One of the best welcome centers on I-10. Nice job Louisiana on this scenic and clean facility. This is a great spot for a walk around the lake. Watch out for gators sunning themselves. Super modern, clean and welcoming. You've made it into Louisiana after crossing from Texas on I-10. This is a fabulous welcome center with a visitor's center that is open 8:30am and 5:00pm. The remainder of the facility is open 24 hours and includes restrooms and vending machines and a great viewing platform and walking boardwalk trail. This is one of the best State Welcome Centers ever. There is plenty of parking for both cars and 18 wheelers. The grounds are very well maintained. The bathrooms are spacious and clean. The information available at the desk covers anything you might be interested in. There are beautiful and fun animated displays and a free movie telling about the area. What I love most are the picnic areas and the nature trail which takes you in a boardwalk over wetlands where you can enjoy the scenes from the lake, cypress trees with their knees, many trees with Spanish moss hanging down. It's a great place to enjoy nature and walk out that crick in your back after driving through Texas! I took some beautiful pictures while there. The back of the welcome center has stairs leading to the water's edge where there are tons of water hyacinth (it was blooming in October!) Just don't get in the water, and keep track of your kiddos a fur babies, as the lake does have alligators! read more

This is the best welcome center I have ever been too. It's clean, spacious, has a short walking trail, and has many pavilions with picnic tables. We appreciate that the grounds are well-maintained and the 24/7 restrooms are clean. The Louisiana-shaped sign serves as a great photo op. The area is quiet and serene. There is some construction at the entrance, so be careful of that. Lots of parking, large clean parking lot. Inside is very modern and very clean. Restrooms are very clean. This is the best welcome center we've ever stopped at. The bathrooms were all cleaned and stocked and there were a few different vending machines for drinks and snacks. The best part though was the fact that behind the center is a boardwalk that loops around that is perfect for stretching your legs and letting the kids run around and burn off some energy! read more

Top of the line for a welcome center that also doubles as a rest area. Normally rest areas are right on the highways and welcome centers easily accessible after an exit off the highway. Maybe the difference is the state and major city welcome centers. What made me stop? I thought it was the kids that are usually bugging about them potty breaks. I had too much to drink or I'm getting the old lady bladder. Either way I was glad I pulled over. The pond was beautiful. If you are not careful time can get away from you here and I don't think that's quite so bad! Perfect for everyone to stretch their legs from the young, the old, and the pets. I'll keep this one short and sweet. I was on the last leg of my journey from Washington state to Florida and I was in desperate need of a place to pull off and offload some "lemonade" after several cups of coffee and a rather large fountain soda that I chugged on the way from El Paso, TX. I thank the gods that I came across this rest stop. I wasn't going to stop at first because I really needed to make up some time and make it to Florida since driving through California slowed me down due to the wildfires. Also, there weren't a lot of lights leading up to the rest stop so I couldn't really determine where the exit actually was. At the last moment, I swerved to the right and decided that it was best to just stop because there was no telling when the next rest stop would be as I made my way through Mississippi and Alabama. There was plenty of parking and the lot was decently lit. There was onsite security within the building as well. I had arrived at night so I didn't get a chance to visit the visitors center, but I had my priorities and that was to get to the bathroom. The bathroom had a really cool wooden door and kind of seemed very modern as opposed to the usual rest stops with small tiled floors and fluorescent lighting. I was pretty impressed. The bathroom was well stocked as well and reasonably clean and didn't have any strong odors. I wish I had been able to see more of it during daylight hours as it appears there is a dock and walking path that you can walk around to stretch your legs. Just watch out for gators, especially at night. read more

After more than a decade of Louisiana not having a welcome center on I-10 for eastbound drivers this new facility recently opened. It's been under construction for most of that time. It has a very attractive exterior and sits next to a nice sized lake that provides a picturesque backdrop. Parking for cars is in front of the building and if full there is another car parking area that is parallel to the first. Just follow the signs. Inside, the main lobby is very tall with large picture board murals depicting Louisiana life. They also offer free Community coffee. You can walk out back near the lake and I saw signs for a nature trail too. There are several nice outdoor covered pavilions for people to relax and eat while taking a break from driving. The only negative that I saw was in the men's restroom where they only had 2 urinals and 4 enclosed toilets. 2 urinals at a rest stop? read more

What a nice welcome to Louisiana! We parked next to a swamp which had a sign not to feed the alligators. We then walked into a clean visitor center and a bathroom. Afterwards we asked a representative named Betty about a map and we ended up finding out that she and the other representative, Jessalee, were super friendly! Betty even surprised us with a couple shirts from the back! She also told us about a friendly alligator called Sam that's out in the swamp. Love this place! read more

This is on the eastbound side of the I-10 somewhat near the Texas border. It is a good place to stop, get out and stretch your legs, make a pit stop, and reload with some complimentary coffee! Welcome to the Pelican state! Keep Louisiana Beautiful! There are travel brochures & maps, free for the taking. Be warned that the prices on those brochures are not entirely accurate! There are brochures for lots of activities and such. The restrooms are not in the actual building where the welcome center is, but they are just out the doors in an enclosed annex. There are covered picnic shelters. Just out past the picnic patios, there is a body of water. People fish there. Also, there is a sign with a picture of an alligator and below it "No Swimming". Wonder if there are any alligators living in there?! Take no chances. Beware of snakes, also! There isn't a whole lot to do at this place, but it is worth stopping at to wake yourself up if you are on a long drive! It is a nice place to walk around! read more

This rest area is located on I-10, at the Texas/Louisiana border. As rest areas go, this is as good as it gets. When people think of rest areas, they don't usually think of a great picnic spot with waterfront views. This rest area has all of he above. There are numerous shelters with picnic tables that overlook a huge lake that is surrounded by woods. It actually amazes me that this is a state operation. The main part of the rest area offers clean restrooms, free coffee and maps for travelers. The attendants are extremely friendly and gladly offer suggestions for your trip through Louisiana. If you're coming from Texas, and need a pit stop, I recommend you stop here. read more

As soon as you crossed the Sabine River into Louisiana east bound exit and you've arrived at the Louisiana Welcome Center. I sent a correction on the address to the Yelp Team since the location shown is a few miles east so it wouldn't let you check in until the correction is made. This is a great rest area to take a driving break grab some coffee and learn a little bit of Louisiana history. Excellent facility!! I highly recommend stopping for a bathroom stop, or a quick break to stretch your legs. I stopped here on January 15, 2020 for a quick bathroom in leg stretch from Houston. The women's bathrooms are exceptional and extremely clean. The other side of the building contains all of the information about the state of Louisiana. There were two ladies working at the front desk. Both of the ladies were very helpful and attentive. There is a large number of brochures available so you can decide what you would like to see and experience in the state. Outside there is an excellent deck for you to walk around and view the amazing cypress trees with moss! Alligators are also visible at certain points during the day. Sadly, I did not see any during my Quickstop. There are also picnic tables with covered awnings so you can enjoy a nice picnic on a hot day! There is also a nature trail, that leads out to the water, but due to the high water at the time of my visit I was not able to check it out. There are vending machines and water stations for you to refill your water bottle. Definitely worth the stop, instead of stopping at a gas station. read more

Getting to this stop can get very hectic, but eventually through all the traffic and construction you will come up onto this stop. Clean bathrooms and workers on stand by 24/7. Check under the stalls for feet because the big doors slam shut, also watch your fingers! I'm only giving this place four stars for the construction inside the restrooms. read more

This is the first rest stop you see when you are crossing from Texas state line to Louisiana. I love this stop! The welcome center is manned by 3-5 friendly elderly women who are there to answer any questions about their "Pelican State". You can find tons of brochures on any event, hotel, restaurant or tourist attraction. There is always free Community coffee for the weary traveler. If you don't care to stretch your legs there are some comfy chairs so you can sit and watch TV. Outside you can find vending machines with snacks and drinks. The bathrooms are the typical rest stop 1950s look, but cleaner and well maintained. I give this place 5 stars for making you feel like a welcome friend. read more

Bienvenue en Louisiane! The free New Orleans style coffee is a nice pick me up inside. The most common questions from out of towners are usually about New Orleans or Lafayette/Acadiana. I wanted all the info on the festivals that happen during Spring and Summer throughout the state. Lots of great colorful brochures that cover all the hips and haps. Overall a very nice welcome center but very busy during the spring/summer and understaffed. The question I overheard that made me crack up is: "Do you have a map of all the speed traps throughout the state? Because I've had two speeding tickets in two days." Slow down because State Police are savages in the dirty dirty. read more

WHOA! For a State Welcome Center, this place ranks up there! It was astounding! Plus, what a better way to get introduced to the new astounding eco-system coming straight out of Texas than stopping at the Welcome Center! You can learn all about the Louisiana wetlands by stepping into the Welcome center and get all sorts of state info there. Furthermore, the rest area is right in front of a beautiful swamp lands! They have a nature walk boardwalk that you can take a stroll over the swamp and learn about the flora and fauna by experiencing this beautiful nature walk! There will be plenty of barbecue grills and picnic tables to choose from if anyone wants to throw down a hearty picnic before hitting the road again! read more
