Did some Small Biz Saturday shopping at this adorable shop- great gift ideas from candles to bath bombs to Brew Your Own Beer Kits! They've also got an array of plants and unique pots for the plant lover on your list. I see that they do floral arrangements and orders, as well. The owners were welcoming, and it seems like West Vliet is turning into home decor central, with unique small businesses like Urban Sense. Shop Small is Everyday! read more

I just have to commend urban sense and Dan, who helped me when my nephew was transferred to a different different hospital. The day of the surgery not only did they reach out to me, but he also went ahead and helped me to find a solution. I appreciate everything and will use urban sense again in the future, very compassionate and again a great foundation for caring for their customers. read more

I had the fortunate experience to find this floral shop and order flowers for my friend today. Deano was so patient and helpful when assisting me with my phone order. He even was so kind to send me a photo of his finished work. The piece was exactly what I had envisioned! Sometimes your vision gets "lost in translation" and you end up not being happy with the finished piece! Not the case here! I'd highly recommend this florist and look forward to doing business here in the future! read more

Dan is actual lifesaver and a delightful person! I messaged him for my best friends wedding because her previous florist fell through and we were desperate! Thankfully Dan came to the rescue and was super easy to work with and was able to give her her dream wish list within her budget! read more

I live in the area and have always loved Urban Sense, the store is beautiful and they have a great selection of gifts. I was trying to help my sister-in-law with a last minute flower emergency for her wedding and I went to Urban Sense to see what could be done because I've always had a high opinion of them. I wasn't asking for miracles. I was asking for 2 bouquets, three corsages and three boutonnières in something resembling my sister-in-law's color scheme and was NOT at all specific about flower type. I understand it's COVID and small businesses may be struggling and it's also summer (peak wedding season) so options may be limited. It didn't bother me that they couldn't accommodate my request. It bothered me that I was being berated for even asking the question. He said he was not trying to be rude, but his tone was very condescending. I was essentially told that any florist would run into the same problems because the request was so last minute, so it would be silly to keep looking and that 1 bouquet would be $240. I can say I have since talked to two different florists who have been much more polite in trying to accommodate the request. I understand things can be difficult to accomplish last minute, but you don't need to be rude about it! I will not be going back to Urban Sense even to shop in the store, which sucks because it's an adorable small, local business. read more

Found these folks on Yelp when I needed an "emergency-feel-better/happier" bouquet sent to a Wauwatosa friend. Within 24 hours the loveliest, sunniest arrangement arrived on her doorstep and she'd texted me "is there any happier flower than the sunflower. It just glows. The flowers make me feel so loved..." Thanks Urban Sense for a professional, simple transaction and super outcome. read more

We used Urban Sense for our October 9th 2021 wedding and could not have been any happier with the flowers and the service Urban Sense gave us. The flowers were absolutely gorgeous and made our wedding day even more beautiful!!! We got the usual bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages for all of our wedding party. We also had two tall orchid trees that were used in our ceremony and then behind the head table, they were the perfect focal point and were just stunning. Lastly, we had two different centerpieces for our guest tables, they added the perfect touch of elegance and beauty to the tables. The donut vases being our favorite with the orchids and other flowers being woven through it-just breathtaking. All the pieces were different yet cohesive and pulled all our design elemts together. The flower choices were the perfect color combinations for the theme and design of our wedding with some unique touches thrown in too. Full credit for this goes to Dan at Urban Sense. He had invaluable advice, amazing vision, and was very patient with my many questions and requested changes. There were a few times he stepped in and made a suggestion to not make changes and I appreciated the honesty. The credit for how gorgeous the designs turned out that day goes to Chris who put the flowers together, he is a definite artist. As stunning as it all was, we felt the price for what we got was very reasonable as well. Urban sense by far was the one of our favorite vendors and went above and beyond in so many ways to make our day special. Would highly recommend them!!! And by the way they have a really cute little store on Vilet that has great little gifts too. read more

As I pull out my Christmas decorations this year, I am taken back to a memory about a Christmas elf I purchased from them last year. Within an hour, i decided I didn't really have a spot for the elf, so I went back to return it. I was told that there were no returns for Christmas items and it was said to me like I was disgusting for even considering such a thing. Keep in mind, not only was this way before Christmas, it was not stated that I couldn't return the item when I purchased it, and it wasn't anywhere on the receipt either. After stating that I had just purchased this item about an hour ago and that nowhere did it say it was a final purchase, I was rudely told I could exchange it for something else and "don't expect the sale price" that I had gotten for the initial item, which made no sense. I was expecting to get the same amount I had paid towards another item. All Christmas items were on sale, so why wouldn't receive a the sale price on whatever I decided to exchange the item for? The vibe was really rude and It was so uncomfortable after this that I ended up just leaving with the elf that I didn't want and haven't been back since. I was a repeat customer before this encounter. Will never be back now and neither will a couple of other people that I told about my experience. read more

I am an event florist in Southern California but have friends temporarily living in the Milwaukee area for work. The couple has just had a baby and wanted to send them some flower love while away from home. Dan was so helpful in taking my order and helping with availability (since its winter and SoCal doesn't know weather problems like that haha). The flowers were delivered, my friend was surprised and felt loved! They took care of my friend as I would have taken care of her had she been here. Thank you Urban Sense! read more

Exec Summary: Flowers aren't my thing...but they are for the love of my life. Thus a good florist is a must. I don't find myself "needing" to send flowers (which is a good thing) but I do find myself wanting to make a day brighter for Lori every once in a while. When I do, I turn to Urban Sense. Assets: Urban Sense has a good sense (hence the name) of creative flower arrangement. They are always very helpful when I call and have delivered my bouquet of love same day even when I call after 11am. Liabilities: They aren't going to be your $20-40 bouquet place. A small, but beautiful, arrangement will run you $50 for the flowers and an all in delivered price of over $60. Thus as the ole saying goes "you get what you pay for." Property Plant & Equipment: Urban Sense looks a lot like my iPhone...that may be because I have never been to the store itself. They are always helpful on the phone and I have never been disappointed in the product they deliver. read more

I received the most beautiful arrangement from Urban Sense and was amazed. They are now the only company I go to for flower arrangements delivered locally. I heard about Urban Sense from The Knot, and the rating on Yelp convinced me to set up a wedding consultation. My fiance and I had been meeting with tons of vendors, amongst them a plethora of florists. Unlike many brides, I don't have a set "vision" for my wedding. A big part of the reason why we talked to so many different florists was to listen to their ideas and feel out their styles. I'll start with the positives from our experiences meeting with Dan at Urban Sense. The store is very pretty. The flowers that we saw looked fresh, and there wasn't that overwhelming artificial fragrance that'd assault you in some floral places. The presentation area was cozy. The floral arrangements we saw in the slideshow looked pretty enough. I'm afraid those were the only things keeping me from giving this place a 1-star rating. Dan, while superficially nice, was fundamentally more than a little condescending towards me. Furthermore, while initially subtle, as time went on it became more and more apparent that rather than using our flexibility of design constructively, Dan was suggesting increasingly expensive options in response to each of our general guidelines. One of the things we ask different vendors is each of their prices for similar set-ups. Our favorite florist prior to meeting with Urban Sense was Jamie of Jaimer's Florals. Jamie designed for us a gorgeous three cylinder rose suspension centerpiece set-up in addition to elaborate bouquets and other floral necessities. Our quote with Jamie was ~$800. Even without the cylindrical centerpieces, Dan's quote for us for less elaborate bouquets & etc was ~$1200. When we asked Dan about centerpieces with ONE cylinder of suspended roses, he said that the price would be "significantly higher". Does that make sense to anyone else?? I'm sorry, because if it does, you'll have to map it out for me in detail. We left our contact info with Dan, who promised to e-mail me a quote within a week, but I never received an e-mail from him. I was actually genuinely interested in hearing from him, but now I'm thoroughly disgusted and wonder if he was only pretending to write my e-mail down. After our experience I almost wonder if my fiance and I wandered into an alternate reality version of Urban Sense given the other high reviews here. At least one good thing came out of this for me: we signed a contract with Jamie. My advice? You should do the same. Plus Jamie has an awesome cute dog that loves pettings. P.S. For the love of god and all that is holy (or whatever deity/explicitive you prefer), if you're going to be condescending to me, please make sure that your website is better quality than some piece of shit I could cobble together when I was 14. :\ read more

Urban Sense did my wedding flowers and I could not be more happy with the quality of their work. I didn't hear an end to compliments on the various floral arrangements and bouquets. These guys are absolute artists and they know their flowers. I want to throw another wedding just so I can work with them again! I worked with them about my tastes and preferences. Our wedding was at the Milwaukee Public Museum on the first exhibit floor (Old Streets of Milwaukee, etc.,) so I wanted flowers that were unique and stunning enough to still catch your eye considering all the things that would be competing for attention. Great flowers were an enormous priority for me, right behind great food and great booze. My hopes were high for awesome flowers, and they exceeded my expectations. The flowers were incredibly fresh and lasted for weeks. The only problem I had was so many of my guests walked off with the arrangements, but who could blame them. I don't know if they are more pricey than other places, because I really don't know why you'd look anyplace else. read more

LOVE. LOVE Urban Sense. I worked with Dan for my wedding this year, and let me tell you - my flowers were flawless. I am NOT an easy bride - I was quite picky, but also wanted quite different things (things that were in my head, but difficult to articulate), and Dan knew just what to do! My bouquet ended up becoming a masterpiece of white hydrangeas, yellow mini-calla lilies, white tulips, stephanotis orchids, and succulents. It was seriously perfect. The bridesmaids were similar, with just a few changes, and fit perfectly with mine. My hubs and the groomsmen wore boutonniere-type things that slipped into the jacket pockets - Dan suggested them as they were cheaper, and MUCH easier to put on (rather than the awkward pinning and poking of the skins and such). Perfect. OH, and he also helped me last minute to order some potted orchids to mimic our centerpieces to act as our gifts for our parents for the wedding. Please, please seriously consider Urban Sense for your wedding, or other flowery needs (? :P) You won't regret it. (I should also say, the shop is a-dorable :) ). read more

I am long overdue writing a review for Urban Sense for the amazing job they did with our wedding flowers at the end of 2007 -- and for every floral arrangement my husband and I have ordered from them in the years since! Dan and Chris were so much fun to work with for our wedding. They asked a lot of questions to get a sense of our style and flower preferences, and they offered excellent ideas on how to maximize the "wow" factor while being respectful of our budget. Speaking of budget...My out-of-town mom used to work for a high-end florist and when she visited Urban Sense with me to sit down and hear about our plans, which involved some pretty exotic choices, she later told me she was expecting to hear prices around twice as much as our bill turned out to be. What we appreciated most was they way they took the jumble of preferences we expressed, and came up with a stunning, cohesive vision that translated perfectly into reality on our big day. Delivery and setup went smoothly, down to the last detail, and so many of our guests commented on how unique and beautiful the flowers were. We were 100% delighted! read more

Urban Sense created the most beautiful flowers for our wedding! All I can say is WOW WOW WOW! They knew exactly what I wanted and created the most beautiful bouquets. I was looking for something a little out of the regular bridal bouquet - I wanted texture but I still wanted the flowers to be feminine. The flowers were absolutely amazing and the quality was great! Their prices are reasonable and they were willing to go out of their way to help us out. I truly recommend this vendor! read more

I literally had 2 hours to order an arrangement and get it delivered to a funeral home on time. I live out of state but knew I wanted to deal with a local florist directly. I loved the unique arrangements I saw on the website so this is the place I definitely wanted to use. I was greeted on the phone by Dan who assured me that my request would be no problem to accommodate. Dan made a wonderful suggestion and came through with a timely delivery. What a wonderful experience! We met with Dan for initial consultation, and he was fantastic. Urban Sense captured exactly what we were looking for, even though our floral choices weren't as traditional. Our arrangements were heavily based on the use of succulents, and Urban Sense designed beautiful centerpieces, bouquets and boutonnieres. We received so many compliments on how the arrangements looked and personally, we couldn't be happier with how it all turned out. Dan walked us through everything, answered all of our questions and even accommodated for changes along the way. We can't say enough about how great Urban Sense is. We HIGHLY recommend them! read more

Flowers are, without doubt, one of my favorite things. So I knew when I was planning my wedding, that they would be a top priority. For months, Urban Sense lied and manipulated the truth about their prices, their flowers, and their design. While months have past since the best day of my life, I *still* get upset about this over-priced disappointment. I had so many amazing vendors on my wedding day and want to promote them to every single bride in the region. Urban Sense was the one and only negative aspect of my wedding weekend. If you are even possibly considering this vendor, please feel free to contact me. I would be more than happy to explain the details of this very upsetting experience. read more

I could not be more grateful to have found Urban Sense for my wedding day. Upon first phone call with Dan, I knew I had found the right place! My bridal bouquet, my bridesmaids bouquets, the centerpieces for all the tables, and all the miscellaneous floral decorations at the reception were gorgeous and beyond anything I could have dreamt of. Dan took the time with me over the months leading up to the wedding to understand what I was looking for and created arrangements that far exceeded my expectations. I could not be happier with how everything turned out. On top of their work being exceptional, Dan was so easy to work with. His calm nature and how he listened to what I wanted was such a breath of fresh air. As a bride, so many people tell you what you "need" to do but Dan was the opposite. He listened, then gave his expert advice and suggestions to ensure the end product was perfection. Surrounding a day of chaos for the bride, I didn't worry at all about the floral delivery or how they were going to turn out. I completely trusted Urban Sense and they did not let me down! I highly, highly recommend Urban Sense for all your floral needs. Their shop is adorable too! They are expert professionals that keep the chain Ted at the forefront of every piece they create. As a floral studio with a flawless reputation, the creativity runneth over into the gift shop where you can find something for that someone who WANTS everything. From a well curated selection of scents, soaps, and candles to ingenious up-cycled jewelry, accessories, and handbags, these guys know their stuff. My wife and I did some major research and we came to Urban Sense and our experience was great! Dan was straightforward, honest and knowing we were on a tight budget, helped us cut costs wherever needed (PS, groomsmen don't NEED flowers). One of the things I really appreciated was when he said "if this isn't a good fit, I'm going to tell you right away", instead of playing fake nice and taking our money, which we came across a few times. He was very accessible and came up with ideas we never thought about, which is great, because he is the expert, not us. We had a "sparse" theme and he nailed it, as well as repurposing everything, once again cutting on cost. What Dan and Chris designed made our wedding gorgeous and made an impression on others. It was classy and simple. I could not recommend them more and have since used them for other occasions. Their prices are reasonable and very competitive, plus you have the added bonus of knowing the person you are speaking with will not take you for a ride. Flowers for a wedding are expensive, but they don't have to bust you. read more

Urban Sense did the flowers for my wedding this past weekend and I wanted to write a review for them right away because: 1.The flowers were absolutely AMAZING. They were more beautiful than I had ever expected. I did not know what I wanted and Dan went through a ton of pictures with me to show me the flowers and I told him what I liked. Urban Sense transformed my likes into beautiful bouquet sthat added the POP that I was looking for. I was simply speechless. 2.The service I received from them throughout the whole process was OUTSTANDING! Dan really kept me updated with everything and even made appointments that fit in with my busy schedule. I will recommend Urban Sense to anyone that I know is getting married, engaged, having a party or is just looking to get some beautiful flowers. Thank you so much Dan and Chris! read more

I stopped into the shop on a whim as I was canvassing Vliet street with posters for a special event I was involved in. Chris, the owner greeted me warmly and immediately agreed to help me out and display my poster. Then I asked if there was any possibility of a) creating an arrangement that very day, and b) delivering it same day. I was flabbergasted when he said, "of course!" And asked what my budget was. I was in the shop around 10:30 am and a gorgeous, classy, high quality arrangement was delivered to my friends office by 3:00. I am a person who loves to support local, independent businesses, and I'm not sure I'll go anywhere else when it comes to my plant and floral needs in the future. The store was beautiful and unique, and I was treated kindly, prices were fair, and where else will you find that kind of customer service!? I am admittedly no expert on flowers, but for a special occasion I knew the 10 dollar bundle from TJ's wouldn't suffice for my special lady.
