It was worth driving a few extra miles. It is not without its weaknesses, however. Being a small branch it sometimes runs on a small counter staff. My last trip there very recently came about because our local post office was counting inventory, so they had no postcard stamps. Huh? Anyway, this time there was just one woman at the counter ahead of us. Cool, except she was trying to track down her mail after doing two changes of address in a row and her electricity was turned off and - well, ten minutes later we were still waiting. Apparently the other employees who were drifting around couldn't wait on customers. Finally he waited on us while the customer still talked to him at the counter. We left and saw her car - a rust bucket (in snow-less Florida!) with a huge bungee cord holding the hood closed. Poor woman. We almost wished we could have given her some money. But we live on fixed incomes these days ourselves. Where was I? Oh yeah, usually this is a fine post office. I suppose timing is everything.

I stopped at this US Post Office on N Park Ave in Apopka this morning after breakfast. It is a…read morelarge post office. This branch has lots of rental boxes for rent. The parking lot is huge with lots of space to park. I walked in to mail some letters. The actual counter and postal workers do not open until 9:00. I was early so I did walk inside and use the mail slot inside to mail off my letters.
