Ribs

We were greeted with a huge smile and welcomed like neighbors into the cozy and well decorated dining area. It's been a while since I met a pit master who puts so much passion into his food (check the plating Pics). Chance uses flavors that blend together masterfully and are the perfect balance of smoke, sweet, and savory., Street corn - phenomenal The ribs (some with peanuts)/ incredibly moist and subtly sweet. You can taste the cherrywood smoke which plays great against the sauce. Cornbread, great blending of flavors Pulled pork. Sweet, moist, well done Fingerling potatoes. Crispy and a great bite. Flavor in each forkful Macaroni and cheese, savory and cheesy.. nailed it Chicken and ribs. Outstanding Do yourself a favor and come visit, this place is definitely in the hidden gems category and I'm eagerly looking forward to a return visit.

Chef Chase does an AMAZING job as a one man show!! We literally found this place one night while driving around lost out of our minds. Everyone in the car at once said "Oh my God that smells amazing!" And we pulled over to get the name so we could come back during business hours. I'm so happy we got lost! It was a feast! Chase's family style presentation and the food's presentation was incredible. It was really art. It's a small bar converted into the best gem in Utica. I don't really like street corn but I had 2 of his...it was the best corn I've ever had and the rest didn't disappoint. We all fought over everything it was so good! I truly feel that it was the best meal we had in our 10 days in Utica.

Side of Mac $8 - admittedly the bowl is huge so share it!

The food was so delicious! Honestly my only complaint is how quickly the price added up. We asked for water, and got bottles, not tap water, ka-ching $7.50. The side of mac was listed as $6 but charged $8. $16 for sticky ribs, totally worth it. $15 for three rib tip tacos sounded steep, but they were so full of meat, also worth it. $10 for three pieces of cornbread is too much even thought it's some of the best cornbread I've had. Somehow we got out the door paying over $70 for three of us. We ate it all, except for a little of the mac and cheese. I would absolutely go back and would recommend, but I would order differently the next time. This place is a one man show, but was not busy when we went. Food came out quickly.

Sticky Ribs Korean Style

This place was recommended by my husband's co-worker, ITS AMAZING!!! We got the "Tasting menu", at $45 you get to taste everything on the menu PLUS more. He has such unique sides like fried shishita peppers with a yogurt sauce dusted with dehydrated pork belly powder, amazing, the Korean sticky ribs were fantastic with the combination of flavors that he adds (pic added). I just can't say enough about all of the food.

I got a chance to try several dishes last weekend. There are quite a few BBQ places around Utica, but in my opinion, having an actual outdoor smoker ‍ takes the cake... thats rare. We tried most of the main items on the menu and they were ALL delicious. You can TASTE how much intention and attention goes into crafting these dishes . Food with this type of finesse is definitely needed in this area. The owner was funny and energetic and the dining room is petite and comforting. It feels small and homey but with bbq that is classic but also modern . Everything was individually great, my stand out favorites are the Korean barbecue ribs they have peanuts sprinkled on top, a carot vinaigrette slaw & Bring together several flavors. He was definitely going for Unami here.. The beans are fantastic they are the perfect sweetness, and the cornbread as well. The pulled pork mashed potato might have been my top fave.

Smoked Chicken Wings with their everything sauce

I'm not sure where to begin so I'll start with this, I can not recommend this place enough. I travel and eat out ALOT. I almost never post a review for anywhere I go but after I was two plates in, I knew this place deserved a review. The service was phenomenal. The owner / chef came out and explained each meal. The plating was better than you could imagine for a small bbq spot. As for the food, the pictures speak for themselves. Every dish I had (6 total) was unbelievable. I couldn't tell you what was my favorite so I'd say just order the whole menu. Again, I can't recommend this place enough. I know I'll be back here any time I pass through Utica.

Corn bread

A little off the beaten path, we "stumbled" upon this place from it's outstanding Yelp reviews! We were NOT disappointed!! We were warmly greeted by the chef/waiter/does-it-all man in charge. The place is small and cozy, but our party of ten was comfortably accommodated. We were served up generous tastings, served family-style, each one introduced with a description of ingredients and the vibe targeted. Everything was fabulous!! I cannot remember the names of all the dishes, but we were served corn bread, smoked Gouda dip with chips, Korean sticky ribs, street tacos, chicken nuggets and French fries for the kids, smoked chicken, Cole slaw, salt potatoes, pulled pork, two variations of macaroni and cheese, baked beans, and brisket. Each item was prepared with his own delicious "take" on herbs, spices and on-premise smoke. Everything was served hot and fresh and beautifully plated. The place was clean and sweetly-decorated for the holidays. Prices were not out-of-line considering the variety and abundance of food and care taken in the preparation and service. We can't wait to go back!!

Cornbread

Insert expletive here. Super moist fall apart lick your fingers ribs. Not sickly gooey sweet, but perfect. Best play on a quesadilla that I have ever put into my mouth. All scratch made, the chef will talk your ear off about what he has in it. Lots of love, lots of heart. Well worth the cost. Good selection of specialty sodas.

Was sad when Boneyard BBQ closed. This gem opened up in the old Boneyard location on Roosevelt. I have been in twice now and have experienced both dine in and to go. Restaurant underwent a huge make over and now is lighter and airier more conducive to family dining. Have heard a lot about the Korean Ribs but have not tried them What makes this place great is the family atmosphere and wonderful and friendly service from the family who purchased this business. Very warm and welcoming. The regular ribs were amazing and loved the salt potatoes would have preferred less BBQ sauce on sandwich especially for to go as sandwich was soggy but looking forward to checking out more of their food. Would recommend this restaurant for a great meal !!!

Amazing wings despite my photography! I was shaking they were so good! Lol

A real struggle on graduation weekend:…read more Party of 12, Saturday night. We were told that it wasn't going to be a prix fixe menu as we were a party of under 12 when the reservation was booked (we asked). It was. Selection was somewhat limited particularly for the vegetarians but the waitress said that they could swap veggies in for the trout in the risotto. They didn't. It was just risotto. Potato leek soup. So salty that it was inedible. Like sea water salty. Three of us sent it back. NY Strip. Boring and clearly hadn't been seasoned before cooking (ironic). Not quite cold but really, really close. A little tiny ramekin of chimichurri sauce which I was supposed it make it interesting or tasty I guess. It was neither. The whipped potatoes were delicious. Desert was a borderline interminable wait. And then they served gelato and sorbet to four of us. Think milkshake. A thin, runny milkshake, approaching soup. The food runners and waitress were so embarrassed they couldn't look at us when they dropped the desert and ran. Who lets ice scream, posing as soup out of the kitchen. It used to be a quaint little place with fantastic food ... And now, an overpriced, industrial'ish place with sub-par food (although the owners are clearly cashing out, leaning on its prior reputation). Unfortunate. $85 a head, $1,500 all in with drinks and tip.
