Wow! Ugh. I hate I even have to write this but I hope that others will not have to go through what I did today. I go on my morning coffee run and then come to this post office to buy one stamp. Disclaimer: the clerk was already rude to the man in front of me. I'm minding my business, 6 Ft away, just observing. I'm next, before the man is even gone from the cube she yells next. I of course wait cause he's there. He walks to the side, I proceed. I ask for one stamp and ask about tracking. She answers and as I go ahead with just buying one stamp. She looks at the dollar I have on the counter picks it up and says she can't take it and pushes it back to me. I ask, really? She says she only takes money the bank will take? I look at it, it has a tear but I literally just was given this from another business. So I say that. I just got that from buying my coffee and how do you know the bank won't take it? She continues to say no and then says give me my stamp back? I am in shock. That escalated quickly. What happen to I can't take that. Let me ask my manager if I can take that. Do you have another form of payment? Where is her manners??? So I just pull my debit card out and now shocked, I reminded her she's in a customer service role. And that she doesn't need to be there if she is going to be rude. I always get rude service here. Except for when the new clerks are there (the Younger girls). I never have issues with the new staff just the older ones and just cause you're older doesn't give you a pass to be rude. Well I mind my elders and usually don't say anything but she was rude to me and to the man so yes, I spoke up. That is not okay... why do people like this still have these types of jobs???? What happens next? She records me? Is that even legal? No this is a business, she used her personal phone. Then all of a sudden, her tone changed and she was a civil human while recording. She got her one minute or less of recording but honestly this proved to me one thing. She felt threatened and why? Cause I called her out for being rude? Government workers know that they won't get fired and you often find this once in a blue moon tyrant of employee. So Dear. Rude Clerk, You were wrong. You are rude. And I pray you can retire soon cause customer service is not where you belong. I'd never treat anyone the way you treated me today or the man before me. Ever! I hope that people treat you good so you know what it's like to be treated with respect. It's a rough time in this world and being kind, cost nothing. I have no idea what you have gone through to be this way but honestly I feel for you. But I will be filing a complaint. read more

I am not a fan of the DC post office (which isn't this location). Our mail carriers don't pay attention to detail & we can't get anyone 100 % dedicated to providing excellent service regularly. Repetitive tasks probably get boring, but that is how I get mail not meant for me and how my mail gets mis-delivered. When my mother's day card wasn't picked up by my mail carrier after two days (since I was trying to avoid visiting a post office), I had to make sure my card was sent. This post office is along an errand route so it works for me. It looked like the staff was practicing safe distancing inside. I was able to use their mailbox outside and not interact with anyone. There is a convenient parking lot behind the post office. I love little post offices like this. Langly Park, MD has one as well. read more

I have been going to this Hyattsville PO on Gallatin for over 40 years, and the staff has always been professional, polite and helpful. Friends have told me how unpleasant the staff is now and after today I understand. The woman was was rude and unprofessional. Her manager should take note of all the bad reviews and tell her to respect customers and behave responsibly or leave. This is really too bad because this PO is a Hyattsville treasure; a beautiful old building in the heart of the city, with original painted murals . It was always a warm and welcoming environment. There is no reason for this woman to bring her bad attitude and rudeness to so many people. read more

In what reality is it normal or acceptable for a package in transit to sit in just one location, unmoved, for 18 days (and counting)???!! Tracking shows it took 1 day to get from NY to NJ. Then 1 day to get from NJ to MD. It now sits in this Hyattsville MD Post Office-- a mere 11 miles from its destination. It has been sitting there for a full 18 (EIGHTEEN) days. I know that the reason isn't because of overstock because it's been too long and it just happens to also have 60+ one star reviews. This used to be a great post office. Now, no one seems to work there. I have been by FIVE times in the last two weeks only to not find a single soul working. The front door is open, but no one is behind the counter. Today I stopped by (during their posted open hours) and there was a sign that said the person who worked there (only 1, apparently) was out to lunch between 2-3. It was 1:45. So I guess I was right and no one actually works here. You can leave your prepaids on the counter (for others to steal). For some folks it's hard to get to the post office. Then they show up only to find it's not actually in service. This is really a shame. read more

We have an ebay business. Post office worker states "my supervisor says I cannot scan your prepaid boxes put them in the window." I need my boxes scanned for proof I did send packages to my customer and that it is in the mail. After great discussion he finally scanned my packages. Of course, we held up a long line. Very frustrated with the manager of this office. We have had 35 packages not scanned from this office since December 3rd with many angry customers. In March of 2018, I set up and PAID for a new post office box rental online ahead of moving into the area because I do not have access to my mail where I live. When I arrived to collect my keys, I was denied a box due to me not being a MD resident. As it turns out, the postal worker was being an asshat because she hates her life. I have since rented a P.O. box in VA and I'm not even a resident. Stupid postal worker needs retraining and attitude readjustment. The worst customer service ever, I called this location to get the phone number for my responsible delivery mail office, since they lost my package AGAIN !!!!!
