There is the social aspect of fun people who contribute to the vibrant energy a group exercise class has. If you have tried to work out alone you know how hard it is. The other very important aspect is that before I joined Sully I was working out with "30 somethings" and unable to keep up. Yet I would try, get exhausted and even injure myself. The exercise program at Sully gives back what you put into it, but it won't injure you because you're not in a class with much younger people. I love this senior center, it's members and especially its staff.

Now that's out the way, wow, I can't believe that I have lived in gorgeous PG my entire life and never knew about this area, let alone the community center. It is off of Pennsylvania Ave., and if you go over the bridge toward the courthouse you have gone too far! There is a small windy road that leads to the center. There are tennis courts a large field, and of course the community center. It is a nice size, with a small gym pool table, etc.. The staff were friendly and helpful. If your street sign has the Gaithersburg tree on it, you are likely within the official city limits. This makes a big difference in the annual fee you pay to be a member. Once you are a member, there are a number of very attractive benefits. Over 60? Enjoy a free lunch! Or pay what you can. Having difficulty getting to the center? Ask about transportation options -- some are free. There's frequent day trips to theatre, museums, restaurants etc that fill up quickly. There are classes for members such as fitness, watercolour painting, etc at the center. A local AARP chapter holds meetings at the center. The common rooms are used for showing movies, regular free activities such as bridge, poker, an art salon, or crocheting baby blankets for the local hospitals. There are a couple of pool tables for member and guests. It's a good place with a caring staff.

For the Voting portion, the Voting Team did a good job managing Social Distancing requirements in addition to the Voting guidelines. After I voted I took a small tour (as far as I was allowed) & saw how big the venue is. As with most Community Centers, theres a fitness component for cardio/weight lifting & a small scale basketball court. The Rec Center has plenty of space for special events & two sets of restrooms. Part of MoCo Department of Recreation & renamed in Jane's honor, a former Maryland Democratic Politician.

There are so many activities for seniors especially from foreign language classes, dancing, and even games. On the 2nd floor is a small gym, which I've never used myself, but it looks very complete. Lots of different kinds of equipment with different types of people using the gym. It never seems to be full, but there are always a handful of people in there in the afternoon on weekdays. There are also always people playing basketball in the indoor court on the 2nd floor with plenty of pool tables available as well. I personally take the aerobic barre class here on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the dance room, and I think there is pilates available here, too. The place overall is always clean, lively, and well maintained.
