I love the wine wall, and the gorgeouse fireplace - the decor in here really tries to mix modern with comfortable. Sharing a few plates with friends over a bottle of wine is the way to go, and its a great location for catching up or birthday dinners. The upstairs is called Veludo live, and hosts local and interstate music acts every night. Its intimate, but nice and airy too because of the small balcony that lets a little air inside. I cant remember what band I saw there last, but I remember I had a good time -and isnt that the most important thing?

The ambiance, interior fitout and service are excellent - we ordered a selection of dishes to share between us, and it was great to sample a wide variety of dishes. I would go back just to have that :P This is definitely on our list of places to come back to next time we're in Melbourne!!

There was no belly dancing during our meal as it is not done at lunch times. The music was very loud so trying to have a conversation was hard but they did turn it down a bit eventually. Note, dissapointed they didn't give us the 5% discount when I paid with cash as this was written in the menu

One thing I love about a place is big portions, it's great to order different dishes and share, it lets you try more. The entrees here are big enough to share, and to help yourself to seconds. On that note, the lamb shawarma. Ermagosh. There is flavor in every single bite, the lamb was the tastiest. It was evenly distributed with seasoned rice, salad with a lovely dressing, and lamb. I hate those places that skim you on meat, but here, they were so generous! And it was flame grilled, only adding to the taste. I am looking forward to my next trip already. Our appetizer was the haloumi, and wow! It's salty and crunchy and perfectly balanced with the salad and Lebanese bread. And yes, we had room for dessert! Turkish delight and baklava. I don't even need to describe how lovely and perfect this was to end our meal. They have a wine list, with lots of options, and even have banquet style set courses. It's like you came to a Lebonese house, large with pretty drapes, and a nice photo opt in the courtyard. They have large glass walls; so when you aren't taking in their theming, you can look out at the ongoing traffic. They should be green with envy of you; because you are having a deliciously created palate pleasing meal, and they aren't!

No bad dishes in there - some good, some very good. Reasonable prices make for a good price-quality ratio. Maroush has a deserved good reputation. My only minor gripe is that "fine dining", as the claim they are, they however are not. The service at least on my visit lacked the finesse one would expect from a true fine dining establishment.

The decor is a delightful brown (yeah you did read that right) with copper highlights that matches the wooden tables. Got the picture, good, summary over, just eat here. I've seen this place lots of time from the outside when inspecting (and eating in) the fish restaurant Sea Salt next door. Tonight I was interested to see if there was a Degraves St restaurant I haven't eaten in. I may have inadvertently saved the best for last. Reading the white writing on the floor to ceiling windows a tall elegant blonde waitress gracefully offered me a menu. I hate pushy staff who try and almost force you to eat in their restaurant, and so does she, as it later transpired in conversation. A quick look and I was sold on a couple of items. There were some vacant seats outside under the heaters, but it being winter I just wanted to dine inside. So, the duck or the interesting chicken. Neither, the specials sounded delightful. As did several of the cocktails and the winelist. I enjoyed speaking to the 2 staff that served me. The cauliflower soup was enjoyable. However, it was the Snapper with Brussel sprouts, bacon and peas that was a real dining treat. The best piece of Snapper I've had in a long time. Plus the glass of Chardonnay, of which I can be quite fussy, was also pretty good.

With the mains on the menu somewhat out my price range at the moment I settled on a burger from their tapas menu and a smoothie. The glass the smoothie came in had to be bigger than the burger! Despite this it was good, for all of the two and a half bites I got, and the Banana-Honey-Cinnamon-Yogurt smoothie was very interesting. The staff were also very friendly and helpful first replacing the smoothie after a friend knocked it over trying to snatch it before I had even had a sip and then replacing the mini-burger after a giant hair was plainly on display wedged into it! So I effectively got both items I ordered twice at no extra charge. I will want to be back when I've got some decent funds.

We opted for the 6 course meal which was $115 pp and since I don't eat lamb, they were kind enough to switch it out and gave us a delicious fish option instead. We also upgraded to the wagyu rump 8+ and it was the highlight of the meal (we also tried the manti and I personally was not a fan). They also gave us two bags of their bread mix on our way out which was definitely interesting - we had to give these away since we were here visiting. Items I really enjoyed: Wagyu rump 8+ Hummus Dessert (beautiful presentation) Items I'd probably pass on if I had a choice: Wagyu beef manti (trust me, I recommend you supplement to the wagyu rump!) Smoke ocean trout - I don't know if it was just me but it kind of smelled like ammonia and I was not a fan.
