I dropped off my paperwork in the front of the DMV 6 weeks before my driver's license was to expire. Unfortunately, my doctor forgot to check off one box. It came back to me one week before it was expiring on my birthday. Because of the weather the DMV was closed for a couple of days. I was in a panic because I was flying out the next week. So here I had to go into the DMV which I tried to avoid in the first place. Aspen gave me an appointment the first available was in the middle of March. I told her I was flying out the next weekend and showed her the proof of my flight. She left me for a moment and came back and told me that they would call my name and got me in that day. She really didn't have to do that, but she wanted to help me. She was so kind and thoughtful. I also had a great experience with Gaby. She also was very kind in this matter. How is it that after decades in existence and all of the technological advancements made to assist organizations just like this one, the DMV experience is still the same? More than a month ago I made an appointment. I was pleased to receive the email and text reminders and those asking me to confirm. I arrived 30 min early for my appointment and I confirmed I'd arrived as soon as I was in the parking lot. I checked in at the kiosk as soon as I arrived as well.l, and I even checked in with the questions clerk to be sure I had checked in and had all the documents I needed. 30 min after my appointment time I checked the status link texted to me and found I still had an hour to wait. How is this acceptable? Making the appointment wa shortcut enough bht learning I had to wait more than an hour from the time is just infuriating. The DMV is the only organization that can exist with this level of service. What's the point of an appointment if you're asked to wait as long as those walking in?

this place is as crooked as they come. first they take the word of a police officer who perjured…read morehimself with incorrect information on a ticket. when i told the female da what was all wrong with the phony charges they made me wait and wait just to give me a court date. i then had to travel back to carson weeks later. at this time the da wanted me to plead guilty to a lesser charge with no points. i was given a choice to pay less and or see the judge. she said the officer was wearing body camera. i said let's go to trial. the officer lied on the witness stand, they could not produce the body cam video as the da did not think she had to bring it and the officer still tried to claim it was my car speeding because he had the vin number which he got off the registration. however the address in my registration had my new address in a totally different city and had never been registered to the address the officer wrote. the judge was even more crooked than the officer and the da as the judge allowed the lies to occur, ignored my evidence showing the paperwork when i brought my car with my new address and the judge was rude, could not careless and was going to find me guilty no matter what. the made me pay the fine. this review is long and i am not done!!!!

This very informative Academy offered me the opportunity to learn about the various services offered and to observe a large array of situations that Officers encountered daily. Here's some of the services that I had the privilege to learn more: - Detention Center Tour (Learned the difference between Jail and Prison) - Coroner's Office - Detectives Division - Lab & Vault Units - SWAT - Search and Rescue (Volunteer) - AERO Squadron (Volunteer) - Mental Health (MOST) - Special Enforcement - Gangs Unit - Dispatch Center - School Resource Officer (SRO) - Volunteer Organization (VIPS) - Traffic - K-9 Unit - Patrol - Active Shooter/Post IHOP Education I very much appreciated the time that Sherriff Ken Furlong shared with us at the beginning of each session, and professional knowledge that his officers and staff shared with us during all their presentations. It was eye opening at times to realize how much goes on in greater Carson City and how big (Lake to Desert) this Country really is. Special thanks and gratitude to Colleen Schiller for coordinating all of this. My Wife Gayle used to run the Citizen Academy of the City of Walnut Creek and believe me, putting on programs like this are a LOT of much appreciated work. Thank You. Notes: 1. I hope that I'm never on the "other side" of any of these fine officers. I do try to convince my Wife that I'm a "Bad Boy", but she's not buying it. 2. Douglas County (where I live in Genoa) has a similar Citizen's Academy program. Please contact their Sherriff's Office for additional details. 3. The Carson City Sheriff's Office does a pretty good job communicating various crime issues and requesting information. I read about things like this daily via my newspaper subscription through the Nevada Appeal and the Record Currier. Douglas, Lyon, and Story Counties too. 4. Citizen's Academy presentations may or may not sometimes be biased towards the positive. I personally thought I received balanced presentations and was pleased that the officers seemed to want to be there, were straightforward about their duties, and were eager to answer questions. 5. If I were to suggest any improvements, maybe bring some Fire Department presentations into the mix would have rounded out my "uniformed services" knowledge. 6. Another goal of this Citizen's Academy is to recruit volunteers for various programs. There's some paperwork involved (which I have in hand), and I'm sure that when I do raise my hand, any volunteer efforts on my part will be well appreciated.

The officers there in the Jail were very professional, kind and informative- they all were…read moreinterested in meeting the needs of our family and helpful to make the process much easier. From a somewhat difficult circumstance, they made certain that I was informed, although they were not there for " my protection" per se, I felt that I was treated well and with a great deal of respect. They extend courtesy, professionalism, and work diligently to preserve the dignity of the in- custody individuals, and treat them with a great deal of respect as well. They are challenged daily I am certain, but continue to do their difficult jobs to meet the needs of our community very well. The Deputies in the jail are super- all of them. Thank you for all that you do. Of the names I recall, I would like to personally thank Deputy Carter, Deputy Oropeza, Deputy Garcia, and I am certain there were many more. The woman greeted us ok until we mentioned we were from California. Face fall, "oh." Was her reaction. Once I told her we had family here, always up here, finally moved to our favourite city, etc, etc, did she look at us least somewhat welcoming. Then she said go to the website for info and gave us tourist sheets. I especially wanted to know how to volunteer at the Chamber/Visitor centre but she took that thought right out of me. I know Californians are coming in droves, I get that but the attitude there shows a negative, not welcoming air to potential homeowners, new business owners, new tax payers, landlords, etc. I'm embarrassed for the Chamber and kind of sad...

I'm pleased with than and the fact that I don't need to come here on a regular basis any more. A few things that irritated me came up during my study time here: 1. The rented Conference room was definitely on the clock, with a Library employee often giving the Rabbi a "5 minute warning" before the end of the hour. I note that in my many weeks being here, there was never anyone waiting to get in for the next hour's meeting. 2. During one week and just before class, I took a call regarding my 96 year-old father. I tried the find the quietist spot I could as I wanted to be respectful of other patrons. That spot happened to be behind the desk along a small row of offices. I can't recall the last time I've ever been yelled at by a Librarian, but apparently this spot was considered the holy of the holies and I had committed a cardinal sin. Explaining my father's situation was met with more hostility and when I asked why? and where I could go?, the answers were in essence: because I said so and that this was not her problem. So off into the stacks I went, trying to keep my voice down. That apparently was OK. I felt that I was in the middle of a cheap page turner starring Nurse Ratched. 3. The only practical way to get to the upstairs conference room is the elevator. I'm not sure I ever found the alternate stairway and the bathroom is on the first floor and outside. So regarding that phone call in #2, there's really no where to go and the associated "signage" and staff's knowledge of it is at best minimal and opaque.

They gave us a tour of the station and let our son explore the different rigs. Some fire men even came out to talk to him and hype him up which was so cute! Our son got a goodie bag and a hat and talked non stop about the fire trucks for weeks afterwards. They also have a free museum.

Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5pm; and on Saturday from 10am to 1pm. They are closed on Sundays. Services available at this location - Financial services (money orders, etc), passport, pickup services (mail hold, etc), business services, biometric services (fingerprint, in person proofing), etc. Price - Affordable. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1971 (formed in Washington DC) with your $80B in revenue. Much controversy about your profitability or lack of it. This is an "independent" agency of the executive branch of our US government. You have an amazing history dating back to 1775, but I will not go into that here.

Maybe they should do that in the back when there are 20 people waiting in line. Finally another person comes to help. Both clerks in the back for 10+ minutes. Apparently they can't find what customers need. I've lived in Carson City for 5 years and EVERY time it's a similar experience.

I went here today, Wednesday, April 24, 2019. I parked across the street in the public parking lot…read moreat North Stewart Street and East 2nd Street, and got to use a flashing crosswalk indicator for the first time ever! It worked, as everyone stopped right away for me. There was also available (and free) street parking closer, next to the park, on East King Street. This building is amazing. You first climb the stairs on North Stewart Street, and enter a grand entry hall, with a few carrels and a book return at one end and a view of the Capitol grounds at the rear. The library itself is to the right, and is open from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. There is a librarian at the front who is very helpful. They take turns and there is a new librarian every hour. You can check out books with your Carson City Library card. If you want to do work here on your laptop, this is the place to be So much better than the Carson City Library. It is much, much larger, on two stories, with plenty of carrels and tables to work on, many by an electrical receptacle. There is also free, secure wifi. There are so few people here. I had the entire second floor (upper level) to myself. And the clientele is better. I only saw one person who may have been homeless, vs. many in the Carson City Library. I have nothing against homeless people, but I have seen them abuse services in other libraries (like taking to separate indoor seats for the day and not occupying either one, instead choosing to lie down on the picnic table outside). There are also public computers, which are available for an hour at a time I think. They also open at 8 AM, vs. 10 AM at the Carson City Library, which is more conducive to work. There are clean restrooms on the second floor. I saw a rock collection there as well, with Nevada Tartan Stones, on the west wall. There was a display of the original hand-written Nevada State Constitution as well. At the south end of the second floor, there was a spectacular view of the grand entry hall as well as a book monument that was shaped like an igloo. As I left, I saw a virtual reality station near the librarian's desk .You put on this headset and you experience something amazing. The librarian said it was open to the public. I went to the lower level (basement) to look around. It is just a collection of archives, which looks like a closed office hallway at first. The patron coming up said she was scared to use it at first, as the basement halls go on forever and look all the same. I agreed with her, and decided not to look around. Maybe next time.
