Excellent experience. Very happy with two pairs of Orthodics - one for sport and one for dress. Worth the price. :)

Living in NYC, where walking is a way of life, I felt crushed, fearing my mobility would continue to decline. I desperately tried various over-the-counter shoe inserts from brands like Sof Sole, Orthofeet, and Birkenstock, but none offered any relief. I consulted a podiatrist, and X-rays revealed bone spurs on both my left and right heels (though only the left was symptomatic at the time). My podiatrist explained that there wasn't a definitive cure for bone spurs; instead, the focus was on pain reduction to enable a normal life. She strongly recommended I visit "the best Certified Pedorthist in NYC," Spencer Weisbond (her exact words), for custom-made orthotics. At that point, I was willing to try anything for even a slight reduction in pain, so I promptly scheduled an appointment. My experience at Orthotic Solutions was excellent from the start. Spencer made the molding process easy and comfortable while he explained everything thoroughly and efficiently. A few weeks later, I returned to pick up my custom orthotics. Spencer trimmed them to fit the shoes I brought and provided instructions on their care. My hope was that they would at least ease the pain enough for me to walk short distances around the city. What happened, however, was far more profound. In just a few weeks of always using my custom orthotics, the pain in my left heel had completely disappeared. That was two years ago, and I remain entirely pain-free when using my custom orthotics. Occasionally, if I walk for extended periods without them or go barefoot, I can feel a hint of pain starting to return, reminding me that the bone spurs are still present. But the custom orthotics properly distributes the pressure on my feet, allowing me to walk without pain. Frankly, if I hadn't experienced this myself, I wouldn't have believed that custom orthotics could make such a significant difference in my life. Thank you, Spencer, for giving me my mobility back!

However, the issue continued to grow and became more painful. A dermatologist later diagnosed it as a plantar wart and began treatment. When I attempted to follow up with the podiatrist, I was told by the office (on the day of my appointment) not to come in and to instead see my primary care doctor. My primary care doctor also examined it and agreed that it appeared to be a plantar wart and proceeded with treatment, and was confused why podiatry would not evaluate it. I was surprised by the lack of reassessment and the decision not to evaluate an ongoing and painful foot condition. I would have appreciated a more thorough follow-up or willingness to reconsider the diagnosis.

Unfortunately Two years after buying Orthotics from Dr. Thaker they started to fall apart. I went…read moreto his office and was told I can have them 'refurbished' meaning re-covered for $55. I gave them in and asked them to please be sure not to alter them in any way because they fit me perfectly. It was supposed to take a week to 10 days. 3 weeks later they were ready. I got them back with a strange bulge in the middle of the foot it was like having a fist pushing up in the middle of my foot. Dr. Thaker claimed that we had this discussion and I requested it. I insisted he was confusing me with another patient since I specifically requested many times, not to make any changes! Eventually he said he would send them back and have them redone. So this is what he did: he took a knife, cut a hole into the newly made orthotics, pulled out that thing they put in the middle and then covered it up with glue in a very sloppy way like a school child would do, leaving the hole there. I was astonished that this is what they are trying to give me! So politely I said I'm not accepting this. He was obviously angry and reluctantly agreed to send them back once again. Another 3 weeks go by and I get them back, this time they were completely changed and the hard plastic that is shaped to your foot is flat, there's nothing shaping anything just a flat hard piece of plastic covered up with material. I was so aggravated that I decided to pay and decide later what the best course of action will be. My decision was, that this will never get fixed properly, and I should make an appointment with the doctor, we'll get me fit for NEW orthotics, and I assumed (mistakenly so), that he would work something out with me on the cost of this pair that he ruined. So I come to the scheduled appointment, I wait for half hour (mind you, in the middle of a work day), in his waiting room while other people who came after me are being attended to, and then he sends out the nurse to tell me there is nothing he can do and he can give me back my $55, Whaaattt?!? I asked her to have him please come out to speak with me. Eventually he comes out, and I started by saying that this is not the way to treat a patient... and he actually turned around and walked away, In midsentence basically saying 'f***k you, I don't care, and I don't want to hear! Wow! I have NEVER met such behavior by anyone, let alone a doctor! I didn't buy a hotdog from a street stand and complain about it! What a disgrace to the doctor's community!!! What disrespect and ugly behavior. Mr. Mike Thaker you are an embarrassment to the respectful community of doctors. People, if you read more reviews on other sites, this is normal behavior for this man. If you have a problem: tough! He don't care. There are thousands of Orthopedic doctors in NY look elsewhere.

This review is for Dr. Evans and his staff -…read more I visited Dr. Evans because I was limping around with foot/ heel pain for the past 3 months. I couldn't take it anymore and realized it was getting worse so I said screw it - time to go to the doctor. First off, the ladies in the front office area are such sweethearts, very pleasant and are welcoming. Dr. Evans is pleasant himself and actually had a soft but witty personality. So I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis and a heel spur (greeaattt). He rendered his plan of action, told me to come back in 2 weeks and sent me home with "at-home" things to follow. 2 weeks later the pain was a little lessened and sporadic instead of everyday. I was honest that I didn't follow his at-home regimen the way I should have and he gave me the suggestion/ option to get a cortisone shot. I agreed to move forward if it was going to help me....3 minutes later he was back in the office prepping me for the shot in my heel. I took a deep breath, and although he was trying his best to be gentle - that thing HURT LIKE HELL!!! 2 days later - I was able to walk normally again, hop out of bed in the morning, run up and down the steps and dancing like Ginger Rogers :-) !!! So I returned 2 more weeks after that and still have not suffered the debilitating pain and really hope it doesn't return!! If it does - of course I will be more than happy to see Dr. Evans and his team again.

One might think that helping others is a precondition to working in the health field, but not these ladies. For example, I can forgive the office manager her perpetually sour expression and maybe even her harsh way of speaking to patients. Harder to swallow is that she doesn't know how to handle billing. She tells you your insurance doesn't cover something, then you call your company and find out it does in fact cover the treatment but that the office submitted the wrong diagnostic code. You call the office manager back to give her the correct code and she acts defensive. Ultimately you have to call the doctor in and he quickly sorts everything out. She has a talent for making everything unpleasant and take longer then it needs to. I won't be going back as long as she works there. Dr. Evans: An affable if somewhat distracted guy. He glides in and out of the exam room pretty quickly so have your questions ready. Four stars for him if not for the train wreck of an office manager.
