I have been to USC Acradia Hospital. Once it used to be Methodist Hospital, it looked like a very nice hospital, and everything is modern using high-tech equipment. They have very nice Cafeterias the food is really good. Right now, my father in law is having surgery on his left foot. I know these doctors are best.

This updated review is specifically for risk management, compliance, regulatory, and patient relations. The department you are referred to when there was any issue with your hospital experience. Spoke with Nikki on Monday for an hour. It was a productive and engaging conversation to address areas of concern regarding transparency, better communication, and offering a more compassionate approach to everyone who comes into the emergency room. I look forward to seeing some of these changes being implemented in the future. I have updated my review to reflect 3 stars because I appreciate the effort Nikki has made to really address these areas of concerns and contact me back in a timely manner. Minus one star for the service of my emergency visit as it was not the best experience. It definitely could have been better. I will minus a star as there is still opportunities for process improvements as well as better communication. I hope that the changes Nikki and I discussed will be implemented, but until that takes place my review will stand at 3 stars. If you have a bad experience please reach out to this department so that they can continue to improve future experiences for patients.

Are there some covid patients in the ER room?

She is the most caring physician and I felt comfortable with her since my first appointment with her months before. My L&D nurse, Michelle, was an angel- she held me while getting my epidural and was so comforting and loving, even when the epidural went bad right before I started pushing. Everyone was so caring, from the ER nurse who pushed me to L&D, to registration who checked me in, to the nurses who struggled getting my IVs, to the on call OB who performed the amniotomy that kick started my contractions, and the anesthesiologist who started my epidural and came back to see what was happening!! Child birth is DIFFICULT and you all made the experience as wonderful as you could. P.S. the nurses and CNA in Maternal Baby were amazing, too (especially on night shift- you all are wonderful human beings and even better nurses and I hope you know how appreciated you are)

I understand that ER wait times depend on severity and that some patients may need to be seen sooner, but the way the front staff treated people was unacceptable. I went in because of severe back pain to the point where I could barely walk. I have children and a very high pain tolerance, but this pain had me in tears. Around 9 PM, I politely asked if they had any updates because it was becoming extremely difficult to sit and wait. The staff member at the front was rude and told me to "go sit down and wait for the nurse." Every time I approached the desk afterward, I was dismissed and told I would "be called shortly." When I was finally taken to the back, I was only seen for a couple of minutes before being moved again for vitals. They hooked me up to the blood pressure machine but never properly checked on me or removed it. At one point, they placed another patient in the same small triage/check area with me. It was barely big enough for one person, let alone two. The other woman was hooked up to her IV port and left there screaming in pain while I was also sitting there in severe pain myself. It was uncomfortable, chaotic, and did not feel like an appropriate space for multiple patients. I was also told they needed another urine test because something was missed in the first one, but no one ever came back to do it. Instead, they returned with discharge paperwork around 12:30 AM. The next day, I saw my doctor and found out the pain I was experiencing was actually due to a severe kidney infection. I'm disappointed not only by the long wait but by the lack of care, communication, and compassion from the staff during a time when I was in serious pain.

I was in the ER for 19 hours because they didn't have any beds upstairs. That is unacceptable. But the doctors and nurses did their best to care for me until I could be admitted. Wen was part of the overnight staff and was incredible. The ER was not sanitary. The bathrooms in the waiting room and within the ER especially were not being maintained and I might have contracted the flu from using them. Once I was admitted to the second floor, the levels of care were exponentially better. I had around the clock care and a call button for if I needed anything. They made sure I knew what was happening with my body and gave me full control over my treatment options. The food was surprisingly acceptable; sometimes even good. One thing that I found strange was that I never was told about how billing worked or what my insurance would cover. I am lucky that they are contracted with my insurance and I only owe $50 from the ER. But it is concerning that I never was told about billing while I was there. TLDR: Hire more sanitation workers!

It's not everyday you find out that your mom is having heart failure, come in feeling devastated/hopeless, but these people did their absolute best to take care of us with compassion, integrity, and go above and beyond to address our needs. This entire process was almost 2-3 months long, my mom had a complex 15 hour surgery, and yet made a recovery in less than 2 weeks, and was discharged today and is now soundly back at home, and it's all because of the incredible team here. There's a lot of people to name from their amazing staff but here's some specific people that left an incredible impression on us I'd love to give credit to: Station 45: Sydney the nurse was extremely warm, compassionate, and took such great care of my mom during the initial stages of her being admitted in January while they were diagnosing her condition. Critical Care Unit: Joe, Cassie, Cesar who treated my mom with the utmost respect, patience, dignity, and care given her post op condition. No matter how much assistance was needed by my mom, big or small, they attended to her swiftly in all manners, continually provided me reassurance, and thoughtfully answered any and all questions and concerns. Extra special shout out to Felicia Sanders and Haig who went above and beyond to provide my mom with the utmost comfort, you both were angels. Step down unit, floor 2, of West Tower: Shannon, Letty Martinez, Jazzmin, Elena, Becky, Gloria, Robert, Rhonald, Carlos, Art, Brenton, and Jed. Wow this team was also incredible. They continually checked on my mom as well through the day and night, encouraged her walking and movement, breathing treatment, independence, and literally guided her every step of the way in that journey. Extra special shout out to: Hailey Milsark, Mary Cavena, Emily, and Yolanda. I visited her everyday, and never once had to leave with any doubt or worry in my heart and soul, knowing she was in exceptional hands. Cardiothoracic surgery team: Dr Lim, Dr Bob, Dr Andy Chang, Elysa Guran, Melissa, Sunita Boparai, and of course, Dr Armin Kiankhooy and Dr Grace Huang who performed miraculous work in a lengthy, complex, and demanding procedure(s). There isn't enough words to describe our awe at the superhuman job you did to put my mom on the path of recovery and healing given her initial diagnosis. We feel extremely blessed and count our lucky stars that the universe gave us the good fortune to have been put under your guidance and care. Sorry to anyone I may have accidentally missed, but we truly love and appreciate you all. We recognize how difficult your work and job is, and just how demanding it is, and yet you all were continually at it, day and night, with the highest positive attitudes and energy and it made all the difference for us in our healing. You are all the real heroes and we hope you get all the credit and respect you deserve, because this was one of the hardest things we had to go through in this journey of life, and you all made it as pleasant and smooth of an experience as could be. In our experience, we were treated with love, care, dignity, and gentleness, and made to feel like we were a part of their family/friends. I'm no medical expert, but I believe the high level of care we received here is why my mom is making such an exceptional recovery. You all have helped give her a new lease on life. We are truly grateful beyond the words I was able to write here.

One year ago today I had one of the worst medical experiences of my life at Huntington Health…read more I went to the ER with severe stomach pain. A CT scan was performed, but the radiologist apparently misread the results. My appendix had already ruptured and I had an appendicular abscess forming around what remained of it. Because of this error, I was left without surgery for an additional night while in excruciating pain. Surgery did not occur until the following evening. When I was taken into the surgical room, there was blood on the ceiling, which was shocking and unsettling to see before a procedure. After surgery, I was placed in the maternity ward being used as overflow because there were no available rooms. The room felt like a closet. The TV did not work, and the monitoring system initially didn't work either--they had to go find another one. I was given a PureWick catheter device to urinate with, and it was never changed during my stay. I later developed a severe urinary tract infection. A nurse in my family told me these devices are supposed to be replaced multiple times a day. One night after surgery around 3 AM, I woke up in excruciating pain and repeatedly pressed the nurse call button, but the remote didn't work. I could hear nurses laughing nearby but no one responded until I gathered enough strength to yell out. Only then did staff come in. I also remember a night when blood was drawn and the nurse smelled strongly of alcohol, which was extremely concerning. Overall, the experience was chaotic, painful, and deeply unsettling. Between the diagnostic error, the lack of responsiveness, and poor post-operative care, I would strongly caution anyone to think twice before going to this ER if other options are available.

The pre-op process was super smooth -- I got a call a couple of days before my surgery to come in, fill out paperwork, and go over all my pre-surgery instructions. Everyone I interacted with was kind, patient, and made sure I understood everything I needed to know. On the day of surgery, the nurses were amazing! They helped me get ready, checked in often, and made sure I was comfortable while waiting. One even asked if I was cold and offered to warm up my bed -- they hooked up this little tube that blew warm air into my blankets, and it was honestly the coziest thing ever. It really helped calm my nerves. They also let my fiancé stay with me until it was time for surgery, and he had a seat right next to my bed. Later, they showed him where to wait while I was in the OR, which I appreciated. When it was time for surgery, I was wheeled into the OR (which was a bit intimidating -- so bright and white!) but the team moved quickly, and the next thing I knew, I was waking up in recovery. The nurses there were very attentive -- I was in quite a bit of pain and super thirsty, and they immediately helped with pain management and brought me ice chips and water. They even brought my fiancé in to be with me while I waited for my room. After about 40 minutes, I got my own private room, which was great since I needed frequent checks and help moving around. The room itself was clean, though the hospital overall does look a little dated -- some of the furniture had visible wear and tear, but cleanliness wasn't an issue. The only downside was that my room didn't have hand soap or paper towels for almost 5 hours, so I had to use the wet wipes I brought from home. Overall, my stay was comfortable, the staff was caring, and the process was well-organized. I'm healing well and feeling so much better -- really grateful to the team here for taking good care of me.
