of service to our nation and would like to earn a graduate degree in cybersecurity. I diligently researched the available online options because I wanted to identify a school that would view me as more than a pay check. I thought I found a good school with Utica, despite some of the negative reviews I had read online. Unfortunately, I found out during the registration/enrollment process that Utica doesn't care about its students and it certainly doesn't care about assisting veterans. I was accepted to the program and am currently in the process of withdrawing. After three failed attempts to get a simple question answered and nearly two months of receiving false information from the staff, I directly complained to the veteran's representative for not accurately responding to my very specific question. The next day, the cybersecurity program director, Austen Givens, who doesn't even have a cybersecurity degree or any real-world experience, called me and arrogantly ordered me to apologize. He stated that my email was "nasty." I showed this email to five professional colleagues, as well as my wife, and they all said there was nothing "nasty" about it. I simply complained and aired my grievances directly to her instead of her boss. Anyway, the director went on to say that Sue has helped hundreds of veterans just like me for years with no recognition and no promotion. **Really??? What does that say about Utica as an institution? All I did was complain to her in an email, meanwhile, the school is actually hurting her livelihood by not giving the poor woman a promotion. ** He then arrogantly ordered me to email an apology, told me to carbon copy him in the email, and then stated we would "talk about getting me on full-time." I said okay and asked him for his email address. He replied, "You can look it up in the directory!" Then he hung up on me. Clearly, at Utica the customer serves the staff, not the other way around. Take a look at the question I posed to the veterans' representative below. This is the third of three separate times that I asked her about BAH. I had to ask multiple times because the BAH policy didn't line up with what Sue was telling me. With graduate programs, the VA determines enrollment status based on what the school reports to the VA. Also, I was actually drafting an apology to Sue because I felt bad the school hasn't given her a promotion, when my wife returned from work and told me Utica should be apologizing to me. Here is what I asked: "Good afternoon Sue, I am now enrolled in CYB 505, which is a 3 credit-hour graduate course lasting 16 weeks. Could you please tell me the online BAH rate I will receive for these 4 months? Also, what enrollment status will be reported to the VA during this 16 week period (e.g. full-time or half-time)? Thank you." Her response: "I put in the terms and the VA asks how many credits are full-time in the Grad Program which is 6. It is condensed so it should be the full-time online rate. Sue" My response: "But I will only be taking 3 credits for the first 4 months. So that would be half, right?" Her response: "You have to be going over 1/2 time to get BAH so you won't qualify." That is what I needed to know three months ago PRIOR to registering for this school! All I received were cookie-cutter responses. It's not even about the money; it's about going to a school takes care in assisting its students. There are a number of other instances regarding the conflicting and/or erroneous information I received from Utica College; however, it is simply too much to type in a small review. I've Been at Utica College for 5 years now and I've taken my fair share of online classes at the college. I always find that the professors do a well enough job of explaining the class and many of them have office hours if you don't understand the topic. Navigating the online site is easy and the course load is no different from one you would take with an on-ground class. Hi I started the Utica college nursing program last year in August and I am looking forward to graduating this year as promised. Being in this program you to have to mentally and physically prepare yourself for the stress that this program entails. Over the past year I barely slept and lost a tremendous amount of weight, I hardly recognize myself anymore. The only relief I received was when my family visited from New York to encourage me to continue. If you plan on attending you have to be very careful; recently my classmates and I took a test and after the results, Utica college threatened to remove us from the program due to the fact that the only students who passed the exam where African Americans and believed that we "cheated". I have studied endless nights and the fact that this school can falsely accuse a hard working student is heart-breaking. read more

Absolutely DO NOT enter into this program. I was a 3.5 gpa student and FAILED A CLASS BASED ON 0.6 OF A POINT and was kicked out of the program and now owe them $12,000 in student loans. They sell this program aggressively and prey on unsuspecting students. My class went from 30 to 9 people in 2 semesters. This is a nightmare that will follow me the rest of my life. The school completely miss lead me and miss represented my graduation date, I applied to a position and am moving in 2 weeks when the school informed me I am in fact 3 credits short of graduation. No apologies, no understanding and complete failure in communication. The online program system of "success coaches" is bullshit everything is automated and pre fabricated nothing is personalized to you as a student and therefore you got lost in the masses while the school collects money from you. My career is now on the line because of the miss representation of my graduation date and no one in the department will support or advocate for me. This school was very disappointing. I enrolled in an online class and was told a few different stories about how financial aid would pay the entire amount of the tuition including books, but nothing was further from the truth. Being unemployed at the time, the financial aid package I received was not enough so I asked for a discount or a better financial aid package as many colleges work with students who do not have the resources to cover the costs of tuition and books. Unfortunately, Utica College could care less about students being successful nor do they offer any additional aid. Being a prospective student, I asked numerous questions but the more questions I asked the more annoyed they got with me. I finally hung up on them because I could not take the attitude of the Admissions Manager. I'm sorry I wasted my time, and I got so stressed out over this school. I'm not sure if the program has been rearranged since the previous posts, but I have had a fabulous experience with the online RN to BSN program at Utica. Yes, some classes are more challenging than others, especially given the shortened time frame. There is no "one size fits all" program for everyone. I did a full year with UMASS Boston's online RN to BSN program and couldn't stand it, so I transferred. I am also 3.9 GPA student and I take my education very seriously. I am also a wife, mother of two small children, and work the evening shift at the hospital. As long as you are disciplined enough to stay up to date or ahead of the reading, the program is manageable. Most online programs have a group work requirement because nursing is one part of a collaborative team. That has been the most challenging so far, but we've made it work. Most of the classes are interesting, fun, and have added to my knowledge base. I have found all but one professor to be very receptive and willing to help when requested. I can't say enough about my success coach and the wonderful person who assists me with my financial aid questions. Transferring from the UMASS to the Utica online program was a great decision! read more

I agree with the other poster about RN to BSN. I too am a 3.9 student, and found the online classes which were "built up" to be geared towards full time working adults with families was anything but. The set up is a mess and disorganized, and while some classes can be accomplished in 8 weeks, others cram in information that should be a full semester and it is impossible to complete all the exams, papers, and postings in only one week, not to mention they put you in groups to work together which is totally defeating the purpose of independent study for people who already have full time jobs, and families. It's impossible to coordinate with classmates who are just as busy as you are. I agree that you will ask for clarification, the teacher will give it to you, and you follow it, then it's still wrong. ?????? I don't get it, at all. If I wanted the classroom setting and the inconvenience, I would have applied locally to a school for 1/3 the price. read more

Regarding Utica College Accelerated Nursing Program based in Liverpool, NY. I would NOT recommend this program to anyone. All the previous posts are true and accurate. This program is so disorganized and inconsistent. They change policies mid-way through the semester without any regard to how it will impact students. They dismiss any concerns regarding the program and almost appear to be vindictive to those who do bring concerns. Most course grades are based on 2 or 3 extremely difficult exams so if you do not do well on a exam then you do not do well in a course. Exams are given without any study guides and indication regarding what will be on the test. You are told to read 600 + pages, to know it all in detail and be prepared to be tested on it all, again in detail. During our clinicals we were told to go into rooms and perform assessments and care without any guidance at all. One of our clinical instructors was going to create a Poster Board with useful information to help us learn critical information and she was told not to do so. This program does not appear to have any interested in making sure you are a successful student or nurse. I could go on and on. I am a good student and am doing much better than most. My only intention in writing this review is to make sure that other people don't make the same mistake I did. read more
