Calling Ninde a "community" is a bit of a stretch. This post office is the only business in the unincorporated community. It's more like a minuscule neighborhood. Population:0. This small shed sized P.O. Packs a punch though. The services include mailings, shipping, decorative mailing supplies, P.O. Boxes, stamps, drive by mail drop, and even passports (which is unusual for such a diminutive post office but call to verify since this may have changed recently 540-775-0981.) The hours are M-F 12-4, Sat. 12:30-4. We came here on a Saturday afternoon and it was closed. I dig this cute old fashioned post office with its antique army green mailbox on the side! Worth a gander. Next time I visit, I'm going to investigate the origin of the name Ninde!!

It's aged and dated and rusty. No passport service; but they offer the basics for this basic post office. Port Royal is a tiny town just off Route 301 near the intersection of Route 17 crossing the Rappahannock River and was an important tobacco export point. It's one of the oldest colonial settlements dating back to 1652. The population is only about 150 people and its total area is about .75 miles so don't blink when you pass through! But, you've gotta love the government established postal system for catering to these obscure little towns! M-F 9:15-4:15 Sat. 8-12 Closed for lunch M-F 1:00-2:00

Montross is a cool, sweet town in the Northern Neck... population about 350 which has been around…read moresince the mid-1700s, but was originally called Westmoreland Courthouse established in 1653! There are not a whole lots of businesses in the town square, but the ones they do have rock! There's a hip little coffee/sandwich/art shop, a pizzeria, a Mexican restaurant, a grocery store, a family diner, a brewery, some historic buildings and the famous courthouse, shops, a funky water tower, a farmer's market, a dollar store, a cute LOVE sign, (etc) and of course A LITTLE POST OFFICE! Yes, it's a boring building, square brick, it needs a facelift! The parking lot it patchy, and it's rather dismal inside, and can use to be spiffed up! Just about all the businesses around here have fabulous mural painted on the sides of the buildings, at last count there were about 14 (seeing these murals is a must if you visit this area), planters and are pleasant to look at, then comes this p.o. eyesore. Come on Montross, step it up, and refurbish this important govt. facility and bring it up to date with the rest of this artsy town! The post office is well-stocked and there's a greeting card kiosk, but no passport services.There's definitely that small town vibe here where the employees know most of their neighbors and give them friendly, helpful service. The business district of Bowling Green is only about a block long. You'll find the post office off…read moreMain Street on Milford Street, across from the State Police Office and adjacent to John's Barber Shop. Yes, it's a little like the town of Mayberry! I was surprised that this post office is larger than most with a community of this small size. There's a decent sized parking lot, the interior could definitely use a facelift! It definitely has a musty, old odor! They offer passport service here, again, unusual for a quaint town like this. I hope you're not in a hurry to get your passport either, not all staff is trained for this service. If you make an appointment, you'll have better luck! The hours are 8:30-1, 2-5 M-F, and 9:30-12:00 on Saturday. Expect mediocre service, long waits and blasé personalities. The folks here aren't crazy about their jobs. Nothing to "write home about."
