Out of all the powerlifting gyms in the Philadelphia area, this happens to be the best bang for your buck. As for accessories, all the machines are carefully selected to optimize strength and hypertrophy. That's not to mention all the cardio equipment and group class options this gym offers. The wall art is absolutely gorgeous and creates a welcoming ambiance for all kinds of athletes. Powerlifting and comic books are two passions of mine, and DCF has managed to blend them both.

Skip Leg Day, and Skip This Gym…read more Fusion Gym South Philly has potential in the same way a condemned building has "good bones." I was a member for a year. During that time, I never once found a working locker. For four months, nearly every lock was broken. When I asked staff, they said it was getting fixed. When I complained on Instagram, I was blocked. Repairs happen on a bizarre schedule. One day during peak hours, someone in a welding mask was using a blowtorch to solder the leg extension machine behind a single strand of caution tape. Sparks were flying, it smelled like molten regret, and I wasn't sure whether to finish my workout or file a mesothelioma claim. The locker room smells like a foot--the kind a Civil War barber-surgeon would immediately amputate. I would rather eat unsanitary street food than shower there. The humidity is intense, and the cleaning approach is laughable: one bucket of dirty mop water gets dragged across what feels like 20,000 square feet of gym floor. Are they rationing soap? Most members keep to themselves, but about one in ten act like they escaped auditions for a VH1 celebrity dating show. One regular in a crop top hoards three machines to do some kind of punching-based oblique workout. If you try to work in, he treats it like an act of war. Others proudly wear MAGA or "Atilis Gym" merch, radiating main-character energy no one asked for. There is no lunk alarm, no enforcement, and no gym etiquette. It's Bizarro Planet Fitness--a chaotic mirror version where weight-slamming is constant and common sense goes out the window. If there were a basketball court, people would probably be doing Snake Plissken shot clock drills in ski goggles. I even showed up in the background of a TikTok rant for using the hip thrust machine during someone's filming session. There's nothing wrong with a man trying to work his way out of a flat butt. The music is offensively loud. Despite wearing noise-canceling headphones and partial hearing loss, I could still make out every word of Kanye and Drake. There's an entire cardio section that stays empty because it sits under the loudest speaker in the city. The staff and trainers seem burnt out and disengaged. When I tried to cancel my membership, I was given three different answers across three calls. One person told me to call an 800 number. Another told me to wait until the end of the week. The third said it was canceled but to double-check with ABC Fitness. I gave up and emailed them myself. No one seemed to have the same answer twice. Final verdict: like skipping leg day, skip this gym. Your lungs, ears, and sanity will thank you.

Members all pay different prices. Just not a great run gym. You also have to bring your own weights, mats and other equipment. I have been a member for close to 7 years and have recently seen members becoming more and more disappointed in this gym then ever before. I am one of those members, and we all feel so uncomfortable saying anything because you are met with an unjust attitude. The owners children also should not be allowed to run through the gym during classes or do their dance routines while paying members are there. Just not run professionally.

She's a gym owner not a client but you would never know it. I finally had to stop paying for her gym because she truly only cares about herself and no one else. There's also no separation between her personal life and business life. Her classes are also crazy expensive for basically showing up to workout and following her workout of the day that she writes on the board. Her equipment is average and her gym is dirty.

I have been a member of this exceptional gym since the day it opened in June 2009. I would not…read morehave stayed a member one year or even a month or day if I was not seeing any results or felt like I was not getting the personal help I needed. But with the help and guidance of the owners/instructors, I have lost over 45lbs, lowered my cholesterol by over 100 points, gained confidence in myself, and have made a lot of friends. It's also nice sometimes when an "old timer" (hey, I'm only 40!) like myself beats the 20-year-olds in friendly competition! Classes run an hour starting with a group warm-up, a strength or skill component, and then the WOD (workout of the day) which can last from 3 minutes to over 30 some days. One thing about CrossFit is that EVERYTHING is SCALABLE and no one will ever say anything about it if you do not do the workout prescribed. If you can't jump on a box 24", you can do 16" or 12". If you can't lift 135lbs, you can lift 95 or less if necessary. Everything is based off your skills. Eventually, you WILL see results and improvements in your speed, strength, and stamina. There are no egos at CrossFit Prime, and everyone wants you to succeed. It's awesome to see someone accomplish that first pullup without a band, or get a handstand pushup, or any new movement! Sometimes we have team WODs. CrossFit Prime recently expanded a second time due to their increasing client base and they get the same individual attention they need to succeed just like I did. There is always a certified instructor or two to watch over everyone to make sure they are safe and correct on form which is very important. Even I still need to be corrected and watched sometimes. Additionally, CrossFit Prime has one other program which you may be interested in. OnTheJob is special for police and firefighters. The price is astounding, too. Even more, CrossFit Prime offers nutritional sessions, and can assist you in making better choices with your eating habits. We have participated with PhillyCowShare for fresh, grass-fed beef, and one owner has gotten eggs for members who wanted them. CrossFit Prime sometimes has social activities like a Halloween or Christmas Party or night out on the town, and has had teams participate in the Philly Fight for Life Air Climb, Tough Mudder, Spartan Sprint, Fight Gone Bad, Broad Street Run, South Philly Rumble, and many others. Overall, I cannot say how impressed I have been over these years with CrossFit Prime, and I think you will be, too. Give it a shot, and I know you'll be very pleased with the results!

CrossFit Prime…read more Three-hour Seminar: Excellent Parking: Excellent Trainers: Excellent Facilities and Equipment: Good Schedules: Excellent Administration: Fair Gym Contract: Fair Value for your money: Very Good I started my membership a month ago and decided to cancel for personal reasons. Generally, the CrossFit experience was very good. What I really liked about CrossFit Prime was its training staff. They were very knowledgeable and helpful, and really wanted me to progress in the WODs. As a newbie to CrossFit training, I often had one-on-one time with the trainers and that attention allowed me to achieve better form and skills. They all have an A+!! In my opinion, CrossFit Prime could improve in their customer care and administrative processes. Although I willfully signed their contract, I was not completely content with the process and contract agreement. I was psyched about starting CrossFit that I overlooked what I had read in the contract. You are required to give them a two-month notice that you plan to cancel your membership, which to me, is questionable. If you decide you cannot continue your membership, you end up paying two more months whether you go or not. It feels more like a trap than a commitment. I did not get a copy of my contract or even a receipt for the card transaction when I signed up. My greatest fear is being inadvertently charged more months than mentioned in the contract. At this point, I do not trust their payment process and will be vigilant for the next months. Nevertheless, I take full responsibility for signing a contract that was not all that clear to me. I learned my lesson. The worse part about this whole experience has been the feeling of being ignored by the gym administrator in charge of customer relations. In my particular case, for the past two weeks I have tried 4 times to get a cancellation acknowledgment and end date from the administration, and to this date, I have not been successful. That is a very disappointing aspect about CrossFit Prime. The customer is the core and lifeline of any business and should be taken care whether it is or is not an important matter to the administrator. If it is an important matter for the customer, it should be an important matter for CrossFit Prime.

Super nice space and clean. I like it here. Refreshing to see the owner there at 6am. He's now one of my barbershop clients. Funny how that works.

With that said, I feel as though it is not fair to members like me who have basic and cannot take group classes. Most of the time, those who are new, want to train with others and have a sense of community around them and have fun, but with the fact they cannot take a group class, they have to train alone and feel either anxious or shy. As of today, I overheard that members can no longer bring guests to take group classes, but they can bring in guests to the gym to workout alone or use the machines. I find that that is absurd and is not a way to keep members for long because it is taking away an important factor of feeling community and family in the gym. If you want to continue having members come into the gym, it would be to remove the new rule of no guests taking group classes because sometimes you want to invite people with you. The only 5/5 stars is for the class I am always watching through the glass doors. The 5:30 and 6:30 class (from the app I see that it is Legendary Strength and The Ride with Rita). They always seem to have fun because they are always laughing with each other before and after class. I wish I could be apart of that community feeling, but unfortunately, I cannot do that with a basic membership. Please make a change about: 1. The spray bottles and trash 2. Members not being able to bring guests to group classes Most importantly 3. Allowing basic members to bring guests as well because not everyone has enough money to pay the fees of the highest membership to be allowed to bring in a guest These rules are the reason Crunch is losing members at the gym. Constant little changes here and there without taking the people into consideration is the problem. Please keep me posted with updates to these concerns. Thank You.

In addition to the brand new equipment, my membership also allows me to access any Crunch location, and I can take advantage of the hydro massage and tanning booths. There are refrigerators stocked with protein shakes and other hydrating beverages near the front desk. The staff was readily available and helpful - I went up to the front after my workout and inquired about bringing a guest and the WiFi password. The ladies working last night were so sweet, showing me additional amenities and making me aware of their busiest days. I'm so pleased with my experience at Crunch thus far and can't wait to explore more as I continue my fitness journey there.
