Been hearing a lot of good things from my friends for this restaurant. I tried Mandarin Sky Wok…read moresome weeks ago but did not enjoy it. Together with Artsy Cafe, they have one owner and you could even do crossovers. I did ask my friends what they would recommend before I visited one Friday. For this visit, we tried: - Crispy Bacon Bagnet (Php180) - This was highly recommended by my friends but I was not expecting it to be this good. I was expecting it to be like chicharon, but this was better. First of all, you won't feel any oiliness nor saltiness. It is just plain crispy, like eating chichirya. It is very addicting and delicious. The whipped aioli and house vinegar kept the taste balanced. - Oyster Sisig (Php250) - Something different from your usual sisig is this oyster version. Each piece looked fried but the combination of flavors served as a good appetizer. A must-try! - Ensaladang Paco (Php125) - something to "cleanse" the oil from all the crispy dishes we ate. I think this is my second time having fern salad and I really enjoyed this dish. The fern has a good crunchy texture and the combination of flavors from the salted egg, red onions, and tomatoes blended well. - Kare-Kare (Php290) - since we ordered mostly "dry" dishes, we had to order something saucy, and we chose this. It had a mixed review from our group. The ingredients are plenty with generous in meat and vegetables. The sauce is actually soupy, and although I don't mind the generous sauce to flavor my rice, it was a little bland for me. The bagoong it came with is refillable and is really good. - Crispy Daing na Bangus (Php275) - This is one underrated dish because it looked like normal fried bangus but tasted better. And yes, it is crispy too. - Pistachio and Cashew Sansrival - the meringue is made crispy and sandwiched the sweet custard-like cream. It is lightly over-sweetened but good enough to pass as a good dessert. - Latik Sundae - brown rice suman served with mangoes and ice cream. Not very sweet. Overall, serving is not that big but is good enough to share. Price is affordable. There are ample parking spaces in front of the restaurant, and more on another lot. They offer free shuttle transfer to and from the parking. Looking forward to return for other dishes. One other highly recommended dish is the Tortang Talaba at Talong.

Like most restaurants, one shouldn't expect every item on the menu to be a home-run, so below is my list of dishes that stood out from the dozens of Filipino restaurants I've dined in the last few months. Crispy Bacon Bagnet (180 PHP) This has to be the best bacon bagnet crisp out in the market. Its solid crisp bite is unbelievably good. Please order this for a great start, you won't regret it. Oyster Sisig (250 PHP) Hold me back when this dish arrives, it's too good to pass, as in pass to the next person to share. Cooked well enough to allow the whole oyster pieces to remain mist inside. Grilled Daing na Bangus (275 PHP) They have a good supplier of seafood, which makes all the difference in the overall quality of their dishes. The bangus even when grilled tasted milky and believe me it could have been easily been a muddy one, but Komedor and their sister restaurant Artsy cafe (next door) only use the best batch from their trusted supplier. Tortang Talaba at Talong (280 PHP) Eggplant Omelette Pancake stuffed with fresh oysters and veggies. I enjoy the fresh tasting, smooth and gooeyness of the lightly cooked eggplant mixed in with the generous whole pieces of oysters. A must try dish that easily makes it to my eat list on every visit. Pistachio and Cashew Sans Rival I'm used to the butter heavy versions of this classic Filipino dessert, but at the moment I was glad it was airy on the bite and light on the palate, for the food prior to this was just too delicious to be left uneaten. Butter mixture was tame and the crunch satisfying, conveniently sliced into 4 pieces ideal for sharing. AMBIANCE Located within the same complex as Mandarin Sky Wok and Artsy Cafe, which offers a lot of parking slots and even an off-site parking with valet. The interiors of the space is well-lit to a yellow hue, but the front of the store is afforded with ample shaded sunlight.

I ordered the kare-kare which I haven't had in years that seeing it in front of me made we want to devour the entire bowl of red-orange velvety soup with tender oxtails and tripes and yummy veggies. My coconut water on the shell was sweet but was room temp. Oversized, it was a great experience. Highly recommend!

The restaurant is part of the LJC Group of restaurants so it pretty much knows what it is doing. It offers mostly Kapampangan fare with a gourmet touch, so imagine the richness and strength Pampanga's cuisine is known and add a touch of sophistication. PROS: My SO and I went here for a date to celebrate something (I'm not sure what it was anymore, tbh.) and the place was perfect. It is intimate enough for good conversation and the ambiance was comfortable with its Filipino furniture and décor; The food is adequately filling and priced reasonably. The bagoong rice was actually good enough to be eaten on its own but we enjoyed its other offerings as well. CONS: it's a bit full during dinner rush on weekends so make sure you get a reservation so you can get seated immediately. TL;DR: Fresh and wonderfully cooked Kapampangan dishes to delight every taste bud.

Nonetheless, I decided to give it a try. The interior of this branch is very relaxing. The decorations, the design of the tables and the hall itself resemble the traditional design of Chinese restaurants, but the use of light colors and bright lighting makes one feel at ease here. The service is very timely and cordial. This restaurant is perfect for large groups of people celebrating birthdays, baptisms, and other life events. If you are looking for a relatively quiet dining place, this is not your cup of tea. Keeping with its Chinese theme, Luk Foo offers a wide variety of classic Chinese foods, such as yang chow rice, Chinese-style chicken, dumplings, and pancit canton. Whether your order is for solo meals or groups, the servings are really large. In fact, our group went home with a lot of leftovers that were consumed the next few days. Customers will have their appetites satisfied and they all taste delicious. I particularly enjoyed its version of cream dory, which is crispy and tender at the same time. The meals are also really cheap given the serving size. Honestly, this may be one of the most affordable restaurants I have ever been in. If you are in the Caloocan area craving for Chinese food with your friends and family, Luk Foo in Puregold Caloocan is probably the best Chinese-themed restaurant in the area.
