Mumin and his team are great! We had them refinish our original 50+ year old hardware floors with Weathered Oak stain. The floors came out amazing and they were even able to replace a few broken boards and you can't even tell the difference! Our house is about 1000 sqft and it took them about a week. They even worked through the weekend to get our floors done so we could get the walls painted afterward. Would definitely use them again. read more

We hired Mumko's Hardwood Floors / Mosaica Flooring / Urban Flooring (lot's of name-changes) to install engineered hard wood floor several years ago. From day one the floors were wobbly and creaking and there were large gaps between many of the slats. When I mentioned this they said they'd work on it but they never did. As both of us were in grad school at the time we didn't have the time to pursue the matter further. I've since had two other flooring specialists evaluate the floors and they've confirmed that this was not normal and that the engineered hard wood was incorrectly installed. read more

Let's start with I am picky, very, very picky when it comes to the items that I purchase for my home. When I hire a contractor to work on my home I expect a beautiful result. I have very old hardwood floors in my home, which was built in the 1950's. I wanted a professional hardwood floor company to restore the floors. I understood that the floors are from the 1950's and they will not turn out like they were brand new, but I like the character of old floors and ripping out the old floors was not an option for me because the new laminate floors in my eyes look fake and cheap. Mummin Parjavic the owner came by to give me an estimate and explain to me the process of refinishing and what the finished results will be. He is a Bosnian native from Eastern Europe and speaks in a bit of a rough accent but he was very personable and completely understandable. He matched and patched the existing floors where some boards needed to be replaced and sanded and refinished the floors. They also replaced a damaged floor joist we found after they removed the underlayment for an extra fee but knocked it out fast and it didn't hinder the time schedule. THE RESULTS WERE FANTASTIC, their service was better than I had ever expected and the attention to detail was unparalleled. They came when they promised, the cost was really inexpensive compared for the work done and they left no mess. This is an overdue review for Mumin. We were looking for a floor contractor to refinish our red oak hardwood floor before moving in. Mumin was very responsive and gave a very competitive quote, so we decided to go with him. We wanted our floor to have a bright natural color and Mumin suggested to go with 2 water-based coats (bona) and 2 oil-based coats on top (for better protection). The result was beautiful and exactly the color that we wanted. After a month we don't see any issues and we truly love our floor. Mumin also put lots of efforts to fix squeaky spots on the floor as well. He also came back after a few weeks to fix a couple spots that he missed last time. We echo the reviews that refer to the callous, reckless way in which some of the crew members behave, and when asked to be professional, they just get angry and throw tantrums. It was borderline at times for us whether we wanted to continue to allow them into our home. In the end, we saw the project through just to get it over with. Once they were finished, the 2 inch oak hardwood flooring they installed in one room crackled and snapped when we stepped on it. This defect continues to this day, day and night, all year round. This sound is not the squeak made by the nails that attach the subfloor to the floor joists riding up and down when stepped on. This is the oak boards themselves crackling and popping against one another. The rest of the house is also oak flooring from original construction. It doesn't crackle and pop. Only the new flooring installed by this company makes this noise. Since the materials are the same, that pretty much leaves workmanship as the reason why this crew's flooring snaps and pops. We have to live with it every time we walk into that room. If you want to have 2 inch oak flooring installed by this company, we strongly recommend getting it stated in writing that there will be no popping and crackling. read more

I first contacted Mumin after reading all the great reviews on Yelp - and I wasn't disappointed! We had 75 year old hardwood floors refinished, and also had them put in beautiful wide plank hardwood floors in our kitchen and laundry room since it was previously sporting 4 layers of hideous linoleum. Not only were they super friendly, easy to work with, and cleaned up after themselves, they did a wonderful job with our floors. Our floors went from looking old and outdated to brand new and beautiful - they also used an eco-friendly stain to darken the wood that turned out lovely, and were able to match the stain on the newly installed kitchen wood floor to the stain they put on the refinished hardwood floors. My only regret is having the painters come after Mumin and his team - they dribbled a few paint spots on our beautiful hardwood floors so I'm going to have to call Mumin back for a touch up soon. We've worked with a lot of contractors and home repair people since moving into our home in December, and Mumko's Hardwood Floors was probably our favorite! read more

This March 2013 I hired Mumko's based on the Yelp reviews, and because I had the job cancelled last minute by another provider. As I live just minutes from him, and he mainly supervises his crews via phone, Mumin the owner agreed to install my flooring himself as it was a small job. He was willing to negotiate price--I provided laminate flooring (already purchased at Home Depot)--and he indicated amount of time likely needed. In hindsight, I may have talked him down a bit too low for his liking--though he agreed to it. Let me clarify: He was very friendly and likeable; installing in my galley kitchen and small adjacent dining area of my townhouse. I stuck around to chat a bit (& watch his work) and I even indicated (once I knew he could use a skill of mine) that since I was getting a discount price--I'd be willing to do that task for him. He never took me up on this.* Before job was halfway done, I returned upstairs to work. I regret having done that. The remaining work got sloppier (not tightly fitted, on laminate that is grooved to fit tight) and lots of use of wood glue/filler. Some is hard to get off the floor still. Really messy job at my sliding door. He was cutting pieces out on my patio, and did no cleanup there afterwords. The big issue is AFTER he left I found a gash in the drywall just above the wallboard in my dining area that I hadn't noticed while he was present, likely because I was inspecting flooring, not my walls!! Looks like it was caused by the metal crimper used to fit boards. Of course, its the only wall with paint I no longer have! That repair job will be a pain in the neck, and add to the cost of that job; now I think I know why he decided not to take me up on my offer of services to compensate for discounted price...I'd gotten more than my money's worth...hmmm. read more

Just had these guys over the past 5 days to do some work for me. I had them pull out the old carpet, resurface the original floor, stain it, and seal it. They promise to do finish the work in four days, and thats what they did. The floor looks awesome! I am very please with their work and workmenship. All the guys are very nice and hard workers. If I had to complain about one thing it would be that the clear up wasn't as great as I would like it to be. However, I still gave them a 5 people they went the extra mile for working on the weekend, cause I had them install new 5' baseboard throughout the entire house and they finished it all in one sat. Sorry for the late review Mumin. We finally got internet access in our home. We love our floors. Recently, my wife and I purchased a home in Fremont, CA. In the midst of remodeling we discovered our original red oak hardwood floor underneath the carpet and pergo flooring. Our plan was to install engineered hardwood throughout using the labor of family and friends. Having floors refinished by a professional allowed us to save money by not installing new hardwood flooring by our selves. My brother (southern CA) recently refinished his floors and recommended we do the same. I got two estimates from two different flooring companies. Mumko was much more competitive (price wise) and honestly much more professional. I was confident they would do the job well. Mumko was able to start right away, and could complete the job before we needed to move in and the end of Nov. They were able to repair the water damage from the kitchen and the blemished areas in the hallway. Mumin was very flexible and came up with a great solutions for the other distressed areas. After they begun the repairs, the floors looked so beautiful (even without the finish)! Motivating us to have them remove the tile in our entry, to have the wood floor flow seamlessly from room to room. To save us the trouble of finding someone, they also installed the carpet in our family room. Not only did Mumko save us money, but saved us agony of installing the floor ourself. Had some great hardwood floors under my old ugly rug and decided to refinish it. Found Mumko's on yelp and decided to give him a call. Overall I am happy I did. This is why I use the word "overall" The only issue was they were working too fast and missed a lot. Mumko came back and graciously fixed the half done job. I don't know if it was because he came down on the price (slightly) that he was trying to do a half fast job, but I was on top of it so just beware of checking EVERYTHING before they leave. The crew did a good job keeping dust to a minimum and cleaning up after themselves. I hired Mumin to redo all of the floors in my big old house after reading positive reviews on Yelp. I don't know if he used a different team on my house or why my experience was so horrible compared to others, but in 12 years of heavy contractor use, this was by far the worst experience I've had. It's hard to capture the dishonesty and level of shoddy workmanship of Mumin and his crew. They kept sanding unevenly and had to redo the sanding several times, which cut DECADES off of the life of my floors. They left the corners rounded and 1/8 higher than the rest of the floors. They stain is uneven all over the house. They left gashes in several doors, scratched and otherwise damaged the furniture and then arranged it so I didn't notice until after I'd paid them. They left cans of stain on the floors they were working on, and on my white porch, leaving rings everywhere. They put my houseplants in a windowless garage instead of on the porch, as I'd requested. Mumin assured me there would be almost no dust and the house was covered in an unbelievable amount of dust, including an antique piano and art work which they promised to cover but did not. They even ate my son's little nuts and gluten-free cookies out of jars in the kitchen. It kept happening even after I complained. I had to hire someone to fix their mess and he told me they were using the wrong equipment -- for example, using an edger on the central part of the floor, which I guess accounts for some of the gouges and unevenness. Every day I would talk to Mumin about the problems and he would promise things would get better. They never got better. I stopped paying them before the end of the job, but I still paid them way too much. It was an expensive disaster and incredibly unpleasant to have these buffoons coming into my house every day with their heavy equipment, lies and extraordinary ineptitude. read more

The more I Iook at my hardwood floors installation, the more disappointed I become. Mumin and his team came to install our premium quality bamboo floors and did such a poor job: installing defected pieces, sloppy job gluing borders, just a huge mess. I asked him several times to inspect each piece of plank being installed and he said he knew, but obviously he doesn't know. We even have several boxes of wood leftover, so there was absolutely NO reason for him to install defective pieces. On top of this, I paid a pretty penny for the installation and am stuck living with gaps and tiny holes in my beautiful bamboo floors. If you want attentive and quality work, please do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Mumin is a nice guy, but nice isn't a profession. Stay away! read more

We recently bought a house in Hayward, pulled up the rug and found some old hardwood floors. My wife and I decided to try and refinish them, but we werent expecting fantastic results. The floor had some water damage and the boards werent flat too. We only had a few days off to move and paint, so we searched Yelp for someone to refinish the floors. Mumko's had good reviews so we called him. I explained our short schedule, and he offered to work all weekend to help us out. Unfortunately when we pulled up the rest of the rug, we found a bad piece of wood. He offered to fix it for a VERY reasonable price. I called him and asked if hed like me to fill all the staple holes from the carpet with wood putty, and he said hed take care of it for no charge. There were lots of staples, so Im sure it wasnt easy. He came Saturday afternoon, sanded it and fixed to floor boards, then came back to apply the 1st coat that night. Then he came back Sunday morning, applied the 2nd coat, then Sunday night at 10pm to put the last coat on. He did this for us, even though he had another job scheduled in San Francisco the same weekend. When we saw it for the 1st time, honestly we couldnt believe our eyes. all the high spots, warpage, dark spots, staple holes were gone, and a nice honey colored floor was in its place. Although the first time we used this company we were very satisfied, another time was not so good. We had the hardwood floor refinished in a bedroom. We're very pleased with a patch Mumin and his crew did for us after we'd pulled out a divider in our livingroom/hallway and discovered that it was installed before the hardwood floor - so, nothing but sub-floor underneath. They installed a patch of new flooring, let it "cure" for about a week, then came back and puttied, sanded, and refinished. It blends in perfectly, and we can't tell where the old floor and patch meet. They worked around our schedule (doing the final finish on a Sunday afternoon!), were professional, clean (vacuuming up all the sanding dust) and communicated with us throughout the process.
