If there's a complicated way to do something, leave it to usps to find it. The parking lot at the mechanicsburg post office is the most diabolicaly complicated and inconvenient design I've seen. Then, when you go to enter, the service counter is as far away from the parking lot as possible. I went in to get stamps and the man at the counter, at the furthest end of it, of course, was too busy talking to an employee who was modeling a workshirt to pay attention to me. The carrier that delivers to Oakwood Hills Apartments had a package for me and he CLAIMS he tried to deliver it to my apartment at 3:01pm today. Well, I've been in the same recliner since 2pm and haven't moved. I'm 5' from the door. If he knocked, it wasn't at this apartment, as I'd definitely have heard him. I've had prior issues with the regular carrier, so this isn't a huge surprise. I called the Mechanicsburg PO and they weren't much help either. So, now I have to wait for him to return in an hour or so. Then I have to drive down and pick up my package. I had shoulder surgery, and this isn't an easy task for me. had a package that was "out for delivery" on Saturday , September 17th. usually our postman will deliver paper mail first, then packages will be delivered by van. I got a notification at 4:52pm, just minutes after mail was delivered that the package was being "held at post office at customer customer request". this was never the case. There was no card left letting me know that the package was held either. I only know bc of having the Shop app and tracking numbers. This is absurd. if he didn't want to deliver the packages bc he was behind, fine but don't lie and make it my issue to now have to pick up this package. I pay shipping for a reason. its enough that I receive other ppls mail bc he doesn't pay attention to numbers or street names and rather not weed out their junk mail from mine, I have to usually deliver mail also. absurd. read more

Holding Mail Neighbor went on two week vacation, Mechanicsburg Post Office held their mail per request, unfortunately other neighbor mail was held with the mail over the course of the two week span. They do not answer their phone at this location! I tried half a dozen times and was cut off each time after 30 seconds. I had a "package" delivered inside my mailbox that was missing its contents and had obviously been sliced open. Some days are mail is being delivered later and later. Last night wasn't delivered until 7:45 pm. One day I parked on the street near the mailbox when I returned home from work, which was after 5 pm. I assumed the mail had been delivered. I found out later that the neighbor just happened to be outside when the driver pulled up sometime after 6 pm and told him that he wasn't allowed to get out of jeep to deliver mail but luckily the neighbor accepted it. Complete BS because they get out of their jeeps to deliver packages to the door. If you try calling, most times number is busy or rings off the hook. read more

This post office is horrible! For the past three years I have had issues receiving my mail, plus I receive other people's mail all the time. The result of this is that my clients have sent payment on their invoices that I did not receive, causing my clients to do a stop payment. I've also not received medical bills which of course ended up with collection agencies. And, when our electricity rate was about to go up the electric company sent us a notice but, of course, we did not receive it....but we did receive the $600 electric bill. Two weeks ago (on a Monday), the mail delivery person hit our garbage cans pushing one of them into my husbands truck. She didn't stop, but dropped the mail in the box and took off. On another occasion, I had to run into the Mechanicsburg PO to pick up a package that I was not home to sign for. So I hand my card over, lady goes to look for the package, takes forever...comes back and tells me she can't find it and hands my card back to me in dismissal. I guess the look on my face (I paid $400 for that package and you better find it!) must have registered and she called a supervisor, who found the package in less than a minute. When I called in and complained, (and I was much nicer about it than they deserved), there was an obvious worsening of the issue. I now also get mail that has been opened and taped back together. This happens ALL THE TIME! All of this is...just...WOW! I had to open a PO box at a different location. I am now encouraging all of my clients to pay me electronically and I will pay as many of my bills online as I can. read more

I called several time on 2/6/2019, but no one answered my phone call. The postwomen who delivered my mail had me sign for a package, but the package I signed for was not delivered to me. I thought I had to sign for a package from Amazon, but then realized after looking up on the internet I had signed for the package from Ebay, and not from Amazon. I tried several times to talk with someone at the post office, but to no avail. This is very poor service to say the least when the package content was worth over $300.00. Holy LONG lines! We arrived at 9:30 on a Saturday. We were 15th in line. There were two clerks taking care of folks--both looked like they had been put through the ringer and barely spoke to anyone. If they weren't holding a package of our's which required signature, I would have walked out. While it is our local post office, we will go out of our way to go to either the Enola or New Kingston post office. Poor service, long lines and zero interest in the customer seems to be their motto! read more

Worst postal delivery service I have ever experienced. Packages are marked as delivered, but never show up or show up a week later. Letters that require a signature are never brought to the front door to obtain one and the re-delivery tag is left in the rural mailbox. Packages are crushed into the mailbox or sat on the post next to the rural box which is on the road. I have lived in multiple residences in two different states and have never experienced such poor service from mail carriers. read more

Ignorant and lazy clerks. Know what service you need and the prices by researching online yourself. Usually out of stock on typical priority envelopes or don't even bother carrying some of them. Long lines and usually only one or two clerks. Purchased prepaid priority shipping label online for padded flat rate envelope. They don't even have any padded flat rate envelopes in the office. I asked if I could use the priority envelope. The clerk said you can try, so I mailed my items in the poly envelope. Package was returned, saying that extra postage was required. I ended up not mailing it for several months after the package was returned to me. I find out that the poly envelope the clerk told me to try was charged by weight!!! The clerk that told me try the poly envelope was the one that scanned in my poly envelope with prepaid label. He didn't bother telling me that it was priced by weight nor did he even bother checking anything about the package!!! Months later I come back and to test out how lazy these clerks are, I took my poly envelope with all the "return to Sender" and "additional postage required" markings back into the post office. I asked about pricing for the poly envelope and the clerk told me that it was priced by weight. So I opted for the flat rate box. I let the clerk put together the box since there was no tape anywhere for customers to use. I gave him the poly envelope with all the markings. He didn't bother asking about the additional postage at all. He just put it in to the box and charge me the full price for priority shipping. If you can, go to a different post office. The clerks here are disgruntled, lazy, and ignorant. You'll be lucky to get any greeting from them, let alone a thank you. They look at you in line and lazily wave you over. read more
