A small country post office where everyone knows your name. They have all your postage needs just like in the big city. I must admit I really like the small town feel, from the old building to great customer service with a smile! read more

But it serves it purpose for all things you need to do at a post office. Customer service is good. But being a small town sometimes the line is slow because the customers like to chitchat with the post master. Oh and if you find yourself in Bar Mills in search for a stamp around lunch time.........just remember they close for lunch and reopen in about an hour or so.

Nothing has changed with this branch in Gorham, Maine in 3+ years. They botched my attempt to…read moreforward mail back in 2020, they botched my hold mail in July of 2023, they routinely state via email and text that my Amazon deliveries were delivered and they were not. Certainly there can be issues on occasion. This branch has virtually zero customer service. You cannot reach them by phone to work through issues. When you go in to talk them about issues, they use the same excuse. "we are short handed". There is no ability to escalate issues. When I try to escalate a problem, via email or chat on the USPS website, there has been an error message indicating they cannot process the message at this time. How can incompetence be allowed to continue for so long.

And the USPS is a gigantic piece of you know what, because every time I fill out the "missing mail" form, I get an error message and everything gets deleted. I don't know what is going on, but USPS seriously needs to take some accountability here. Hire more people, pay them more money, just make sure the mail gets to where it is supposed to go!

On Monday we walked in to find a packed room full of people patiently waiting. The security officer James suggested we come back on Thursday typically a slow day. James happens to be the nicest person I have ever encountered. Not only is he nice but he offers to help everyone who walks in with a geniune smile & kind words. So we arrive back to SS on Thursday. There to greet us was James. As usual he's his same cordial self. Sure enough we had only a short wait. Our # 's were called & Nancy waited on us. There must be something in the drinking water that makes the employees extra pleasant. Kudos to the social security office in Saco Maine!!!

It took about 2 hours before I was seen. Which is expected at any place like this. * you CAN schedule an appt and skip the wait* (I didn't know this). There were 4-5 people staffed. The lady that helped me was WONDERFUL! I had so many questions. As Maine laws are much different than Wisconsin. Additionally, I'm young, so I don't know how all of this works. She answered every one, she was patient and kind with me. I would highly recommend this place to anybody!

Had an appointment to transfer and out-of-state license to a Maine Real ID this morning, and wow!…read more It was a breeze, and I was in and out of the door in under 20 minutes. Here's how it worked: I booked my appointment online about a month ago. The day before you'll get an email and/or text verification telling you to text "check in" no earlier than 5 minutes from your appointment time. There were also three very friendly and helpful workers right in the lobby checking appointment names as well and providing direction (one woman verified with me that I had the right documents with me, which was nice). Basically after that I walked right in and my number popped up at one of the counters, and from there the whole thing took about 15 minutes. They do also take walk-ins, and when I arrived at 8:45 a.m. the seats were filling up but not yet full with those folks; I did see that some of them were being called up to the counters too, so they clearly have some sort of system going. Right now wait times are often super long; also, if you look online you'll see that the next appointments for this branch aren't available until mid-August (this is because of the Real ID crunch; I've checked online before and it's not normally like this). So if you do still need your Real ID, I'd book an appointment for the next date as a fallback (you can always cancel it), and then try as a walk-in mid-week or so, arriving first thing in the morning. Either way, they're efficient and helpful, and everything is organized! I've lived in a lot of cities and usually BMVs are an utter nightmare, but this was super easy.

Hours later I discovered the sound was my wedding band. Checked around the wood stack as well as where I swept the waste out of the garage. Found nothing. A friend told me there were "some people" who searched for lost jewelry, primarily on the beach. Never thought of them but googled the topic and was very fortunate to find Dennis. Immediately reached out and set up a search time two days later. HE was early, I got tied up at work but texted him where to look. TEN minutes later I received a text "congratulations" and a picture of the ring.. I was so relieved. His fee is so ridiculously low, I'll let you google it. Dennis sensed my urgency and reacted. It's also said to be a good spot for stargazing and astronomy (vehicle headlights excepted), but I can't vouch for that personally because I was there before sunset. There's a granite tablet that says the overlook was donated by individuals in 2010. What a neat thing to do! This highway is way off the beaten path; my wife grew up in Maine and moved around quite a bit in early adulthood, and had never through this part of the state. There are not a lot of places to pull over and stretch one's legs along this highway, so it was a great find; I needed a few minutes of rest. A restroom would have been nice -- even a portable.
