The postmaster (and only employee) is very friendly and helpful. Hard to stand all day, but she does it with a smile.

Dear US Postmaster General:…read more if you are looking for additional locations to consider for permanent closure, might I suggest THIS ONE, based solely on the woman working there at 9am Friday January 8th. Dear Readers, picture in your mind the stereotypical grouchy, unsmiling, overpaid Government employee, and you will know what I am talking about. I was 4th in line, witnessed her bossing around the poor man working with her, then getting bitchy with the man who shoveled out $80 to send a box overseas, but he didn't speak English. Hey, he had the right forms, and the $80 in cash, so who cares. And my crime? I am moving to DC, needed a PO box, and only had my Driver's license with me. Oh, and a wallet full of other ID's, but not my vehicle registration, because that was in my car, which was not in line with me at the PO, because why would it be? What is wrong with my credit card with a photo? It was good enough at another US Post Office? What about my Blue Cross Blue Shield card? What if I didn't have a car? Stupid, miserable postal cow. So I went to the very nice PO up in Cleveland Park where they were so nice, I felt as though I was home for the holidays. Nice man at the counter (cute in a postal kind of way), nice woman (Julie? Julia?) got my box all set up for me......

Well, really my one star is based solely on the one woman working today (8/11/12 @ approximately…read more11:40 am). I was using the automated postal center, and had two packages to mail. I was about to put them in the package drop, but then I read the note that packages over 16 oz cannot be dropped there (one of mine was). I knew there was one worker there, behind a closed door with a bell, as she was "helping" some other guy when I first came in. There was another couple that entered a few minutes after me and they were trying to figure something out about international mail. Another women and myself tried to assist them, before pointing them toward this mysterious door, behind which lurked an indignant postal worker, I would find. However, the postal worker was decent to the couple, so I figured I would try my chances. Before she closed the door, I dashed over to say - "Sorry, I have a question also." Why I started with that, I don't know, other than to appease the postal gods from tearing off my head. So I then quickly explained my dilemma (one package over 16 ounces, box says over 16 ounces is a no go, give to employee). She asks me if the packages are all ready to go. I said that they were, so she directed me to put them in the said box. I said "Are you sure?" - which was the wrong thing to say I found, as she became very defensive. She replied "ok", which I thought meant she was going to take the package, but then she was closing the door. I said "ok?" she said "ok, I told you what to do. Then you want to ask me if I am sure, this is my job." I said "Ok miss, I don't know why you have to be mean to me." She responded she was not being mean to me, but that I was questioning her integrity. I replied "Miss, I am not questioning your integrity, I just want to be sure you heard what I said about the weight." She responded that she had heard me because I repeated myself three times- which I had not. She then just closed the door on me, so yes I did say -in my normal speaking tone- you wonder why people do not like federal workers, it because they are all so rude. So I admit, not all federal workers are rude, but I have encountered my fair share of rude postal workers. I understand that my tax dollars do not go to them, unless it's a bailout, I do try to support government entities over private ones. And i support workers and unions. However, my experience with USPS really makes me question my thought process on this. If these rude postal workers worked at a private carrier, try would be fired in a few months. I would agree with Margot D who posted a review a few years back, that if in need of suggestions, the Postmaster General should close this branch-or at least remove this worker -as she is probably causing them to lose out on business. At least, they lost mine at this branch. All I am asking for here is some common decency-treat me, and the rest if your customers like humans. A little decency can go a long way in having returned to you.

Tracking estimated delivery in Charlestown IN on December 19th. I signed up for tracking alerts. The package arrived in Evansville IN on December 18th. It sat in Evansville for a day then was sent right past the (Louisville KY) area to Cincinnati. Why, how stupid. The shipment sat in Cincinnati for a day and a half and then on December 20th sent to the correct USPS Regional Center in Louisville 30 minutes away from the final destination. It left Louisville early morning December 21st with no destination listed per Tracking. The package showed up December 22nd in Leitchfield KY two hours away from destination. As of this writing it's sitting in Leitchfield 3 days past the estimated delivery and not even close to destination and no estimated delivery date. OK I know the standard line, it's Christmas time and they're busy YA DA YA DA. If you bother to follow the tracking, busy has nothing to do with it, it's incompetence. Finally, I signed up for alerts and the ONLY alert I got was when the package arrived in Evansville. All other tracking was done manually because I hadn't heard from them. There needs to be a total housecleaning from top to bottom at USPS and replace these clowns.

What made me give 2 Star is an attitude of one of the male assistants. He on purpose put me down in front the whole line of customers trying to make it seem like I tried not to pay overage fees ($3! ). When I walk to po box from I don't take my bag with wallet in it because one time I was robbed while walking with purse and I have ptsd from it. so I used to put the extra fees on my tab then pay next time when I drove and had my bag with me and noone ever said it was a problem. That day all of a sudden that man said it doesn't work like that. He sounded very annoyed. He said that I couldn't take my packages and everything he said was hinting that I was trying not to pay. I make $200 per hour as an influencer so it would be unlikely. What is likely is that that man was trying to feel more domineering by trying to put down a woman via being in charge of the Ups shop. Everytime he would give me packages he looked displeased for whatever reason but that day was when he let it out. I get a lot of products sent to me by the brands. I work 7 days a week to be successful at what I do. If that employee finds it triggering he might want to work at a career upgrade i nsteaf of belittling female customers.

Two days after drop off, I called the location and asked what was going on. The store associate had no idea why the system had not updated but admitted that delivery was now late and that I would be entitled to a refund after delivery completed. Finally, late that day, the status updated and the package was delivered (at least one day late). The following day, I called the local location to request the refund due to the late recovery. The store associate told me it would take several weeks to process, and that I should check back in several weeks if a payment was not received. Several weeks later, I emailed the store manager to request an update on the refund. He said all refund requests must be made within 15 days and it was too late and they had no record of my request. So to recap a) I was told to request a refund, b) I requested a refund the very next day *and was told to check back in several weeks* and c) after several weeks, I was told it was too late to get a refund. I like UPS, but do not use this UPS location. It's either poorly run or the staff lie.
