I just took my first pilates tower class here through ClassPass. As a beginner, I don't have a ton to compare to, but it seems really strange that there are only 3 reviews for this studio, so I wanted to add my experience. The location is awesome. Right off 6th and near W 4th station. The studio itself was super clean and all the equipment was brand new. I've seen some reformers and towers at other studios that are pretty beat up, but these were in great condition and super clean. There were 5 or 6 of us in the class and the instructor was great. A few of us were new and she was very patient explaining everything. I didn't feel lost or confused, which is super important for me when trying a new workout. Overall, it was great. It's definitely a different, less sweaty workout that focuses on little movements, so if that's your jam check it out. read more

Pretty nice clean facilities and good content in the classes. However, the way the instructor speaks to students could be lot more upbeat and encouraging! I also thought I could have used a little more of an abs workout and less stretching my arms (maybe I was doing it wrong but I hurt myself)? read more

It is easy for me to give Uptown Pilates of 5 star rating. I've gone to six sessions with Emily, and I can already feel the strength and flexibility I've gained. I came to Emily with a pretty bad diagnosis of degenerative disc disease. It's clear that she has a lot of experience working with clients with serious lower back issues. She tailors her sessions just right, so I can build strength to become asymptomatic without having to go through injuries or pain in the process. read more

This was my second #classpass class and also only my second time ever doing a pilates tower class. I was really excited to try out this studio, because it's right by the west 4th street stop, so it's really close to a lot of subways and is not that far away from work. First, it's a small studio, but very nice. It feels a little like a spa inside, it's so neutral toned and soothing. I had read reviews of the studio before attending, and a few people had commented that the instructors were rude. I didn't find that to be the case at all. Were they SUPER DUPER peppy and in your face encouraging? No. But were they condescending or inattentive? Absolutely not. I actually really enjoyed my class. Most of the people at the time slot were also classpass people, and they were so friendly and welcoming. They told me that this was one of their favorite studios, and it really was a great workout. Instead of being mostly balancing or stretching focused, it definitely targeted the core more intensely than the other tower class that I attended. With Classpass, you can only go to the same location (or franchise) 3 times a month, though you can go to unlimited classes across all the studios. I really like this studio, both for its location, but also for all of the above reasons. I will probably go there the maximum that I am permitted each month with classpass. read more

A great Pilates studio in the Village. The instructors are really great about correcting form and talking you through what you should be feeling (and where!) so you get the most out of each move. Pilates can be intimidating for newcomers but Uptown Pilates and their instructors are super welcoming! read more

Uptown Pilates has never failed to deliver for me! They have great instructors who care about their students, do great hands on adjustments, and never fail to keep a key eye on form throughout the class. I never leave without my abs burning!! I also love how they mix up the exercises we do in class - outside of the 100, I don't know if I've done anything twice! Stellar workout in a super convenient location. Also the steam shower rules!! read more

It's good to know that some studios in the pilates space manage to strike the right balance between discipline and improvisation. Uptown Pilates is one of those places. It has integrity, a welcoming and intimate environment and superb instruction. Highly recommended! read more

A lovely, modern, sunny studio. Excellent teaching by Brooke and Rosanne, among their many other skilled instructors. I'm very familiar with Pilates and have been most impressed with the high quality of instruction here. Great location, too. Highly recommended! read more

I had been wanting to try this studio for a long time and when I finally did I was SO glad! The classes I've taken with Cary Regan so far have been the perfect amount of challenge without straying from the Pilates method. I'm really learning how intricate and transformative the work can be. The front desk has been extremely helpful as well. I definitely recommend this Pilates studio!! read more

Extremely unprofessional and rude person at the front desk. Been very excited to check out the studio since I live in the area. Booked my first class through class pass and I guess there was a mix up and it didn't end up getting reserved. The lady at the front desk was straight up rude and not helpful. Unfortunately will not be coming back. read more

Been coming for years. Love Delphine and Cary's classes, Cary only teaches like 1 unfortunately on Tuesday am. These are classically trained instructors and know what they are doing. Every other instructor literally has you breathing and mat pilates when you sign up for a reformer or tower class. I do not get why they think this is acceptable. If I want to take a mat class I will not sign up for a TOWER class. Stretching without springs is not what I want to do for 25 min out of a 60 min class. Also please respect the LEVEL you are teaching, if I am in a Tower III - I do not want to do LEVEL 1 beginner exercises because a new person decides to sign up. This is the only studio with strong springs and I hope they don't become some easy, peasy, let's please the one-timers who come in place. read more

I signed up for this class via ClassPass, Being that I was a newcomer to uptown Pilates (and Pilates in general) I was shocked at how I was barely welcomed and was not even taught how to use the machines. I had arrived 15 minutes prior to class (as instructed in the confirmation email) and the teacher didn't even introduce herself! I was also very disappointed with the teachers cold demeanor, it seemed like she was upset about something and was keeping to herself. The class I signed up for was supposed to be 60 minutes and the teacher dismissed the class 20 minutes early!! The class itself was not very challenging at all, I'm not in the best shape possible and if I can keep up with the teachers instructions it must not be difficult. Such a shame because the studio has great potential. I probably won't be returning anytime soon. 2 stars for the Very fresh, beautiful and clean studio overlooking 6th ave. read more

Was recommended by a friend to check out the studio, so ultimately walked in for more info. The receptionist (think her name was Lindsey?) was super helpful and gave me a good idea of what options would work best based on my experience/schedule/finances. Have since taken a few classes with JulieAnne and Delphine and have had a great time with a good work out every time I step in. Highly recommend!! read more

Great classes and great teachers. Love both the reformer and tower classes here - the studio is lovely and here you actually learn how to do REAL pilates, not the "trendy" type. It's definitely classical pilates, and it shows. Make sure you've done pilates here before you take a class - would recommend you starting with private to get the most out of the group classes! read more

I tried this class for the first time last Friday - the class was good but the receptionist was not there on time to open the studio so the class started about 20 minutes late. The studio offered to extend the class to make up the time but that's not helpful for people doing a morning class before work! Very disappointing overall, people do run late but the studio should have a back up plan! read more

I had a misunderstanding with the cancellation policy and didn't realize I was being charged for canceling within 24 hours and within one week, cancelled a few classes due to having the flu. When I realized I was being charged I explained my situation and how I did not (clearly) realize I was being charged. I asked if I could get the classes back and moving forward, I now understand the policy. The classes are pretty expensive already and they were very unaccommodating and would not give me any sort of refund. Therefore, I pretty much paid $180 for two classes. Unfortunately, I used to like this studio but due to their lack of any sort of customer service, I will not be going back! read more

Great reformer classes in a convenient location! Studio is clean and organized. Friendly staff! Definitely recommend this spot.

Took a reformer and tower class, both classes were suppose to be intermediate level. The reformer machines were ancient, the class was not challenging at all, same goes with the tower class. the teacher Adam was nice but worst classes I've tak n in twenty years that I've been doing Pilates. I have class pass and saw this studio and wanted to try. Maybe the other locations of uptown are better? read more

I've taken over 200 classes with ClassPass and this was my first negative experience. The studio was super nice but the machine was awkward, too many transitions and the whole class felt like an awkward stretch. Was not for me. read more

I discovered Uptown Pilates last Spring and have been hooked ever since. The studio is very clean and welcoming. The Tower apparatus is a little intimidating at first, but the instructors at Uptown Pilates do a good job of easing you into the Pilates exercises. Classes never have more than six participants and on several occasions I have been in a class with just one other person. As expected, the smaller the class the more individual attention you receive. I always leave class feeling positive and accomplished. Pilates is a great workout to add to your routine and I would definitely recommend Uptown Pilates. read more

Lived less than a 5 minutes walking distance away for over 2 years, and only discovered this place with my new membership with ClassPass. Yes, individual classes are expensive, but they do have a cancellation fee and policy like 99.9% of studios in NYC. It's very small classes (no more than 8), so your time-slot potentially prevented someone else from joining the class. The machines are high-end, the entire space is warm, comfortable, and upscale with great views of 6th Avenue and extremely convenient to 1, A, C, E, B, D, F, M) Each instructor that I've had so far has been very personable, walking around and giving corrections when needed, and really made me feel at ease with only having taken 2 Pilates classes before (and several years of dance). Love it, and just encouraged my boyfriend (a marathon runner who finds yoga not challenging enough anymore) to take individual classes so we can start taking semi-private classes together. read more

I booked a class through ClassPass. Facilities: The studio is located on 6th ave upstairs of Blue Mercury. The moment I entered, I noticed that the studio was smelling great. The studio is shaped like a long rectangle with reformer facilities on one side and tower facilities on the other with the reception area in the middle. While it is a small studio, everything looked organized and clean. I did check out the bathroom but I didn't notice a shower. I could see that they took care of little details like painting the bulbs on the ceiling to not hurt the eyes when students are doing the work. Class: This review is for a Beginner Tower class led by Lesly. Lesly started by explaining the specific names for parts of the "tower" and how each part worked. Even though the class is "beginner" tower, the class is intermediate pilates (you want to be familiar with the pilates basics). Then she quickly led us through different sequences. I thought the pacing was just right (not too fast not too slow). I liked how she explained the moves through different analogies and confirmed where I was supposed to feel the burn. She also adjusted my postures when needed. I thought the class was quite challenging compared to the pilates class I took at New York Pilates. Summary: The location is convenient for me and I will definitely like to take a class again with Lesly. read more

Favorite Pilates studio in Manhattan! All of the instructors are experienced and pleasant to work with.

The class was great. However at the end the owner came in and actually yelled at the class for the way we put away the equipment. It was truly the most distasteful way I have ever been treated in a class. Needless to say my morning post workout excitement was cut short. I will not be going back she was incredibly rude. read more

Booked a reformer II class on class pass and was looking forward to trying out this new studio. Was able to book it online (my profile says I am pregnant), when I got there I was told to change for the class, and then I started the class. After 5 mins the instructor, Delphine Blue, said "I really don't know what you're going to be able to do", refusing to give me instruction and basically told me to leave. I signed a waiver, I also have taken other Pilates classes before and know what my body is capable of. There were only 2 other people in the class (one of which was an employee) so I don't see what the big deal was. She was incredibly rude and made me feel very uncomfortable and I left extremely upset. Not to mention how much of an inconvenience it is to sign up for a class and then basically get rejected from it. I am getting a full refund, but wanted others to know how unaccommodating and unprofessional they were. Stay away! read more

The studio is small but nicely appointed and the instructors I've experienced have all been excellent. There is lots of instruction on form and emphasis on doing things properly rather than blowing through routines. As a relative beginner, I was favorably impressed by how the instructors have been able to lead the class while also providing individualized instruction. Every class I've been to has been tiny, which is great for individualized instruction. read more

A great studio! Very professional and talented teachers who lead challenging but fun classes. The space is gorgeous, full of natural light. Their equipment is well maintained and clean. This is my favorite spot in the west village for Pilates and I've tried quite a few different studios. read more

Love Uptown Pilates in the WV. Great, comfortable space and love the Reformer classes. Instructors are welcoming and skilled. Definitely recommend! read more

Love the West Village uptown pilates location. I have been coming here for ~6 months and have noticed a huge difference in my core strength. Instructors are very form-oriented and give great corrections. Michele is the most challenging instructor I've had so far, but all give great corrections. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a no-frills pilates experience. read more

Uptown pilates in the west village is so lovely, and I'm so glad I found this studio. The front desk staff are very helpful and welcoming; the studio vibe is exceptionally warm and welcoming. Classes are small, so you get personal corrections and attention from the instructors. It's a lovely place for a true pilates practice. Definitely a bright spot in my day / week. I would highly recommend this studio to current and beginning pilates practitioners. read more

I love the classes at Uptown Pilates! Calm environment but still very challenging. The instructors are all very helpful with correcting your form and making adjustments. Definitely feel longer and leaner after every class! read more

So happy I found this studio. I just started Pilates about a month ago as an addition to my usual cardio/soul cycle routine. I have been doing private lessons and recently took my first group class. The instructors at the studio are absolutely amazing--they really take the time to make hands on adjustments to make sure you are learning the movements and getting the maximum results. After just a few weeks I can see a major improvement in my body and am very happy with the results. Highly recommend! read more

Pilates is one of my favorite workouts. I have noticeably seen differences in my body from taking Pilates classes. I really love Uptown Pilates student to instructor ratio. Each instructor asks in the beginning of class if you have any injuries (I have an old rotator cuff injury) and they help to ensure that I am comfortable throughout class and provide modifications if needed. The studio is warm and welcoming and steps away from West 4th subway stop, I definitely will continue to take classes here!! read more

Love this studio. Love the classes. Great teachers.

Uptown Pilates is the best pilates studio I have been to. It has a very peaceful and non-stressful atmosphere, excellent equipment and really knowledgeable and personable instructors. I would go every day if I could! read more

Love this studio. It has a modern, relaxing vibe with clean equipment (they are well maintained) and everyone working at the studio is friendly and welcoming. My favorite instructor here is Brooke - her classes are more challenging than others and her instructions are clear and detailed. I love Uptown Pilates! I found the west village location because it's close to my office and I am able to go before work. This studio was the first time I tried pilates and the staff were extremely helpful teaching me about the equipment and all the movements. The facility is super clean and nice. They even have a shower that's great and clean too. I try and go a few times a month and switch up the classes. I have done both reformer and tower classes and definitely feel the work the next day. read more

I love love love Uptown Pilates! I used to go to the UWS location before moving downtown and love the quiet, relaxing environment. I'd never done Pilates before and everyone in the studio did a fantastic job of getting me acquainted with the practice and the equipment. I now go to the West Village location and love the studio and the view! Both locations I've tried are super convenient to the subway and everyone has been friendly and welcoming.
