I took my partner and her son and wanted to get a wristband so he can ride whatever , he has autism and I wanted him to go on the rides at his own pace . Lady was rude and said there were no Armand's not mentioning the place to buy them was right around the corner . (We saw this after buying the tickets ) Also the child with autism waited an hour to ride the roller coaster and they made him leave bc the ride broke down (it was fixed only 2 mins later ) and he had to wait all over again , they could've let him have his spot back . The swings operator was horrible a group of teenagers got in front of all of us in line (there were at least 15) and they let them through to ride and didn't say a word .. it was rude and disrespectful. The positive review I'd have to say is always cullers . They have the best vinegar fries that I look forward to when I go . Candy apples were great and my partner loved the fat Albert game even though we didn't win , just watching the little mouse was super fun .. Word of advice : don't bring your debit card .. ever . Use cash for everything, I ended up having to dispute over $80 of fraud activities on my account :(

The Frank Love Orchestra played two great sets of Big Band Music: Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Tommy Dorsey. NiFen provided the catering with treats from spanakopita to pan fried dumplings. Fox Distributing donated the beer, so that proceeds from sales could go to benefit the Arts Council as well. All of this for only $10 a ticket. Great to have such a cultural event in a small town like Shelby.

Clearly, a lot of history here and they have done a great job in the restoration and the accommodation for artists and guests. All seats are great seats as the theatre only holds 400 people. It's like being entertained in your living room. Prior to the show there was an area off the lobby with a bar and table seating where a "warm up " person played. There wasn't an announcement prior concerning video taping or pictures taken during the show so people had their phones out recording and taking pictures. That was distracting. They have a good line up through 2019 so we will be going back to see other performers. Tickets are very reasonable. The theatre is located down town Shelby and in walking distance to several restaurants you can visit before the show. There is ample free parking at the bank next to the theatre .

The Earl Scruggs Center is located in Downtown Shelby in the 1907 built Cleveland County…read moreCourthouse. Free parking is available on the street. The entrance is on the Washington Street side of the building. Make sure to stop at the smaller building outside as that is where you buy your tickets and receive your earbuds. From there you can proceed inside the renovated courthouse and a docent with start the introduction film then explain what order to go through the museum. The Center opened in 2014. I did not know who Earl Scruggs was before my visit. The North Carolina Musicians Mural Trail brought me to Shelby, NC. But he was a well-known banjo player and who had his own style of playing while developing the sounds of bluegrass. Besides Scruggs, the museum tells some of the history of Cleveland County. The Rotunda has the instruments used by the Scruggs family. In These Hills tells Earl Scrugg's story and has some interactive exhibits. There is a board where you can listen to his music and that of other artists. Out of Carolina is the next room and covers the next stage in Scruggs career. The radio history, Shelby Dynasty and textile mills in the area. Turning Road is the last room covers the Civil Rights Movement, textile mills closing, and changing music styles. I recommend a visit to the center if you are near Shelby.

The Kings Mountain Historical Museum is located in a former post office built in 1939 and is on the…read moreNational Register of Historic Places. The museum has street parking in the front and a small lot in the back. Admission to the museum is free but they do take donations. The exhibits seem to rotate here and while I was there they had Moonshine & Motorsports. So I got to learn about NASCAR and moonshine. The museum is laid out well and the exhibits have a lot of artifacts and storyboards to tell the stories. While the rotating exhibits and building were wonderful, I wanted to learn more about Kings Mountain.

Huge granite steps out front, rich woodwork inside, copper light fixtures, a safe, the postmaster's office. Saw a toy and train exhibition today. There is a gift shop with pottery, paintings, cards and other assorted gifts. Not quite sure what they display in this small museum during the year. Yes, the exhibit was small, but it was fun, free and close to home. Donations can be made if you wish. If the weather permits, check out the old cabin that they relocated to the rear of the property.
