I've continued having issues with this location. I placed a mail hold with a particular start date. Up to 3 days after the mail hold start date, mail was still being delivered to my home's mailbox. I called 8+ times to this post office and have sent I don't know how many emails at this point. I talked to one person out of all the calls made who said she'd handle this. No one picked up the phone during the other calls. Upon reaching someone also via email, I was informed no mail hold was in place. That a mail hold would start for me any way and at the end of it I'd have to come and get my mail after showing an ID. I went online to the USPS website, made a copy of the mail hold I'd placed, which clearly had the start and stop dates I'd requested, and emailed the information to this post office. I also pointed out in my email that the mail hold indicated I wanted all mail brought to my home by a carrier once the mail hold end date was reached. This was a very easy request, made online, that turned into a complete mess. It's hard to deal with a post office when this type of request is messed over... and this is the second time this has happened from this same location. I'm awaiting an explanation on the cause and an apology for this madness. read more

Post Offices always get a bad rap ... I guess that's how people came up with the innuendo "Going Postal." On our visits to this USPS, we have always had a nice experience. They removed the outside drop-off box because of people messing with it, but parking and going in is pretty quick. We have only used this post office for drop off and Priority mail, but both have been relatively seamless. The inside lobby is bigger than the outside parking lot can handle, but that slight aside, we like the Tinley Park post office facilities. read more

I probably won't visit this post office, especially when I am in a hurry. The lines are always long, very poor service, inpatient customers. The average wait time is about 20/30 minutes. I went to the post office to buy stamps. The cost was $15 and some change so I handed her a 20 and was told they don't take cash. I had to use a card. I did some searching and found out the post office cannot force you to pay for stamps with a card...they have to accept cash. it says right on paper bills that this is legal tender for debts, both private and public. I'll be contacting the postmaster general about this and will not be returning to the Tinley Park post office. read more

This is the WORST post office locally. The clerks are rude. They refuse to accept cash as payment even though legally USPS accepts cash, check, credit and debit. Just left the Tinley Park Post office . I have never been treated so poorly by a "so called" supervisor . I had purchased 2 new keys for my mailbox which cost me $35. I had my son pick the keys up when they were ready and was charged another $35 . I thought there would be no issue in getting $35 back since I had both receipts . The worker went and got the supervisor and she met me at the door in the lobby . she was very curt and nasty to me from the start . she asked me why I didn't give my son the receipt when he came to pick the keys up . she kept repeating it. At least 5 times. maybe more and in an antoginistic tone. I asked her if they had a record of when I placed the order and when I picked it up. she said " yes , but I still don't know what you purchased " . even though the dates would match up and the cost of replacement keys are $35. She just kept repeating why didn't you give your son the receipt . it was so rude and disrespectful and no way to approach a customer . I looked at her and she tilted her head and started starring at me . As I was walking out I decided to turn around and ask her name . she refused to give it to me . She was so disrespectful from the moment ahe approached me. She handled the situation in an unprofessional manner when she could have kindly explained that she couldn't give me a refund and the reason instead of asking " why didn't you give your son the receipt " over and over again . I really wish something could be done about this supervisor but since she wore no name tag and wouldn't give me her name she will be able to do this to more customers . I'm truly disappointed in the Tinley Park Post office . Apparently i wasn't supposed to be charged when I first first placed the order for the keys so it was a mistake on their part from the start . DELAYED PACKAGING PLEASE DONT SHIP HERE!!!! I run a business and ship out a lot of packages every week, this is the only location where a package does not get scanned in the system the same day if u drop it in the blue box in the lobby. For priority expect 2 weeks or more for your item to even show up in the usps system. Have not and will not go back here. Ever since our regular mail carrier and all around Saint Dale has been off for the past few months, the mail in the Pines subdivision has been absolutely horrible. Some days it isn't even delivered. I thought you all were exaggerating so I went to this post office just to see. I apologize to everyone who spoke the truth and said this was absolutely the worst P.O. branch they've ever been to. 2 workers-1 at the counter, 1 in the back with his back towards us. Just needed stamps but the machine was empty. I made a mistake on my debit card PIN number and I was told I had caused the system to shut down. After the 4th register was tried, I finally got my stamps. I heard the clerk lying to customers so she wouldn't have to do anything extra, like look for the duck stamps. I ordered an item, and as of 5:27am on 07/20, it arrived at the Tinley Park Post Office. Expected delivery showed 07/20 by 09:00pm. The mail was delivered and no package. I rechecked on Sunday 07/21 and it now shows 'In Transit to another Facilty' ? Really.... From Tinley Park P.O. it should change to Out for Delivery. Today 07/22, no package ! I want to thank a Tinley Park post office employee named Adam. He went over and beyond the call of duty. We had an over night package from Bonita Springs Florida to Tinley and the tracking was not being updated 11/2 days later. Also, we realized the Tinley address we had on there was wrong. Not only did he try to locate the package he took our number and when it arrived he changed the wrong address to the correct one and let us know. Need a passport appointment? Don't schedule here! We've scheduled an appointment 4 times FOUR! and each time they've called and canceled on us even with me explaining that we made arrangements with leaving work early and taking our Kid out of school for this! I will never be going to this post office again. This office always had slight issues, but today really took the cake. After over half an hour spent waiting in line, I had to leave without half of what I needed to purchase. This facility is understaffed and poorly managed, to say the least. There were only two clerks working this morning, and only one had a functional computer to use. There were at least a dozen people in line waiting with me. We could all see several workers in the back having a team meeting while the two clerks up front struggled. Another patron requested that a supervisor come out to help move the line along. But when the supervisor came out, she was unconcerned and dismissive of the packed full line of waiting customers. I waited patiently. The clerks themselves were kind and did everything they could to help. But somehow they did not have enough postage available to buy at the desk (I only needed a roll of 100 stamps). And after I waited a few MORE minutes, the dismissive supervisor came back out to inform me that she needed a different supervisor to unlock and release the stamps I needed. And, of course, that particular supervisor wouldn't be in until later. Save yourself a lot of frustration and go to any other post office nearby. Oak Forest, Matteson, and Orland would be a better option. read more

Yesterday, 8/30/2022, I went to the Tinley Park Illinois Post office. I intended to purchase a 1.92 cent postage stamp from the auto-post machine. This was for an item to be mailed later. However, two issues came up- 1} the receipt machine was not working and, 2) it accepts credit card payments only. (I do not like putting such a small dollar amount on a credit card. So, I decided to go to the window inside. I approached a window, and told the clerk That I wanted to buy postage for a larger envelope for 1.92. She told me she needed the envelope before she could sell me the postage. This did not make a lot of sense because under normal circumstances I could buy the postage from the machine without the envelope. So I asked her "why?". She immediately got loud and defensive and demanded "I take it down a notch." So, as calmly and as reasonably as I could, I asked her to sell me 4 first class 60 cent forever stamps. She suddenly became irate, and began yelling to her fellow employees that "I am not waiting on her" and got up and walked away from her desk. At that point, I loudly demanded to see a manager. That is when the male clerk sitting next to her next to her verbally attacked me. Demanding that I show respect and a lot of other comments on my behavior that he apparently personally found offensive. The manager, Amy Williams, finally appeared thru a back door and I told her what happened and that the clerk had refused to wait on me. She told me that the clerk would need the envelope before she could sell me the postage. I explained to her that the clerk refused to sell me 4 stamps. She told me to go back in and she would have someone bring me my stamps. However, this did not happen. So, I got back in line. And here is where it got very frightening for me. As I stood in line, The male clerk who chastised me for being disrespectful had left his desk and was standing directly in my line of sight and was literally staring and glaring at me with arms crossed and in a very frightening, menacing and intimidating way. The clerk who I originally dealt with had left the floor. This continued until I had almost completed my business and left the office. I again, asked to speak to a supervisor. This time, a different manager appeared and identified herself as Shanatta Terrell. I asked her for the names of the people I had dealt with. She refused to tell me, She also refused to give me her job title. Then I left. But I could not let this incident go unreported. This is not the first time I and many other customers have been treated incredibly rudely and, to say the least, unprofessionally. This time, though, it went to a whole new level. Outright refusal of service and threatening and intimidating behavior. ***Follow up*** I received a call from Amy Williams who is the supervisor that I originally spoke to. She told me she would take care of it and then proceeded to hang up on me. I have not received the two that I get monthly for two months and the one I get weekly I usually get them a week or sometimes two weeks later. Today I did not receive any mail. Why doesn't anyone ever answer the telephone at this post office? I am handicapped and it is difficult for me to get there in person. I only call when I don't see a solution to my issue from the USPS website. I don't abuse calling them, but when I don't reach anyone, I will try to call up to 4 different times in a day hoping that one time is better than the next. But it just rings and rings and then someone just hangs up the phone. Very rude! I used to get very good service from this post office, but it has really gone downhill in the last year. However, I have the best postman in the world on my regular route and he delivers my mail and packages and picks up outgoing mail and packages great. The problems occur when things get to this facility. Please bring back that good customer service! read more

12-DAYS for Priority Mail? ... YUP, I check the tracking number, and what do I see, but the dreaded, "MISSENT" (aka we screwed-up because we can't read - I live just 5 miles away) ... After 7-DAYS of NO movement, I decided to waste my time and go to their "tent".-This reference will be clear by the end of my review- The first person I talked to (not with), was like a, "deer-in-the-headlights", sooo I talked with a supervisor (?) She tells me that my package wasn't in her "tent", and she DIDN'T KNOW WHERE IT WAS (DAH). I then went home and emailed the shipper and he file a claim - EUREKA, suddenly it's found, and delivered, today 12-DAY LATER ... HA! ... I'm just still ANOTHER person who has been TATTOOED by this INEPT group (Gee, I wonder just how many of them would fit in the "small car" that I'm sure this place has?) I'm confident their CONTINUED RIDICULOUSLY POOR PERFORMANCE will be rewarded with STILL ANOTHER rate increase (only in America) ... Don't have them put a hold on your mail. I had a one month hold and when I went to pick it up, they told me someone else had picked it up. I authorized no one else to pick it up. They had no idea who, no one signed for it and no paperwork to prove it was picked up. Postal inspectors were no help, postmaster was useless. read more

I recently drove by this post office, and every time I do, I get angry all over again by an experience I had in April. April 17, to be exact. Tax day, 2012. I had called around to find out which area post offices were open the latest, and the P.O.'s recording for Tax Day explicitly stated that this particular location's lobby was open till 6:30, so I took the 20 minute drive to make it there to get my taxes post-marked on time, having already stamped my envelopes and being a responsible tax payer and all. When I arrived there, the lobby was full of people waiting for the ONLY stamp-dispensing machine. I went to the counter with my stamped envelopes and was informed that the "truck had left for the day," so she was not able to cancel my stamps, that she would be breaking the law if she canceled it with that day's date. I explained that I had driven there specifically because the recording specified that location. She insisted I was wrong. I asked to speak to the manager because I wanted him or her to know what the recording at his (he was a he) branch said. He said he didn't know anything about the recording. I gave him the phone number and told him to call it. I was super P.O.ed, so I told him that his incompetence had inconvenienced a whole mess of people. Back in the mega line, the other taxpayers and I helped each other out with the postage-dispensing machine, sharing transactions to make it go faster (the machine, by the way, had a minimum of [I think] $5 per purchase). I daintily removed the stamps from my envelopes and replaced them with the dated postage from the machine. So next time, if I do put it off until tax day (at this point, it's kind of a tradition, like sweet potato pie on Thanksgiving or wearing black on Valentine's Day) I will just buy my postage after the counter closes from the postage dispensing machine in the town I live in, thankyouverymuch. Wow - I was incredibly impressed. They were super quick, extremely friendly and personable, and incredibly efficient. The girl completed my passport application was clearly well-trained. I witnessed another post office perform this same service, taking an extremely long time to complete in comparison to my experience. In fact, it was very much the opposite. The girl helping me moved smoothly through the process and before I knew it, we were done. In the very few moments I stood in line, I did hear the other employees help other customers. They all seemed to have the same great attentiveness. I was really impressed how quickly the line moved. By the way -- how sad is it that this is a surprise? Horrible, complete and utter garbage. Generally 5+ people there and only one working. I cannot count the number of times I have arrived with 3 people in line and I stood there for 45min to 1hr just to do a 30 second arrival package scan because the one person actually working has to go disappear for 20mins to help the current customer track down some package they lost. And forget about leaving your packages at the end of the counter for them to scan later; half the time they won't scan them in and you'll have customers screaming at you about their orders because your paid tracking is now useless. I have had no issues in the post office and they are very efficient and friendly. On our block we have a postman that is SUPEr friendly,efficient, on time , and delivers to the RIGHT house. He is supposedly on salary. Then we have a woman who is paid hourly... we get our post 3 hours later and on NUMEROUS occassions in is delivered incorrectly and we are left walking around the neighborhood trying to figure out who jas out mail.Why would an hourly paid employee be delivering so late??? and why all the mistakes?!?! read more

I have been ordering things from Amazon for delivery via USPS for years and there was never an issue. I order a TV (mind you, bigger package) and the driver stated that there is no such address and the item is undeliverable! I called Amazon and they said they've had this issue before with this office and pretty much this means that driver is too lazy to deliver the package! I requested redelivery online with USPS. Their online system told me that redelivery will be today 2/18/15. I went out to meet the mail carrier at 4:43pm and she informed me that no other attempts at delivery will be made. I have had problems in the past with USPS. I have caught them on surveillance video making no attempt at delivery, and not even getting out of the vehicle. I have had items that show "out for delivery" for 5 consecutive days, and the item cannot be located at the post office until I filed a theft complaint. USPS is required by the DMM, Domestic Mail Manual to make 3 attempts at delivery. You're lucky if these slugs attempt one. read more
