CARNE ASADA FRIES
Steven Z.

Was on a trip with my friends and we were looking for a casual spot to grab a quick bite and this spot did not disappoint . I ordered the carne asada fries and the El Rey burrito, both were phenomenal. The service was solid, they gave some good recommendations. Great spot to watch the game or a chill night with some friends.

Surprisingly it went well. Cynthia was our server and she was very accommodating. My friend over the salsa and asked to take some home with her. I ordered the tinga taco and mole taco, plus the street corn. My friends got chicken soup and flautas. They found it satisfying. The ambience was casual with Spanish music playing in the background.

My friends and I chose Urban Cantina in Brandon for our friendmas get together, and what a fun festive experience it was! We started the meal off with a nice queso, and I love the hint of spice of the creamy queso with their crisp chips. I opted for the veggie taco and the elote and it was just the perfect portion and the flavors were on point. I couldn't help but have the Christmas taco for dessert and a few of us tried those as well as the churros. What a deliciously sweet ending to a wonderful meal. The place was decorated for the holidays from top to bottom, with lovely twinkling lights throughout, presents hanging from everywhere and giant holiday blowup figures out front. All in all such a festive and fun time.

Amazing project place. Jaime was amazing. Taco Tuesday is this place best feature. 100% commendedb

After an evening of strolling through the Christmas festivities at Curtis Hixon Park, Urban Cantina was exactly what we needed. All I can say is the El Jefe tacos and the Oaxaca Old Fashioned absolutely hit the spot--packed with flavor and perfectly made. The service was genuinely great, with our food coming out surprisingly fast without ever feeling rushed. The whole place has a super chill vibe, making it an ideal stop to unwind after a festive night out. Urban Cantina definitely earned a spot on our go-to list.

Stumbled here on our way home, and stopped for a quick little taco and we were not disappointed. Very flavorful tacos and margaritas made with love! The bartender was awesome!!! We had such a great end of the night this restaurant is a vibe!

Street Corn

While the ambiance certainly had a good vibe, the food was average. Great option over kids menu - quesadillas with fries or rice and beans for under $6. Ordered street corn and was super disappointed the corn was chewy, there was zero flavor to it. Burrito with queso on the top gave a nice flavor I had ordered with shrimp inside, while there was generous amount of shrimp on it again I felt it was overwhelming with too much rice and beans in it. I will say that the fries were good of everything. I will say while the food certainly disappointed us, our server was good and friendly.

We ordered the burrito (one was steak and one was barbacoa). Both meats were cooked well and the portion size was good. The dish itself was pretty salty. Food came out quickly. The service was fine, nothing to write home about.

We started with nachos for the table with chipotle cheese sauce, pickled red onion, pickled chile, guacamole, queso fresco, and sour cream and they were the perfect way to kick everything off. For mains, we ordered the enchiladas poblanas (chicken, queso fresco, house-made mole, crema, onion, and sesame) and shared the steak Tampiqueña with grilled strip steak, refried beans, and rajas corn enchiladas. The steak was genuinely perfection so flavorful and cooked beautifully. I also treated myself to an espresso martini, which was divine...maybe just a little strong, but in the best way. We had a delicious lunch right before our concert, and the location made it super convenient since it was right where we were staying. Overall, such a great sisters' trip meal, amazing food, fun vibe, and a perfect pre-concert stop. Would 100% recommend!!!

The lobster quesadilla was hands down the best quesadilla I've ever had. I also ordered the crab and shrimp enchiladas and everything was seasoned to perfection. My friend had the enchiladas poblanas and loved hers just as much. The drinks were just as good. I had an espresso martini while my friend ordered a guava margarita. The vibe really made the night. It's the perfect spot for a girls' night really. Our waitress was so sweet and even helped bag our food at the end of the night, which I appreciated. There was an event going on nearby, so valet was super convenient and even discounted since we were dining at the restaurant. Overall, I really loved everything about this place. We're already planning to come back for happy hour.

If you are in Ybor City and trying to enjoy yourself without lighting your wallet on fire, Barrio…read moreTacos is a very smart move. What I appreciated most is the build your own taco option, because it allows you to order exactly what you want without paying for a bunch of filler ingredients you were going to push to the side anyway. When you strip it down to the proteins and toppings you actually like, the cost savings are real. In a place like Ybor, where prices can creep up quickly, that matters. Now, the à la carte menu can feel a little confusing at first glance. It is not the most straightforward ordering system if you are just breezing through. But once someone walks you through it and you understand how to piece your order together, it becomes completely worth it. You end up with exactly what you want, and you are not overpaying for things you did not ask for. The vibe was great. The service was friendly and patient, which helps when you are trying to decode the menu. And the location is ideal. There is an outdoor patio with umbrellas on the sunny side of the street, which gives you options. You can sit in the sun if you want that warm Florida glow, or you can stay shaded if you are protecting your skin but still want to be outside watching the action unfold on the strip. And let's be honest, half the entertainment in Ybor is people watching. Add in the random roosters casually strolling around like they own the neighborhood, and you have a full show with your meal. I loved everything about this place and highly recommend it if you want to save a few bucks on food while still soaking up everything Ybor City has to offer. Good tacos, good vibes, good people watching. Hard to beat that combination.

We're out in Ybor and decided to stop at Barrio. The…read moreambience of the location is really dark. Not much changed from it being the previous locations of other restaurants, but it definitely needs more natural light. It's like eating in a dungeon. The tacos there was a lot going on on the menu and I'm sure this is a niche, but it is not a niche. I am on board with any taco that had ground beef was kind of disgusting the other tacos. You could've made them at home and probably made them better if you're looking for authenticity this is not the place. Service the service was not much to write home about nothing was stellar, but nothing was bad. With all things being equal, this is not a place that I would naturally recommend somebody likes it but it's probably the same people that eat Tijuana flat.
