Better service would have easily given this place 5 stars! It's always a little off-putting (for…read moreme) when the person who is supposed to take your order is visibly annoyed by general questions about the menu - especially, if it's your first time at the establishment (whether it's to dine-in or for takeout). That was my experience upon entering Winston's and browsing the menu. Which, might I add, did not display all available options or reflect current prices. How can you NOT ask questions?! Anyway, when we arrived Winston's looks like a brownstone type of home that has a restaurant occupying the first floor. We happened to find a parking space right in front - go us! Street parking seemed to be scarce. The food is excellent. The most authentic tasting Jamaican cuisine I have had in a long time. It's evident they know what they're doing in the kitchen! I ordered the curry chicken with rice/peas and cabbage. Also, a side of macaroni and cheese, which was freshly bubbling out of the oven. We eat with our eyes first, right? I could not resist! And it did not disappoint, at all. Plenty cheesy and gooey while flavorful, too. The curry chicken packed a delicious punch of flavor with each bite as it fell off of the bone. The cabbage, my favorite, shredded into perfect slices and a little spicy kick, perfectly combined with the few potatoes and carrots included with it. The rice/peas was delightful as well. A great meal! By the time we were ready to exit, the service had become much 'friendlier'. However, it is not lost on me that it's only because the owner, Mr. Winston himself, came in and greeted us. He was so jovial and inviting. Prior to that moment, the gentleman behind the counter had MUCH attitude. Overall, the food is what will bring me back here. And I WILL be back!

The full menu can be seen on the wall behind the counter. You have the option to order a Smoker's Sampler or one of Q's Gourmaq & Cheese. They also have sandwiches and dinner platters available. This time around I ordered the Smoker's Sampler. You have the option to get two, three, or four meats. I decided on jerk chicken, beef brisket, ribs, and salmon. The four meat sampler comes with two sides. I chose Mac & Cheese and Elote. Everything was fantastic! The meats are tender and the sides are flavorful. The jerk chicken and ribs are top tier. The sides were Mac n cheese, Pineapple mango slaw, and etole. All great matches with our protein. The owner was very accommodating. He answered all of our questions and made our experience as good as it possibly could be. The decor was outstanding with incredible artwork everywhere. Here's the catch! You just don't know when they are available for sit down service. They are small to large group oriented. Meaning catering is the priority. If they are contracted for an event, they may not be open for sit down service or take-out. So, Ownership recommends calling ahead to see what services are available. If you are able to stop in, You will be very happy you did. We will be back!!

My sister & I were delighted to stumble across this gem! We stopped in for lunch after realizing…read morethat the restaurant supports a local non-profit. (It's also super-affordable -- less than $15 for both of our meals, including drinks.) The atmosphere is casual, comfortable, & a little jazzy; a piano (complete with tip jar), cozy couches, & a shelf of books say "Come hang out here." About 10 minutes after placing our order, the waitress came back & apologized for the "long wait." Within a few minutes, the chef (a wizened old Black man who lends credibility to the authenticity of the Soul Food) came out & apologized himself. A few minutes later, the waitress reappeared & offered us free chocolate cake "for the wait." Bewildered but delighted, my sister & I accepted. Arriving shortly afterward, the food would have been worth a longer "wait." I got the fish po' boy: fresh swai fish, breaded in-house with something delightfully spicy with fresh lettuce & a flavorful House Po' Boy sauce. The chips, also made in-house, are positively light (sliced quite thin) but also seasoned with spice. My sister said the fried chicken was "standard," but was impressed with the candied yams. Overall, it seems like a go-to place to hang out over coffee, chai, sandwiches, or soul food.

I've been on a quest for Prime Rib! So, I decided to try Grumpy's. Always ordered rare, which means…read moreyou get medium rare at all the places I've tried. I've had tender, cut with a fork prime rib years ago, but I cannot this elusive cut anywhere in the Lehigh Valley. The places I've tried were all good, but none were great! I've tried prime rib at Millers Ale House, Prime Steakho.use, Texas Roadhouse, Outback, Longhorn. While the seasoning and taste varies from place to place; the one common element is having to saw the steak with a knife to cut it. This results in excessive chewing of the meat. This really reduces overall enjoyment of the prime rib experience. To get what I want from a prime rib experience will probably require paying $60 plus dollars and a long drive from the Lehigh Valley. Grumpy's of course serves smoked prime rib. I love smoked meats but not when it comes to prime rib I discovered. So, I won't be getting the $32 dollar, 16oz prime rib there again. I will be ordering the blackened bleu cheese burger with bacon and the ribs again! Onion rings a must for me. The side salad (adds $2) is excellent! Not just iceburg lattuce. I chose cole slaw as a side' it's good but their style of pink cole slaw is not for me. You get a piece of corn bread, but it's tiny and totaly underwhelming compared to cornbread elsewhere. The staff is courteous, attentive, and friendly. The ambience leaves much to be desired. To me feels like a bikers bar, which it is not. At the end of the day Grumpy's gets a B+ in my book and I will occasionally visit for lunch or dinner. Note: Their Au Jus is highly recommended and is not served with the meal. Must be asked for and you'll be glad you did!

It's packed with Americana and has a really homey, laid-back feel. I wish it were closer to where I live because there were a lot of things on the menu I'd love to come back and try--especially the Creole/Cajun options. This visit I went with the wings and the gumbo. The wings were smoked and really good, and the gumbo was just as tasty. It also looks like they can pack a crowd in here--they've got a bunch of live music acts scheduled through January. If this place were closer, I'd be here a lot more often. That said, anytime I'm heading back to Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays, this will definitely be part of the same-day plan.

FYI - I am from NYC. I've been to Jamaica, all over.. from home-cooked meals to resort/restaurant…read morefood... I love Jamaican cuisine. I came to Bethlehem PA to visit a few brothers. I wanted them to get out the box and find me some good food that is not from a pizzeria, WaWa's, GIANT Supermarket, etc. We settled on....... JAMAICAN! "Yes!", I thought. But, tbh, I wasn't expecting much out here. But boy, I was proven wrong with Cherry's Caribbean Palace: - Curry Goat: Soft, tender, hearty, healthy meat. It was cooked perfect. Not gamy or chewy, but exactly what you'd expect when you think curry goat. Perfect, mild, yellow, Jamaican curry style flavor. - Curry Chicken: You know Cherry's is authentic by how to they chop up the chicken. Bones and meat - it's not a thoughtless dish. You have to work at it, but so worth it. Doesn't seem like it's those hormone-pumped, farm raised chicken. Again with perfect, mild, Jamaican curry flavor. Not too spicy at all. - Jerk Chicken: Fire, in the traditional island jerk sense. Made a few of us sweat. Healthy, meaty portions. Skin was perfectly cooked with the jerk. It wasn't falling apart, like other places. - Jerk Pork: It's jerk, but you can taste the Jamaican pork, 'bbq' aspect, if you know what I mean. It has a, imo, a bit of tangy hint. Which is why I rate it Delicious. - The beef patties: oh man, the beef patties. The ground meat inside was not liquified (think pizzeria beef patties), and it wasn't dry crumbs (think supermarket fast food beef patties). It was top notch. You can tell because Cherry's cook their beef patties with a little slit/hole on the top of the patty (I assume they do this because they know how they want to cook the meat inside). Frickin' loved the beef patties. - Oxtail: the meat itself was quality; not full of ligaments or fatty parts. It wasn't dry and overcooked. It was perfectly made. And the sauce, ooh, the sauce. It's not like how other restaurants would use the same kind of base & spices, but at Cherry's, they have a specific oxtail sauce that is distinct, and quite lovely. - Everything came with rice and peas (great consistency, soft, but not watery or clumpy), perfect balance for all the spicy entrees above. - Everything came with cooked cabbage (fresh, crunchy, and not slimy) - Everything came with sweet plantains (ripe & sweet with a little tinge) Call ahead to order! Much better to work with them direct - not Uber eats! They are good people. When picking up. The gentlemen let us know that they'd bring the food out to our car. It might look like a 'hole in the wall' (no offense), BUT IT'S THE REALEST FOOD. It made me and my boys' stomachs very happy. Thank you Cherry's.. we're definitely going to be a good, repeat customer.

I'm from New York, and my sister moved to Pennsylvania, so she introduced me to this spot. Now every single time I visit her, I somehow end up right back here because the food is just that good. They used to have a second location that closed, but honestly, it doesn't even matter because this one was always my favorite, the food here is on another level. We always start with the Brussels sprouts, the fried green tomatoes, or the hush puppies. You simply cannot go wrong with any of them. The appetizers are always hot, fresh, and packed with flavor. And then there's the mac and cheese... absolutely to die for. Even the children's mac and cheese is ridiculously good. Creamy, cheesy, comforting, exactly how mac and cheese should be. Their salads deserve their own shoutout too. The goat cheese salad with pickled eggs is perfection, and the Caesar with cornbread croutons? Genius. It's the kind of detail you don't expect but end up craving every time you think about it. But of course, the real star of the entire place is the cornbread. Truly heavenly. They serve it warm, and the whipped butter melts right into it, it's honestly dangerous how good it is. I could eat the entire dish by myself without hesitation. The service is always great, quick, friendly, and welcoming. It's one of those places where the vibes feel just as good as the food tastes. On weekends, it does get packed, so making a reservation is probably a smart idea. All in all, I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant. The food, the atmosphere, the consistency, everything hits. I will always come back whenever I'm in the area, and yes... mostly because the cornbread is truly that good.
