It was a pity that despite living in Florida for four years, I never got to try alligator meat. Fast-forward to 2015 and I finally got to try its closest relative: crocodile meat. Urban Café located at the Wilcon Center along Visayas Avenue serves crocodile meat in many forms: from burger to sisig. Being a tapsilog guy, I opted to try the croc tapa dish. You may also purchase refrigerated and packaged crocodile meat if you want to take some home and cook it yourself. The meat apparently comes from the crocodile farm in Rizal. If crocodile meat is still "too much" to take in for you, Urban Café still offers "tamer" foods. They have a selection of cakes and coffee, as well as cheese platters and wine. For those familiar with the Visayas Avenue Wilcon Center, Urban Café is actually simply a revamped Nueve Café (the previous occupant of the spot). Still under the same ownership and management, the ambiance was simply changed and the wine and cheese selection was added. Aside from that, most of the menu stayed the same. read more
