This Newport location has been a welcome change from some of the other locations I have dealt with in the area. I didn't wait more than 30 seconds. The postal worker greeted me and got started. They were courteous and reviewed the options for my package. They didn't push me into a faster or more expensive option. Also, they take credit and debit cards. This may all seem like the typical, expected experience and perhaps it is at this location. I can tell you it is a much better experience than you can expect at other locations in the area.

This post office is a DREAM! Kind staff who know who you are and often go above and beyond to assist you. Generosity, kindness and proficiency show every time I go there and every time a pkg is left on my front porch. I don't know who would rate them less than 4-5 stars especially when you consider Christmas with packages stacked to the ceiling behind them! My sincere appreciation to all of you postal workers who often commute and are sometimes greeted by the cranky, obstinate of Yachats. First of all, at this point they only accept cash or checks-which I find absurd. They do have a tiny sign nothing this that I missed when I went in. The clerk ONLY offered priority postage (I wanted ground) shipping. And when I told him that I didn't want that or have cash, he made a huge deal about how the post office is losing $30+ because they can't void postage (this seems completely false since you can void/request a refund when you click and ship online-which is what I would have done if I knew I would be forced to pay for priority). They tried to deliver at 8:50am, left a note on the door (next to where the hours are posted) saying would try again the next day. Why not try again that day when the shop is open? Next day, 3/13/26, they showed up at 8:30am. EVEN EARLIER!?!? If it wasn't open day before why show up even earlier? Left a note saying would try again later but tracking says will try again next business day (3/16). Is now 3 days late. What's next? Gonna try at 8:00am? 7:00am? Talked to some of the shop employees, this has been a problem recently. But they used get packages after shop opened all the time. I hate to call people stupid, but this hard to explain or justify.
