This was on April 2, when the Y charged his account. Because the card was frozen, the payment did not go through. The Y immediately charged my son a $35 fee. I called the bank, but they will not reinstate the card for several weeks. I contacted the Y and they refused to help. Not only that, but THEY RAN THE CARD THROUGH AGAIN FOR APRIL 4 WHILE THEY WERE TALKING TO ME TO TRY TO INCUR ANOTHER $35 CHARGE!!!!! I asked to talk to the branch manager or billing department but was put on hold indefinitely. I tried to call YMCA of Central NY, but they routed me back to the Northwest Branch. I then got an answering machine message. I will go pay the $77 right now so my son doesn't incur a second $35 charge, but neither I nor my son will ever go to the Y again.

I use the gym facilities (including the eGym system which is very cool), and we have thought about taking advantage of some of the childcare options they offer like "parents night out" The place hasn't changed a ton since it first opened. The locker rooms could use a refresh but the workout areas are solid. I'm not currently a pool user so I can't comment on that. I do feel like the cost to benefit ratio is worth it - especially for a family membership.

Due to the fact that I am not a large donor of the YMCA, those who do donate are basically buying a pass to be terrible people and the YMCA as a cooperation are allowing it. They waited so that I could get charged a late fee and now they won't let me cancel my membership. Terrible place to call a "family center". Even Planet Fitness is better than here Edit: a lady i reached out to came back to me by email. She said an email was sent to me the same day the payment was declined but that was false. I check my emails periodically throughout the day and nothing was sent, not even in my junk folder. She went on to discuss the policy and waiver that was signed but i think that was a cover up for their problems with communication. Not to mention the people at the front desk don't know anything. Nice array of group fitness, though I think Tues/Thurs should offer something in the 11am-1pm timeframe (preferably yoga). It has a pool, hot tub, sauna, many eliptical, stationary bikes and treadmills as well as other types of stationary machines. The view of the inlet and nearby park is wonderful while you work out. The free weight area is nice and the members and staff are very willing to help you and show you how to use the machines. The personal training pros can really help you meet your fitness goals.
