You will ALWAYS be greeted with a smile, and likely by someone who knows you or knows of you through your family that comes in (if you are local) 2. It's not crowded. Like ever. I've never had to wait here. There is usually only one person working at the front desk and someone in the back to take care of any problems. 3. The new grid box at the intersection of main st and beechwood has made it much easier to get in and out of the parking lot without making every route 1 driver angry. They have signs everywhere that they prefer small bills and when I tried to pay with a 20 they didn't make me feel like an idiot and let me slide with my 78 cents in my pocket for my $1 charge! AT THE POST OFFICE!!!! I would come here even if I didn't live in Thomaston to avoid basically any other post office.

The workers at the actual post office are amazing! They've never been anything short of polite and…read morecourteous when I go in, they even remember my name -- they'll ask how my kids are, etc. The delivery people on the other hand... they've repeatedly claimed to be "unable to deliver" my packages. One of the times I was literally outside shoveling when they flew past, didn't slow down at all and less than a minute later I received a notification saying that they couldn't deliver my packages because they weren't able to access the area to put them. Today, as I was putting my boots on to go out and clean up the walk way, I see the USPS vehicle cruise by without even tapping their brakes - a notification came immediately after that they were unable to deliver. This is very frustrating - especially since there are temperature sensitive products and my mailbox is easily accessible.

We didn't want to put it in our checked luggage as advised and figured we could ship it home cushioned by excess clothing. Same principle and it lightens our suitcases. The post office was virtually empty when we arrived. One man was being helped, another was waiting. We were in the process of organizing ourselves when a woman dressed in blue scrubs came in and asked if we were next. I told her "kinda, sorta, not really...we're still getting organized.", so she went in front of us in line. We waited for a while. I saw a button at one of the windows w/ a sign saying "Push (hard) for service", so I did and after a brief wait someone came out, helped a woman who had been waiting off to the side and then helped the woman in front of us. We bought a large mailing box and some package sealing tape. By the time we were finished the line for service had lengthened, but we were in and out pretty quickly and the man who helped us was nice.

Alan had…read moregone to the Camden post office and picked up a couple of large Priority Mail boxes this morning, but they were too small for our purposes so we were going to return them when we came to mail our box. We put our new sweatshirts and t-shirts in, nestled the dish among them, put in more clothing and some chargers off to the side and topped off the whole thing w/ our accumulated paper bags, which we can use for recycling newspapers at home. I addressed it, we sealed it and, since we had time, drove to the Camden post office on the assumption that it will be busier tomorrow (Saturday), when it's open only from 9am-noon. We parked in front. Alan carried the box to be mailed while I carried the two boxes to be returned. He directed me to where they were stored and went right to a clerk who was available to help him. After I put the boxes away I joined him at the counter. We had it marked fragile and chose the slowest, cheapest rate since we're in no hurry. It was almost 15 pounds and came to $46 and change. That's about what we were charged for sending the ceramic fish from the gallery in Woods Hole. It would have been more economical if we had taken it ourselves and just put it in one of the large Priority Mail boxes, as well as it had been wrapped. No matter. Maybe we'll remember next time. The clerk who helped us was very personable and again we were in and out quickly.

I lived there and dreaded ever having to go. Their service was horrible and my mailman.... yeah. So I recommend you spend a couple of extra pennies and go to Mail It 4U just up the road. Rude, she could not have been more rude.
