It is a failing practice. I was diagnosed with kidney stones while fishing in Alaska and had one passing plus a Urinary Tract infection. They identified several in both kidneys and told me to contact a urologist as soon as I got home. I did. No doctor, they just assigned a Physicians Assistant. She was fine. Gave me options as a few stones were so large, they would not pass if they began to move. Option surgery or just monitor them with a scan every 3-6 months. A short time, maybe 2 months later, I was in significant pain and went in. Different Physician's Assistant this time. Told her I was worried that one of the stones was moving. She looked at my chart and said, sir, you don't have any kidney stones. I said yes I do and in both kidneys. She excused her self to review my chart again and returned. She again said there is no record of you having any stones. I said check my appointments for follow ups on the stones or ask the person who I had the first appt. with. She said this person only worked there part time and was not working that day. She said we have to settle this, I am scheduling you for a scan. I went, they saw all the stones, confirmed also the Alaska records and it was all total incompetence. I was very upset, called a Dr. there who I knew his wife a respected Plastic Surgeon here and asked to be called back. I was told point blank, they would give him the message but no guarantee he would call me back. He did and before I could tell what had happened, he was tripping over himself apologizing. He knew I was calling with a complaint but not specifically what so he looked at the chart and noted immediately what had happened. He saw me in his office, recommended surgery. I said ok, he went over post-surgery, and I should take it easy the day after but should be ok with nothing strenuous for a week or so. Following surgery, he said he had worked on one with the laser, the largest one in that kidney was out of position for the laser so he was only able to treat the one. And he said there is no immediate threat with passing another stone at that point. Three weeks later I was in the hospital passing a stone. The radiologist who reviewed the scan results found a new smaller one in the same kidney. Turns out it was a big chip from the very large one the doctor said he was unable to work on because of the place it was. So the doctor then admitted it. He had lied. I also was not able to even get out of bed the next day or pretty much for a week following the surgery as between the constant pain and blood in my urine it was nothing like what it would be like. Lab work at the place was performed as well. But after 4 days waiting for the results they called and said the technician did not properly package and preserve the first blood work and I had to come in again to get another blood sample. This place is a total clown show. They bought out every practice and are the only game in town. So, I made an appointment at Stanford and have ever since gone there. I myself have 23 years of experience in the medical field, owning a cosmetic practice. My son is a foot and ankle surgeon, my neighbor, now retired is one of the founding partners of Western Surgical and a general surgeon. I would not return to this place again ever. My wife needed a urine test today and of course 2 hours after leaving her sample for their lab, they called to ask her to come back and give another one. Someone threw hers away by mistake. The practice manager is for sure incompetent. Training and hiring can't be good and the Stanford graduate lied to me. When I told him after he had said no immediate danger and i'm in the hospital passing the stone, he had the guts to ask if they filtered in out or my urine which is not common to do and I said not that I knew. Then replied so you can't say for sure you passed a stone! Funny thing, when you pass a stone, it leaves a trail as it travels that any CT scan shows as it did me. 1.8 stars here for reviews. Tells it all. Go there at your own risk, My wife and I won't even get a test done there. Better to go to a lab! I THINK MOST PEOPLE WOULD AGREE, REVIEWS FOR MEDICAL PROVIDERS ARE VERY MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THAN LOOKING AT REVIEWS FOR A GOOD RESTURANT TO HAVE DINNER. DOES ANYONE THINK ANY OF THE DOCTORS, 11 I THINK WOULD GO TO A RESTUARANT THAT HAS 1.8 STARS! I DON'T THINK SO! read more
