My large, Cane Corso dog was over-protective when officers knocked on our residence. I worried that the officers may react negatively with the dog. They did no such thing. They were aware of the dog, however knew he wasn't a threat. On one occasion, they gave my Son an awesome K-9 stuffed animal while we waited at the department. He got a police badge sticker too. We stopped by the fire station for our son's 2nd birthday and it was soooo awesome! The staff all…read morewas extremely friendly and family oriented. They gave us a tour of the station and let our son explore the different rigs. Some fire men even came out to talk to him and hype him up which was so cute! Our son got a goodie bag and a hat and talked non stop about the fire trucks for weeks afterwards. They also have a free museum.

I discovered this place while taking my son to a day camp that was using this area as a homebase for the day. I wasn't exactly sure what to expect but I found a fairly expensive parking area, shaded picnic tables, and a flat dirt path that meandered along the shoreline of the lake, offering access to the water itself every couple hundred feet. Along the path, there were also placards detailing the history of the site and even some interesting remnants of former buildings that include you into what happened here in the past. This is a great place to learn some of Tahoe's history while enjoying its current beauty without the crowds of the larger public beaches. There's also a section of this area that is available for rent for private functions too, and you can enjoy the history and beauty during a private function with friends and family.

We tend to bounce back and forth from California to Nevada several times a day. This time we stayed on the Nevada side of the state line as that was the best deal we could get and the nicest rooms. Most of our activities were had on the California side. We love all the outdoor music venues California has to offer. From acoustic guitar to rick music all is offered free of charge at local restaurants. The rick band was had by a lot of fans sitting in the courtyard on benches or on the fountain wall. Some people even brought their own chairs. As for beaches and lakeside views both sides have lots to offer. We were tempted to go to Zephyr Cove, but were worried about parking so we passed this time. We like the option of Driving to South Lake Tahoe parking once and walking everywhere so we went to the beach on the stateline and walked in on the California side. We saw lots of boats crossing the line as they drove all around enjoying the views. We did stay on the Nevada side of the line one day for breakfast at a local coffee shop and that was really nice. Other than that we crossed the line and ate on the California side. We love bouncing back and forth and we hope you do too.

It was complicated to unravel the mess I had in the way of records for this purchase, past history of boat, etc. The lady that I met with was very nice, she had a good sense of humor, and worked quite a while to sort it all out but in the end she did, and I got my official papers showing I dealt with the use tax thing so now I can get title to my boat at NDOW. The state facility on Arrowhead is a nice building, lot of parking.

The office is in the…read moreCollege Parkway Business Center (North) at the northeast corner of East College Parkway and Research Drive. I had ordered a GoPro camera from California, delivered to Nevada, and was charged sales tax on GoPro's own coupon/discount, which should not have occurred according to what I have read of Nevada law. I went to their office to get clarification and show them my invoice. They first have to buzz you in, which they did. They have a camera mounted at the door from which they can see you. Their office is to the right. There was no line, as I was the only customer there (that is Carson City for you!). There was a woman at the service desk and she was very helpful. She thought it was correct what I was charged, as she said the company can either charge Nevada sales tax on their own discount, or not, as long as they do it consistently to all their customers in Nevada. But she got another person who helped me more. The other person said I could request a written advisory from the Department of Taxation. She gave me all the info. I would have to prepare a letter with any proofs and explain what I thought was wrong, and they would get back to me in a month or two. I left very happy with their service and my (lack of a) wait time. Parking was easy: right in front. In then end, I did not submit the letter, as I was leaving for a trip, and it was a lot of work given the small amount of money involved.

We have been on a quest to visit all the state capitol buildings. This Nevada one was our 28th. I…read morealways enjoy the history of the area and the structure itself. This building was more museum like and less active use than others we have been to. They had several other buildings on the grounds where the assembly, senate, and state supreme court are actively working. The governor's office was still in the original main building. They had some nice museum displays that we walked through on our self guided tour. We came on a weekday and were able to walk through most every area of the building. The original rooms for the assembly, senate, and supreme court were preserved to be as they may have been in their early days of use. There was a lot of wood accents throughout the foyer area on the staircases and trim. The outside grounds had some monuments and statues to see, and a lot of lush green trees around the building. We could not get a photo of the exterior of the building with the dome due to the heavy tree cover. There was a scale model in the museum that shows what the structure looks like so we got an idea of the size and configuration. If in town, I'd recommend making this stop to experience the heart of US history.
