She rattled off some thing and then finally after the end of that rattling on, she said I really don't know, and I said that's all I wanted you to say is that you don't know instead of giving me a wrong answer, I still proceeded to ask her another question and she hung up the phone on me, I called back immediately to ask her why she hung the phone up on me, and she kept pushing the button saying there was a high volume of phone calls I called back with an unknown number and miraculously someone answered the phone but it was not her, I asked to speak to a supervisor and they told me he or she was not there at the moment, the new representative named Tracy so very nicely said that she would return my call when she was done with her customer and I said OK, I proceeded to tell her about what the last representative did to me by hanging up the phone and she claimed to tell me that she didn't know who it was I was speaking with, there are only six people working at that location and I know she was very aware of who it was that hung up the phone, if you have a good business and you like your job you would be more pleasant speaking with people and interacting with people on the phone I would not recommend this title company to anyone there is nothing more rude than hanging up the phone on a customer , If there was a half star option that's what they might get M Blair Nevada

I spend most of my childhood on or around the Calcasieu River, we were always fishing, swimming,…read moreexploring the endless swamps that line the river or just merely navigating the river and its tributaries in our small aluminum boats. One of my earliest memory of the saltwater barrier was the first time I waited for the lock tender to open the barrier to allow me to pass through and the water elevation I wittenesse differential was more than two feet in elevation from one side of the loa and having to maneuver my small boat upstream against the current and elevation change. As I twisted the throttle on my 20 h.p. Johnson Outboard and approached the onslaught of water my heart pounded I suddenly realized my mortality,as my small boat climbed the wall of water I learned the true value of this engineering marvel for the first time and understood its importance. The Calcasieu River varies from a small fast flowing stream in the headwaters to a broad, sluggish estuary from the latitude of Lake Charles to its entrance into the gulf. Flows in the upper basin may range from a high of 180,000 cubic feet per second in the winter and spring to zero during the summer and fall. The lower portion of the river from the city of Lake Charles to the gulf is subject to tidal variation. In 1968, the USACE completed construction of the Calcasieu River Saltwater Barrier on the Calcasieu River north of the city of Lake Charles. This barrier minimized the flow of the saltwater wedge into the upper reaches of the Calcasieu River to protect agricultural water supplies. The structure consists of a lock and a flood control barrier with five adjustable gates.

I thought it was very interesting, but I love paintings and sculptures that feature lonely landscapes and typical North American animals. This did not disappoint. The museum itself isn't so big that you're overwhelmed. In fact, an hour or two is sufficient to take in what's on display. The bookstore is also good, with lots of interesting books and a couple of comfortable chairs to sit in for a brief read through. Admission is free and parking is plentiful. You cannot go straight to the house for a tour, you must meet at the Stark museum across the street, purchase a ticket, and then be accompanied by a tour guide to the house. The museum is free if you'd like to visit that while you are there. Once you walk over to the house you cannot bring a camera in with you. A knowledgeable and very long winded tour guide will bring you around the average sized home for about an hour describing every room in detail. It's a pretty home from the outside and I wish that was all I had seen. The long tour of the inside was boring. Our tour guide was obviously very proud of the home and the history of the house in relation to Orange, Texas, but it wasn't as interesting to out of town people. I don't think that I am being overly harsh. My 70 year old mother-in-law accompanied us; she is a huge fan of old homes and antiques. She found the tour to be too long and to focus on mundane items in the house. My suggestion... go to Orange for the day. Visit Shangri-La and stop in front of this home to see how pretty it is from the outside.

The Old Military Road stretched about 130 miles from Niblett's Bluff to Alexandria my journey started at Neblett's Bluff. About 58 miles of it existed in modern day Beauregard Parish. Calcasieu Parish had 18 miles, Allen Parish had over one mile, Vernon had 17 miles and the remaining miles were in Rapides Parish. This monument was erected in 1958 by Louisiana and Texas Divisions of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and as remote as this location is it's still adequately maintained today by who I don't know. The Confederate army cut this trail to bypass Union blockades and transport supplies to Maj. Gen. Richard Taylor's troops. Because the Union army captured New Orleans in 1862 and closed the mouth of the Mississippi River, southern forces desperately needed inland roads to survive, this had to be quite the undertaking if you're familiar with the thick underbrush in the pinewoods of Louisiana, add in the temperatures, humidity and mosquitoes I can't imagine this being a labor of love or an assignment any enlisted men would volunteer for. This is one of the few reminders that this road ever existed...
