I seem to be reviewing post offices today. I started with the ones I deal with in New York City, which are horrid, so I'm happy to review a post office that is pretty damn good.
All I can say is that I wish that they cloned this one. The postmistress is as nice as can be -- cheerful and helpful to the customer. That's true with other country post offices that I've dealt with, but I think that that the one in Callicoon Center is particularly noteworthy for the quality of service provided. There are plans afoot to shut rural post offices, and fortunately the Callicoon Center P.O. isn't on the hit list.
One merchant, who lives some distance away in a different zip code, told me that he keeps a p.o. box at this post office because of its reputation for great service. I kid you not. This is the Nirvana of post offices.
I buy all my stamps here, and I mail packages from here as much as possible because it's important to give business to rural post offices that are in danger of closing. read more
