I learned to fly here and went through instrument. As per the last review, while it is true that the planes are constantly flying, so things tend to break occasionally, they are small things and are taken care of quickly. In my experience, every plane used to train students has some small glitches here and there, so it didn't bother me. I learned to fly as a student, which meant that I was able to devote my summer to training. I wanted to finish my certifications relatively quickly, so I flew almost every day of the week, with some weeks off for vacation. I finished my private certification in one summer, and then my instrument the next. I did my private certification Part 61 (the route most domestic students take) and was able to get flights done reasonably quickly - though I had a few delays due to difficulty booking a flight. That said, I think US Aviation was better than most flight academies because it has so many instructors and aircraft, meaning one aircraft going down for maintenance, or one sick instructor, is not going to keep you from training. If you are serious about training in a hurry, try doing your training Part 141, the route the international students take. The training is more intensive, but it forces you to fly every day and ensures that you will finish quickly. That's what I did for my instrument course, and it allowed me to finish a much more difficult certification in the same amount of time as my private. All in all, I think US Aviation is a great flight school. Admittedly I haven't had personal experience with many other schools, but they have a winning combination: they do fuel and maintenance in house. That means that day or night, they can get a fuel truck out to fill your plane, or send a mechanic out to fix it (and they do - last I checked the whole operation ran 18 hours a day.) If you are serious about finishing a certificate, US Aviation has the stuff to get you through on time. read more

The school on the A&p side is not great my class in 3 months have changed through 5 teachers because they start a new class knowing they don't have the teacher to teach that class and yank a teacher out of an already halfway through class. we got told today that our teacher was starting with a new class Monday and they didn't know what teacher we will have Monday and it's less than to weeks from our general test to move on to airframe. On top of Poor scheduling bc they want money the course blocks are scheduled horrible you finish everything for your general test in 102 but u have to wait another month till u can take ur general test which is after 103 but in 103 your learning airframe and power plant so it's a waste of time filling ur brain with stuff you don't need till after ur general which leads to some people failing. read more

Terrible business practices and only care about finding ways to drain students of money. I left after having 6 of 8 flights in a row cancelled due to maintenance or giving paying students planes away for a discovery ride. Yes that's right if you are a paying student giving thousands of dollars to train there they will give your plane away for a $199 discovery ride to someone who is interested in aviation. Screwing over paying students who put a uniform on and drive out there to fly so a teenager can get a ride in a plane for 45 minutes is a regular thing there. Don't worry though they will be happy to let you pay even more to fly a week later to polish up the skills you lost from not flying for an extended period. They do have some good instructors who like most CFI's are just trying to teach others and get their hours in to go to an airline. it's unfortunate for them as well with all the cancellations from lack of planes. Basically if you want to piss away money this is the place to do it. I moved to another local flight school and saved 6k on my next rating and will save 2-3 times that in commercial. read more

Please do NOT enroll yourself in this school you will be cooked!!!! First of all, instructors here are very very rushed to get as many students flying without the actual safety, for this just search up US Aviation Crashes, where multiple students and instructors have been injured and an instructor and student were killed due to the planes low maintenance as they neglect them. Second of all, the front office does not care if you have a "reservation" as you may call it, if you pay the most then you're on top of their list. Just today, another plane crash landed in Gainesville, probably due to low maintenance. I flew at this school for some time and I was always so afraid, everytime we would be airborne it would feel as though my plane would dismantle through the air. They don't care about students all they want is more and more money which is why I switched the first chance i got, please do not enroll yourself, there are plenty of more options at Alliance Airport, Meacham Airport, Spinks Airport, this school took a very heavy toll on me, and they are expensive!!!! Get ready to pay 500-600$ for a two hour flight. Real Review: CHOOSE A DIFFERENT SCHOOL! This school has zero business wits or smarts about them. The school is ALL about money, and how they can make more money from their students. But I can live with that. My husband is pursuing his second career as an airline pilot. We are a one income family, so he could attend US AVIATION Academy full time. We did our research. We took a tour of the school and were told "if dedicated" you could complete your private through commercial in less than 12 months. Is it feasible? Sure..., but only if the school does their part. Fast Forward to the current time- my husband has been enrolled since Feb of 2022. He is still working on his CFI- and has had OVER 67 flights cancelled due to lack of "aircraft availability". Somewhere along the way management decided to enroll as many people as possible, even knowing they didn't have the aircraft or staff to support this many students! In the past 2 weeks my husband has had SEVEN flights cancelled and it is only Wednesday of this week! ALL due to no aircraft availability. He has OPEN availability from 6a-6p (he does not need any more nighttime hours). and still is unable to get an aircraft for his flights. The past 2 months they have had more planes in operable than operable. Hundreds of students trying to fly a day and somedays only 6 aircraft for duals. THE WORST PART IS: they do not tell you when you enroll your prices ( rate lock) is only for a certain about of time. If you do not complete your training during that amount of time, they offer you this "deal" increase to the new prices (that your loan was not estimated for) or pay a SMALL fee of $300 a month to keep your old pricing. They suggest if you plan to finish your training in the next month or 2 that the $300 is the way to go. The minute you decide to take the $300 extra charge (I mean what choice do you have), they start cancelling all of your flights bc there is no plane available!! How is this even legal? Three months we have been charged this BS fee of $300! When he would have been completely finished if 23 flights weren't cancelled in 2 months. He cannot start working and therefor supporting his family of 4 until he completes this last little bit of training, which is all flight based. Heed my advice! Do your research! Go to the campus, talk to students and instructors- any one of them will tell you it's a complete sh*t show! Our loan will be several thousand short due to these erroneous charges, and their lack of properly estimating the cost for school. OH AND... if its cold and you wish to wear a jacket- well you will be required to purchase one from the school. When last year you could wear a plain black coat. Just another way to make money off the students. CHOOSE ANOTHER SCHOOL! The instructors are really great. They are just trying to survive like the students. My husband has kept in contact with many of his that have reached their ATP and moved on. They completed their training in 1/2 the amount of time he has, and HE IS THE FURTHEST ALONG- out of all the students he started his private license with. Meaning- there's a whole slew of students in the same boat- still making no money. Lastly- Prepare yourself to travel to school for every flight and be told when you arrive- your aircraft is grounded or needs maintenance for scheduled hours. Usa aviation academy review Only giving more than 1 star because the instructors and staff here are great and very helpful (A&P). Just giving a warning about the policymakers at this school. This school is VERY MUCH a profit first school, and students are in no way a priority here in the grand scheme. Any make up time they will charge you $80 per hour even though the only time they offer make up time is during hours that your tuition already covers, so you will be double charged on Fridays for make up time if you are absent past the 10% mark for ANY reason (including births, deaths, family emergencies) throughout the section you are in. The FAA has a 20% rule to dismiss students from the program, USAA removes you from the program at 10% makes you pay for re entry. It's a very shady policy, which is very unfortunate because the instructors and staff here are great. Additionally they are taking on more students than they have room for (VERY MUCH profit first) so good luck finding a parking spot that isn't in a field over by the school. read more

I started my flight training at US Aviation Academy in May, 2020. I transferred to the school based on the recommendation of a few people in the industry. I found them to be professional and very organized. Training was completed faster than expected, and under the budget allowed. Flight instructors are very knowledgeable, organized and friendly. They are professional as well. The school has many planes to choose from, so training can be completed in a short period of time. And did I mention, they are super friendly as well. Money and time well spent! I had the best time this week at US Aviation School. I took a discovery flight and go to know about flying. Before the flight we did a pre-flight inspection and learned about many of the parts of the plane. My instructor was Victoria and she was professional, patient, and insightful. I got more experience flying than expected and had a great time learning about aviation in general. Flying over Denton county was amazing and I'd like to do this more regularly! After the flight Robert spoke about the different options for going forward with a private or commercial pilot's license. They have programs to take and everyone in the office was really nice. Our son is thinking about becoming a pilot and/or joining the military (he's 14 years old). For a birthday present, we got him a flight lesson to see what he thought. Our instructor Brooke was Awesome!!! For a Momma who was a bit nervous - Brooke made the experience fun, educational and very thorough. She explained in detail and went over and had my son do some of the precheck list and the post after they landed with her. Hands down the best flight training you will receive in the area. The instructors are dedicated to make you a great pilot, not just get you your ratings quickly. There are a lot of aircraft and they are maintained very well so you will always be and feel safe. The price is very competitive and the instruction is high quality. The academy is a large building with plenty of space to study uninterrupted if thats what you want or if you like to study in groups there are always other students there willing to study with you. The school teaches the Chinese airline pilots, so there are a lot of Chinese students who are so nice and love interacting with you. If you just want to get your ratings quickly to become a commercial pilot their large fleet and large group of instructors can get you through quickly if you commit your time and energy into it. Weather is always a factor and for good reason, SAFETY! Overall, I love flying here and Ive made many friends and feel safe every time I fly. read more

*****Prospective Students Beware: This school is run by NO management at all. I did my Commercial Pilot training here, and tried to schedule myself for the next day and the coming Saturday and Sunday due to the difficulty of getting scheduled in a plane to go fly. When I called the front desk to cancel a reservation, I got disrespected by a man there named Richard who said I "didn't know procedure, and do not have any business messing around" in a bad attitude. I then talked to Timothy Hopkins, who is one of the Supervisors at this place. He told me that RESERVATIONS ARE NOT GUARRANTEED. In other words, you can be scheduled, and get bumped off at the last minute if a "higher priority" pilot wants to fly. Today, Hopkins (Supervisor) called me and ACCUSED me of trying to place myself on the schedule even though IT WAS DONE BEFORE THEY TOLD ME I COULD NOT SCHEDULE MYSELF. Oh, and there planes go down for WAY TOO OFTEN. Some good flight schools in the D/FW Area (They all do Intl students) Monarch Air US Sport Aircraft American Flyers All these schools are located at Addison Airport, just minutes from Dallas. Great place to learn to fly and work for. Very well maintained aircrafts. Great instructors. You might pay a little extra for a flight hour BUT its over all cheaper because they don't waste your time or drag your training. They have the largest fleet in the use many international companies use them to train there pilots lots of military training for US and international armed forces. Strongly recommend them. Over priced and administrative side of school seems very disorganized. Management is unapproachable because they can never be found. Equipment maintenance could be a lot better. Aircraft availability is constantly an issue. They do have a couple of awesome instructors though and quality of training is pretty good. Because of the contract US Aviation has with the Chinese Government domestic students are pushed to the side here unfortunately. :( read more

The instructors were consistently late to the ground lessons. We frequently started 30 minutes late. The simulator instructors would set me up to fly, give me instructions on what they wanted me to do, and then leave for 30 minutes at a time. I had no clue if I was doing things right. I won't name the specific instructors but it was ridiculous. It seemed like they had something better to be doing and I wasn't a priority. read more

Ever since US Aviation took over the fueling services from Business Air the customer service has gone through the floor. No one answer s the radio calls and it takes multiple calls to get someone on the phone. When you do get someone to answer it is obvious that they do not understand their job. I have no issue with new employees learning or the business working out the kinks of acquiring new services but we are not see any improvements at all. We are very disappointed. read more

I did my instrument and the part of my CPL training here. As good as it looks for the first time, later it turns into continuous frustration. They are changing rules every week without informing their students or consulting with them and even the leadership is not aware of it. They want to fine everyone due to alleged violations of their house rules and when they cannot find it in the currently distributed SOP they say it is a new rule and they have not got it yet! ? Their maintenance management is horrible...during my training there were multiple periods when they had only the 10% of their plane is available and the rest was sitting in the hangar for weeks...and of course the Chinese students come first in these situations. The planes are old and especially the 152 are unreliable...there were faults of smaller and bigger parts almost every day. They try to rip off the students wherever they can - the best example is the 2 hrs block rule; during time building you are not allowed to fly a longer block than 2 hours (that is actually not more than 1,5 due to the preflight check and the dispatch before and after the flights) so if you scheduled for 4 hrs from 10:00-14:00, you have to land 11:40, go back to to par the plane, tie it up, walk back to dispatch, then find an instructor who is gonna be that "kind" to sign your next 2 hrs plan, get your dispatch papers, walk back to the plane, walk around, start, taxi back and fly 1,7 hrs because you have to get back to the dispatch before 14:00. Yes, it means you can fly your 100 hrs CPL time building in a 50 minutes radius of the airport. There are extra checks established just to CHECK you during your time-building every 2 weeks, even if you fly every day with your current PPL/IR. ...and during these flights of course you charged for the instructor fee. They always set up your schedule so you have to do a few extra flight before your prog checks or check flight due to maintenance or simple availability issues. Even you are Instrument Rated you are not allowed to file IFR flight plan if you fly with the school's planes, does not matter that you have completed your IR training there too. AND beside all of these they treat all their CUSTOMERS (or at least try every day) as a stupid kid who's training is free of charge. There are full weeks when there is no one to deal with your problems, however most of the leadership is there just to play god or shrugging their shoulders and explain why you are wrong. Their motto: Complete your training on time and on budget is the biggest lie of all. I have seen more than hundred students in-processing and a few of them were able to complete their training in time but none of them on the promised budget. Denton is not the cheapest place around renting an apartment, but the school offer is the worth you can get with those stupid lease contract is impossible to end without loosing a bunch of money. I have seen many international student unaware of the tricks of the US contracts and suffered months in the "sh*t-holes" the school call accommodation, not talking about the weekly room-checks a and the continuously changing rule environment. I could not recommend this school at all! Fortunately there are many other better and good schools in Texas where they treat their students as a man and as a customer for a better price and "in time and on budget". read more
