The meh: cardio machines are so old. So old that they have the old apple chargers that haven't been used since around 2010. So good if you want to charge your 2007 iPod. The other thing is it is so so hot in there. The front desk woman said that the air is controlled by the main office in California. Are they kidding? Really? Heat wave in Philly 100 degrees I couldn't go. There are these ridiculous fans that are on the ceilings. So high up. You don't feel a thing. I'm a 55 year old type I diabetic. Yikes. I'd love to shoot a basketball for fun occasionally but that could never happen. The courts no matter what time are taken up by dudes who just play each other. The TVs on the machines are trash. Maybe five channels. Maybe. Static. No fans on machines. A workout hellscape. No one cleans the machines or uses towels but me it seems. I may go back to planet fitness Oh and the weight area. Men trying to intimidate me when I go in but screw them. Acting like I don't belong in there. Too bad dudes. I will go in anyway. They need to revamp. I was a member there in Bensalem in 08 and it was nice because it was new. Now it looks the same exact way with the same machines that are now 17 plus years old. Hot, stinky and fix the machines that are broken. I'm sure this is mostly corporate being cheap though. How unfortunate. They do have good hours also.

He was really good, none of this is his fault, I got done the sessions I agreed to and they kept charging me and they refused to refund me. On top of that, the gym is mediocre at best. I went to a HOTWORX in another state, when I was visiting some family. It was such a great workout…read moreand I swear I have never slept better in my life than the night I did Hot Yoga in the evening. So I saw that northeast Philly was getting one, and I decided to sign up for their pre-sale. Had to wait over 6 months for the gym to finally open, but it's open! First- the gym itself is great. The managers and franchisee are very nice, present, and responsive. This is a big deal! The gym is small, each sauna that you do the classes in is only big enough to hold 3 people, but usually you're flying solo. There's an app to reserve your slot for every class, so you can choose to book a room to yourself, or see someone else is registered and choose to sweat it out with them. Classes are split into HIIT cardio classes that run every 15 minutes on a video loop inside the saunas, and hot isometric classes which are 40 min in length. I love the classes so far. I know it can be repetitive having the same virtual instructor run the exact same class with the exact same script, day after day, but I find it actually a little rewarding, as I get better and able to push harder, the lines I remember from the class seem to make the class feel shorter. "Oh we're already at that point? Almost done!" Now for the bad....the APP IS TERRIBLE. And getting as much psychological reward out of this program relies VERY HEAVILY on the app. If you have a Fitbit instead of an Apple Watch, you can just forget having accurate calories counted, half the time (especially if you take a 2nd class in one visit) it won't even let you record your calories, and "afterburn" is supposed to be tracked for the 60 min after you finish your workout. If you forget to tap "record your calories" right at the 60 min mark, forget it! It records zero calories. So, do I need to buy a $300-600 watch to enjoy accurate app performance? Maybe. But that's nuts. The UX of the app is also some of the worst I have ever seen. None of this reflects on the location of this gym, or the gym itself, so I'm not taking any stars off on the review. I left an App Store review for that. The biggest drawback to the app being a POS, other than not getting the full experience the concept promises, is you can't compete on the leaderboard if your sessions aren't logged correctly, and there's no way to manually add them or fix it. Each gym, and the entire franchise, has a leaderboard and there's supposed to be rewards or prizes for ranking highly, so it's a bit of a let down to know that no matter how often or how hard I show up, I'm not on the leaderboard accurately, and I'm never going to "win" even the mental prize of seeing my name towards the top for our location. :( I'm actually a competitive person, but the app's shortcomings don't allow one to tap into that....which could result in falling off in going altogether, and then canceling your membership. Anyway, I love this gym, despite the app sucking. I feel incredibly energized and CREATIVE after my Hotworx sessions. I'm a graphic designer by trade, so this is SO valuable to me. Maybe I will reward myself with an Apple Watch one of these days. But for now, I know I feel great, and my Fitbit app is still tracking what it is supposed to, just not always sending it to the Hotworx app like it's supposed to.

With that said, I feel as though it is not fair to members like me who have basic and cannot take group classes. Most of the time, those who are new, want to train with others and have a sense of community around them and have fun, but with the fact they cannot take a group class, they have to train alone and feel either anxious or shy. As of today, I overheard that members can no longer bring guests to take group classes, but they can bring in guests to the gym to workout alone or use the machines. I find that that is absurd and is not a way to keep members for long because it is taking away an important factor of feeling community and family in the gym. If you want to continue having members come into the gym, it would be to remove the new rule of no guests taking group classes because sometimes you want to invite people with you. The only 5/5 stars is for the class I am always watching through the glass doors. The 5:30 and 6:30 class (from the app I see that it is Legendary Strength and The Ride with Rita). They always seem to have fun because they are always laughing with each other before and after class. I wish I could be apart of that community feeling, but unfortunately, I cannot do that with a basic membership. Please make a change about: 1. The spray bottles and trash 2. Members not being able to bring guests to group classes Most importantly 3. Allowing basic members to bring guests as well because not everyone has enough money to pay the fees of the highest membership to be allowed to bring in a guest These rules are the reason Crunch is losing members at the gym. Constant little changes here and there without taking the people into consideration is the problem. Please keep me posted with updates to these concerns. Thank You.

This is one of the cleanest gyms I've ever been to. The locker room and the gym floor are immaculate. I was surprised to see Dyson hand dryers in the bathroom, too. It just felt like such a premium experience. In addition to the brand new equipment, my membership also allows me to access any Crunch location, and I can take advantage of the hydro massage and tanning booths. There are refrigerators stocked with protein shakes and other hydrating beverages near the front desk. The staff was readily available and helpful - I went up to the front after my workout and inquired about bringing a guest and the WiFi password. The ladies working last night were so sweet, showing me additional amenities and making me aware of their busiest days. I'm so pleased with my experience at Crunch thus far and can't wait to explore more as I continue my fitness journey there.

Out of all the powerlifting gyms in the Philadelphia area, this happens to be the best bang for your buck. As for accessories, all the machines are carefully selected to optimize strength and hypertrophy. That's not to mention all the cardio equipment and group class options this gym offers. The wall art is absolutely gorgeous and creates a welcoming ambiance for all kinds of athletes. Powerlifting and comic books are two passions of mine, and DCF has managed to blend them both.
