I had asked Rare Breed to come out and assess my natural gas line this week, unfortunately, the…read moretechnician showed up two hours past the time stated. They had done an assessment accounting 2 possible options: replace the 2 pipes and elbow over 4 hrs or replace the entire pipe network. the technician was very nice and was willing to talk through everything. Ultimately, after getting the quotes, I could not go with them. I was well aware of the parts needed, and material costs however, when they showed me the quotes, there was a large disparity between what was shown on the screen initially for the 2 pipe fix and then five minutes later it was showing an additional zero on the end. I don't know if that was on purpose or not, but it threw up the red flag for me. In order to better assess, I had asked them to break out the material costs from the labor rates and overhead so that I could see an honest quote. The technician called the owner who immediately had dropped the price down which while that would seem reasonable automatically through another red flag due to having that much overhead built in. The owner, of course, pushed back, saying, nobody would ever provide an overhead rate, but I know better. They had discussed over the phone attempting to break out the material costs which he then gave me the total, but did not show it on the screen, however, I do take this as more honest than most companies would be. Ultimately there were enough red flags for me to wait and I'm glad I did because I was able to get Pitcher, plumbing out to do the work the next day and the entire job cost the exact same as the material cost quoted by rare breed. I will say I did receive another quote that was far more outrageous than what I received from rare breed, but it's still not acceptable. All this tells me in the end is that there is a large disparity between these plumbing companies, providing reasonable costs and honest rates is rare. But there are companies like pitcher plumbing that have been around for 40+ years and still provide reasonable costs and do a fantastic job. I feel bad for people that continue to be taken advantage of.

They were fabulous to work with. Easy to book with, great communication, lovely to work with, honest, fast, and seem to have done a great job (from what I can tell, not like I'm a plumber :)). The only drawback is that the cost was at least 2-3x what I would have expected, especially for a non-emergency, non-weekend service, so just be aware of that going in!

Brent was awesome from the beginning of my contacting his company, until he had finished his job…read more He came out to give us a quote on a bathroom sink that wasn't draining. The pipes had already been cleaned under the sink, but it turned out there was a blockage in some old pipes in the wall. He came back the next day and opened up the wall in a bedroom behind the sink in the bathroom. He was able to clean out the pipes and replace a pipe that had been corroded and ended up breaking during the auger process. Brent and his coworker worked quickly to diagnose the problem and also cleaned up everything before leaving. I was very impressed with his work ethic and thoroughness with the job, as well as his honesty regarding what needed to be done. He gives a two hour window when he is coming to allow you to plan your day and his time for scheduling is very reasonable and not far out. Sometimes same day, or a few days later, depending on the situation. I will definitely call Brent again when I have plumbing problems that need to be fixed.

And I run downstairs to find my basement flooded with water pouring in from my cement wall. I called ASAP left a message on their voicemail and got a call back within minutes. I explained my emergency and Kevin, the owner, personally came out that night to help me get things assessed and water turned off in places to prevent further damage and coordinated with his crew to be out in the next 48 hours to fix everything. I thought it would be thousands of dollars given the off hours and emergency nature of my issue but no the entire job was less than $1000. Shocked the hell out of me. These guys are truly honest.
