I mistakenly scheduled a pickup with Bulldog Limousine at the Atlanta airport a day too early…read more When I discovered my mistake, it was 6pm the evening before the mistaken pickup day and I was still in Hawai'i on a cruise ship with spotty WiFi. It was midnight in Bogart, GA. I had to let Bulldog Limousine know my error, but with only 6 hours lead time, and it being the middle of the night in GA, there wasn't much hope of Bulldog reading my message. I sent an email anyway with fingers crossed, letting them know of my mistake and requesting they change my pickup day to the following day. Within 10 minutes of sending the email, I received a text from Bulldog Limousine's manager, letting me know he had received my email and had made the change, assuring me I would be picked up the following day. I recommend Bulldog Limousine Service to everyone I know. Their vehicles are clean and well maintained, AND their service cannot be underestimated. Thank you Pat Dickens for being the ultimate professional.

Last year, I made the mistake of renting a car. What a mistake that was. I learned you don't need a rental car if you're staying in downtown Athens, and finding my way to the rental car return at the Atlanta airport was a nightmare. This year, I went with Bulldog Limousine. The drivers, both nice guys, were great, and both trips were effortless. For instance, on my return from Athens to the Atlanta airport, the driver knew just where to go and dropped me off right in front of the Delta check in area for my flight home. Every once in a while, one finds a company that does things right. Bulldog Limousine is one of them.

Now, let me talk about the food--if you love home-cooked meals that taste like they were made with love and passed down through generations, then you're in for an absolute treat. The breakfast at The Chicken Coop Bed 'n Breakfast was nothing short of spectacular. Every morning, we were greeted with a delicious spread that transported me straight back to my grandmother's kitchen. Freshly baked biscuits, eggs made to order, sausage gravy, homemade jam, and perfectly brewed coffee--each bite was a nostalgic experience, reminding me of all the best parts of family gatherings around the table. It's the kind of food that fills you up not only physically but emotionally, too--comforting and full of soul. The rooms are just as charming as the innkeeper herself, tastefully decorated with a cozy, rustic feel that makes you feel like you've stepped into a warm, peaceful retreat. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep after a day of exploring Crawford and its scenic surroundings. The Chicken Coop Bed 'n Breakfast is a hidden gem that you won't want to miss. Whether you're in the area for a weekend getaway or looking for a peaceful place to recharge, this is the place to stay. We caught it right as Hurricane Isaias was rolling in, which gave the lake a beautiful, moody ambiance. Our first stop was Gaby's by the Lake, where we devoured a Caesar salad with fried anchovies. But we need to talk about the Braised Collard Greens Dip... It's warm, rich with gouda cheese , packed with smoked turkey, and I could seriously eat it every single day. For the main event, I gobbled up the Bolognese from Amore del Lago--rigatoni with heavy Mariana. (I hope you get the joke! )

This year the few standouts were Marc at Amore Del Lago for the after-hours s'mores hook-up and Euvon (Amore Del Lago and the Speakeasy, she had a long shift! ) for walking me ALL over the hotel when I was lost. The view is stunning and the food is high quality. The rooms are nice, but could use a few more elegant touches, though that may seem out of all place with the camp-like atmosphere. I didn't take many pictures, but will repurpose the few I took for other reasons.
